I couldn't be more excited to fly a 1942 Boeing Stearman with the owner Mark Small. Mark and his With Kathleen operate the Honor Project, which is a non-profit set up to fly our Veterans around the beautiful Walla Walla Valley in Eastern Washington state in honor of their service to our great nation.
This experience gives our warriors the experience of the open cockpit in the aircraft many of them trained to serve our nation in.
Big thank you for taking such great care of our hero's, without them we wouldn't be living the life we do or enjoying the freedoms we enjoy today.
Lets get strapped in behind the beautiful 9 Cylinder Pratt & Whitney BT13 450HP radial engine and take the PT-17 Stearman to the skies!

Great video! Sharing!
Thanks Cory! 🍻👍
Thanks guys, awesome plane n stories, infact an old Boeing Stearman just flew over our house hence showing my wife on youtube what plane it is
I'm so excited to see this video. Mark took my husband (Korean War Vet) for a ride several years ago.
My uncle Leo (Buzz) Sawyer, a WWII pilot, started Sawyer Aviation in 1948 specializing in crop dusting and spraying. He kept his WWII Stearman planes and fuel trucks at the airport. I flagged for him one summer in the early 1950s with a group of college boys. What a thrill to watch the small spec coming towards us in the wakening sky. The plane would disappear behind a hill and suddenly flew over the top with a loud deafening roar. What a site to behold. Thank you for posting this video.
Susan, Thank you for sharing your experience with the Stearman! Excitement levels are thru the roof flying in the Stearman indeed!
The movie The English Patient brought me here.
Welcome to the channel 👍
Thank you for all you do for our Veterans!!
Thanks for a great video! I didn't know until now that this has the same engine as my absolute most favorite airplane, the Grumman G21 Goose! Pratt & Whitney 985 Wasp Jr. radial engines are one of the best sounding aircraft engines in my opinion! Love seeing Mr. Pletcher's restored Goose that usually appears at the Alaska Aviation Festival every year. Just wish they'd dust off the orange & black DNR Goose & get it back in the air. It used to still fly not too long ago when I was still in my early teens.
What a lovely Stearman, long may she fly.
Thanks Angel!
Absolutely amazing
There’s nothing like flying a Stearman. Tuff to takeoff , a dream to fly , a bear to land . We always try to promote aviation and tell about the history of WW2 with our Stearman. Great video!
Thx for sharing Larry!
Absolutely amazing video. We have a true love for the Stearman Biplane. I'm sure you probably attend the Annual Stearman Fly-in each year in Illinois. That's always one of our favorite events. Thanks for the incredible footage.
So crazy flying these legendary brids, amazing video my friend!!!
Thank you 👍👍
The Stearman is such a badass plane
No doubt about that buddy
Thanks Dmitry! Now that I’m down in this area, Washington state, I need to look him up.
Highly recommend a weekend trip to Walla Walla. Amazing little city, was voted not ling ago as America's best small city.
Awesome man love you guys , still remember how we use to hang out together, good memo.
I remember those times! So good hearing from you John!
Very cool video, nice views, proud of you ❤️
Thank you 😊❤️
I only know of the Stearman thanks to a very nice version of it made for Microsoft Flight Simulator, it quickly became one of my favourites. Loved the visuals here :)
What you do for vets is so cool, I've always been interested in finding a way to put my flight training towards a good cause! I'm still a student, but I know a lady who's in a stearman club, and I'm really hoping I can get a look out from an open cockpit at some point!
This is the plane I've always wanted...
That is such a great thing to do ❕Enjoyed the video. Well done❕
Thank-You Shelbe!
Crave Life Your Welcome❣️
very cool!
Thx buddy!
Great video.Had to be a fun experience. Woody Williams recently passed. Sad. I'll be getting a ride next week in another state.
I'm sure you know by now, but that is a Katmai 182. Turns it into a completely different, and a lot more safe airplane! Great video BTW.
I was not aware, thanks for sharing that. 😎
Waverly Stearman was actually the designer of these planes and Lloyd Stearman, his brother, was the business man and manufacturer. Lloyd sold out to Boeing. Later he bought Lockheed when it was in bankruptcy and brought it back to life. Waverly went out on his own and continued to design but never used the Stearman name again. Of course, you can find other details online so I'm not going to write a thesis.
Never knew that, thank you for sharing!
Are you a relative?
@@marksmall2169 Yes. Waverly and Lloyd were my dad's cousins.
Crazy random find, but Clement Telep(memorialized on side of this plane) was my great uncle!
Wow! What a small world, thanks for sharing that!
I don't want to hear music. I want to hear the engine.
Stearman are fun to fly.
Yes, immensely fun!
Hey, Great Video! I am curious about the camera mounting in the tail.
I also own a Stearman and I want to mount a GoPro there, do you have any detailed pictures/advises of the tail mount?
Thanks!
Hello Andreas, I use a GoPro too. Just use a holder to mount a camera to the tail.
Nice ride in the stearman. The Cessna was kinda weird.
Thank you, only 182 I"ve seen with that modification.
@@CraveLife me too ✋
I'm planning to build a Stearman model kit in 1/72, and have found this video very helpful as a reference, thank you for that. I also plan to make a video for UA-cam on that model build. Would it be ok if I got some stills and small video segments off this video to put in mine? I would only show parts of the plane, not the people, and I would of coarse link to you in the description. Is it correct to assume the instructor is seated in the rear seat?
Wanna hear the plane ❤
Awesome video. What's the bass song at the very beginning?
Final Surrender (Instrumental Version) - Sebastian Forslund
I did aerobatics in one today and it was fcking sweet
Still on my list, would love to do that!
😅😅
music not necesary
😂
