Very interesting with the Icons - have never heard of these before but they are stunning, beautiful artwork. Wow! Will agree that the family horrifically died but have a tough time seeing them declared saints, especially Tsar Nicholas II who was the cause of many, many deaths ruling Russia and later trying to hold onto his throne and before that in his rule - the children did nothing to earn their fate and that is a tragedy. Certainly a turning point in history that would eventually put Russia (and many other countries) behind the iron curtain that extends to this day in Ukraine. Great items to show and thanks!
@@PolarCurrency that is the rub. People are conflicted as well over there. I think that is why they are designated passion bearers...I do not understand it all myself.
Incidentally, it is a very exciting story how the remains of the murdered family were found. The communists had buried them in the forest, the search (and ultimately the discovery) began in secret by private individuals during the communist era. However, the site had to remain secret until I think 1989/90 when the Soviet empire collapsed. Only then were the remains solemnly interred in St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral. Greetings from Germany

I have always been fascinated by this story.
OTMA is the mnemonic device for remembering the daughters' names. (They used this abbreviation themselves, by the way).
That is information that I like! Thanks for providing it.
How about Macedonia P-26?
I always think of those notes...and Bulgaria, Czech, and Peru...
