I made mine all the way with the "flappy" version, and I love it so much!!! But my girls want one now and I think because of how busy my youngest is, I will do the amended version. Either way is very nice and unique!! I expect tons of compliments so thank you very much for sharing with all of us!! These are lovely!!
This is not a mistake... it's just a different option!!! Both are beautiful 💕 I will make one of each in a different color! lol :) By the way, you are my favorite crochet teacher! It's so easy to follow with your tutorials... I have crocheted many blankets, shawls, etc... from your videos 🥰 You are my go-to when I want to make something lovely and the puff stitches awww 💙💜 Thank you for the excellent tutorials. Caroline from Canada. 🐑🌻
The petals of the ‘flappy’ version remind me of the fanned crests of cockatoos perched cheek to cheek! As a bird lover, I’m drawn to that version, error or not. (Thanks for the recent lacy tutorials-truly inspired!)
Brilliant. Thank you for all your efforts. Xxx. I prefer the look of the structured join. So appreciate your willingness to make adjustments..especially for those of us less able to wing it, who always have to have a pattern or video in front of them.
It's my own fault for making the error originally! I don't want people to get confused, especially if following the written pattern which has the structured join in it - this was the least I could do! x
Thank you for the update Robin! Both versions are beautiful, personally I prefer the floaty , less structured version. But it’s great to get 2 variations in one pattern! Xxx
Robin, they are both exquisite my personal preference is the structured. Thanks again for the pattern, tutorial, your attention to detail &, your time added filming an update.
First of all, I love your work, your demeanor, your voice, presentation, everything. It's funny I wondered about the floppy petals. I thought these would tack on to the petals below, as you said. I haven't even viewed your correction yet, but I'm betting some kind of slip stitch or sc might solve it. I'm working 2 of your scarves concurrently. I've recommended you to my daughter, so she can learn your skills. Thank you. Happy new year from southern California!
I so appreciate the way you approached your correction! Sometimes we just have to go with the flow and be happy. Now, instead of just one pattern, you’ve created two!! 🤓🧶
I love this scarf! I have several balls of shiny yarn kind of like roving but still has a slight twist that I had no idea what to use it for. I've made six scarves this week! Lots of Christmas presents.
Love the structured more. Both beautiful but the extra step 'feels' right, for me. You do gorgeous work. Thank you for going the extra mile and taking the time to show us the option.🥰
Te vi hoy y lo hice . Quedo beeeeeeella . Gracias mil. Saw your channel today , for the first time. Just finished it. Beauuuuuutiful. A zillion thanks.
Hi Robin, I love both versions - just gonna have to make 2 😁 Thank you so much for putting this video up, you're so kind, many wouldn't have bothered. It is a beautiful scarf either way & now peeps have 2 patterns to choose from, love your tutorials ❤
I’m so glad to see this. As I kept watching the first video, I was looking for how it joined. Then you showed the completed one and I thought, well maybe it isn’t joined and it’s just laid out nicely. Nice to know I crazy. I do like it more structured.
Yay! I’ve done four of these beautiful scarves as gifts. After finishing the first one, I really didn’t like the “flappy” petals, so I tacked them all down. I did this with the others I made. Your method is so much easier. Thank you for the update.
I love both, but depending on the yarn used, a different effect can be really pretty on this beautiful scarf. Thank you so much for your excellent tutorials!
Thanks for the update Robin, you are so sweet. Many wouldn't even bother to tell anyone. I like the update version, just beautiful like everything you teach. Ive learned so much from you & look forward to your videos, it feels like sitting down with a friend visiting over our love of crochet. I hope you have a million more video ideas & never stop, you're a wonderful teacher. 💜🤗🧶
I am so glad to see this!! For YEARS now, I have tried to find the pattern for an afghan that I crocheted for a dear friend, who is now deceased. The difference is that the fans are crocheted one on top of the other, to form “strips”, and then those strips are joined together in order to make the blanket. Is there any way you could show me/us how to do this? Please? Thank you!
Ah interesting - I think I have seen charts in some of my vintage crochet books that are similar - do you have a photo of the afghan? I might be able to reverse engineer it :D
@@HookedbyRobin Unfortunately, no pictures. I’ve been trying to figure this out for years now. The best I can explain it, is there are fans crocheted on top of fans, forming vertical strips/rows, which are then sewn/crocheted together to make a blanket. I’m thinking that it may have been a kit(?) with different shades of brown (earthy colors). I hope I can find the pattern again one day… and thank you for your help!
I know I'm a year late to the party, but I've started crocheting this today after watching it last night. Luckily I saw this on my second petal of my 3rd motif, so I only have one flappy one now after making the adjustment! 😅 Can I just take a moment to coo about the yarn I'm using.... ahem... I think it is actually the most beautiful yarn I've seen so far!! (All of 6 months btw 🤭). It's Cygnet's Boho Spirit, colour 6801 Indie, and it's like metallic peacock colours! 🦚 The photos did not do it justice. I'm beside myself with excitement, and this is definitely the right pattern for this yarn 🥰 Thank you for your time 😋
I'm working on this right now. I had to stop what I was working on to give it a try. It was too gorgeous! I tried a few motifs without joining, but decided to re-do and add the join. My yarn is really floppy anyway, and the join gave it more structure. I think with a more bulky yarn, the loose version would be lovely. I plan to make more as gifts, so I'll let the yarn decide which version it would like to be. Thanks for this beautiful pattern!
Hi Robin I didn’t realise you’ve made this update! I made the first version and I liked it but I thought afterwards maybe there should be something more done to join the petals but then I thought again no it’s just me being picky and particular and this is Robin’s tutorial and she always knows what she’s doing( this is a compliment to you and it’s very true)so I’m really happy that the petals are joined now and I will have another go at making the scarf following this new update. Thank you❤
Hello! Yes, unfortunately the last scarf had a tiny error so I had to re make this update but thank you so much for your kind compliment. I hope you enjoy making your next scarf.😀
You are right they are both pretty but I prefer the structured ot connected on. Thank you for the update, I live your videos they are fun, enjoyable and infirmstive!!!
These are the mistakes that create beautiful art my dear sweet friend! I enjoyed watching the way both look and how they are done, it’s just another option to a beautiful pattern and anyone can choose which one they like I said I like the loose hanging one more even though I like them both but I actually think 🧐 I love them both equally! Thank you for the quick update! You are so sweet!
The scarves are gorgeous, but when I make mine, I will use the more structured version. I think it's simply personal preference, as you say, not an error. Thank you for a lovely tutorial!
I like them both! They are very pretty. As to which one I would make would likely depend on my mood at the time and or who I am making it for. 👍👍👍Well done and thanks for sharing 👍!
I preferred the flat version. The overlap version made one petal almost cover another (making it double thickness and lumpy) and it almost/mostly lost its side-to-side affect. I appreciate your update. I'd like to make as an accessory with a finer weight and maybe sparkly thread. You were right; easy pattern and good directions! Thank you.
I like the oops version more for my own style but can think of folks I would make the flatter connected version for. Thankyou for the ‘happy accident’ giving us options.
Ah thank you Robin! Definitely not a mistake, just a variation…. I will finish the “floppy” one I am working on, and make another with the added stitch. 😄 such a fun pattern.
So amazing. Incredibly beautiful. And I can do it ( I assume 🤔😉) and I just started to crochet a month ago. A true master piece. Thank you Robin. You are amazing. Of course I checked other crochet girls but you are the best.explain very clearly everything and you also have a very nice calming voice for which - forgive me but I envy you a little. I wish I had so soft voice like yours.
I ended up tacking my petals together after I’d made the scarve, both are beautiful but I prefer them more structured. Love this pattern I’ve made several already with different yarns and I love them all.
I like them both. In fact, I have made some hats and wanted to add something to the sides of them and I found that this pattern makes a great addition and is exactly what I was looking for. About four of the Fan Lace petals designs work well for the side of the hat and then I make a matching scarf. Beautiful designs. Thank you.
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create this amazing and awesome lace scarf. I’m certainly not worried about the slight mistake in the pattern. I really really love ❤️ this. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
@Joanna Lemska What a lovely way to put it - Bob Ross is smiling too 💕😄 I especially love the look of the happy flappy scarf but plan to try both and see which way works best with different yarns from the stash. Some yarns will need the more structured extra attachment points to achieve the desired drape, stability and a more "polished" or formal look. I envision several "flat" version scarves done in metallic or lustrous yarn in more neutral or monochrome jewel tones for evening wear, holidays, fancy parties, etc., and some flirty frilly "flappy" scarves done in bold bright variegated colorways or even blended strands of wool or alpaca & silk/angora. 🤗
I can never decide so I am going to do the flat version up to the neckline then the float version for the remainder. Love following your Robin and thanks you’re awesome 💖🌸💝
Thank you for the update. I like the structured version, but as I am already halfway through making the scarf, I will keep the loose look for this one. The next one I make, I will try the structured one. TFS,
You know when I saw this correction come out I thought I was going to frog my project. I’m not even a quarter of the way into it. Then I noticed that when I put it around my neck it fits very comfortably because it has that break in the pattern. So I’m going to keep it this way and I may make a second one the way you have it corrected. Wonderful mistake💕💕💕
I have made two of the "flappy" version so far as I hadn't seen this video. I did wonder if the petals were supposed to overlap like that but I really like how it drapes. I might try this more structured version next! Thank you for a beautiful pattern, I will be gifting these scarves for Xmas as they work up so quick and don't use a huge amount of yarn but are so quirky and pretty!
I am going to try the flappy version first as I think it would sit around the neck better. Or a bit of both 🤔 Absolutely love your tutorials so easy to follow 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
I love both versions! If you had already done a few petals and wanted to attach couldn't you just do it with needle and yarn! That's for those that want! Lol not me, I'm waiting for my new beautiful yarn! It WILK be so perfect with this! Ps I truly love this pattern! Thanks so much for sharing and teaching!!!
I think this is lovely. I can't wait to try it. I may use all one color. White maybe. I think I like it connected better. Also Im having trouble finding your circle in a granny square video.. You did make one right Thank you for the two options and for sharing another gorgeous pattern. ❤🌷
Both are honestly beautiful. Too the person I'm gifting it's prob going to be the more flat n solid structure of the flowers but for myself the looser lap over version. I'm ready to do my 13 dbl stitches of my 2nd motif. If it wasn't a gift and I didn't have to only think about the recipient I wouldn't be able decide they are both so stunning n eye catching either way💥🌟🔥 as a beginner with such a small change and ended up with a very new appearance is very amazing💫 I'd want both versions for myself probably😆
I almost finish the first version , which is beautiful, i will do a second one in the second version, so as a comment says it's not a mistake just a different version, thank you

Made the puff stitch scarf beautiful
I LOVE the "mistake" version! I made that version as a gift and the recipient LOVED it! and so did I !
🥰🧣
Thank you so much for this “update”. I have made the “flappy version” and will now enjoy making the “flat version”. This is such a pretty pattern.

Thanks, Robin!
Thank you for the update Robin! Both versions are beautiful, personally I prefer the floaty , less structured version. But it’s great to get 2 variations in one pattern! Xxx
As usual great insight on a problem that arose in the pattern and video thank you for setting it straight for us who love everything you do 🌸🌸🌸🌸

Bless you Robin. It’s a pleasure to watch you crochet. Thank you for all your effort in parting your knowledge to us. X😊

Both are beautiful, but I like the “accidental” one, more floaty 😊
Floaty is a nicer word than my "flappy" 😂
Or how about a floaty flap😂
Thanks!
Thank you for the support Marie!🥰🤗
Thank you for the update. I like the structured version, but as I am already halfway through making the scarf, I will keep the loose look for this one. The next one I make, I will try the structured one. TFS,

I rather prefer the fluffy version!!🤩💖
It's not an error, just different!!!!!
Thank you for the Update!. I love the more free form, unstructured version. Great Videos!
I like the floppy.☺
They are both lovely.
I prefer the structured version. Thanks for the update ❤️
I like the joined version
🤩🤩🤩
I ordered my yarn today. Cannot wait to get this project started!

Loose version is beautiful 🤩
Both are honestly beautiful. Too the person I'm gifting it's prob going to be the more flat n solid structure of the flowers but for myself the looser lap over version. I'm ready to do my 13 dbl stitches of my 2nd motif. If it wasn't a gift and I didn't have to only think about the recipient I wouldn't be able decide they are both so stunning n eye catching either way💥🌟🔥 as a beginner with such a small change and ended up with a very new appearance is very amazing💫 I'd want both versions for myself probably😆
I almost finish the first version , which is beautiful, i will do a second one in the second version, so as a comment says it's not a mistake just a different version, thank you
Thank you Alix! 🤗🤗
Ive put your tutorial on my too do list .. I think I like the structured one .. I’ll know definitely once I start .. thank you Jean xx
I like the first one! More flexible and floating 🙂 thank you for this though!
Glad you like it! 😀
Structured. Thank you. I thought it looked a bit odd the have that petal flopping. Beautiful pattern’
Love the flappy version!
This is absolutely beautiful....both versions. But that yarn is amazing! Anything crocheted with that yarn is going to be lovely. How do I obtain it? Can I order it from you? If not, can you tell the manufacturer and color? Just working with such incredible colors makes me happy. Thank you so much!
It's Ice Yarn Lana Bella - available to purchase here: bit.ly/3idx8Dg 😀
I made mine without the connection. Rather than start again, I used invisible thread to join the petals and cut the thread very short and used a dab of clear nail polish to secure it. Worked for me.
Perfect! Thank you for sharing the tip.😃
Both are lovely and I think I'll try one of each style 💕
Thank you for the amendment video. I personally liked the structured version but both are so pretty. ❤️🇦🇺
I like them both… they are very beautiful…
I will make them both in an other colour…
Thank you for posting this…
Thank you for doing the amendment Robin both versions are fabulous 😊Amanda xx💕
I always say there are no mistakes in crochet just creative differences. Lol. Both are pretty!
I like both, but I think I will try the structured version first 💕
Prefer the attached version, thanks for the additional info
Happy accident gets my vote! Beautiful scarf, best tutorial i have found so far, so easy to understand and follow. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
I like the structure version.
Hi Robin, I like them both. Nice work! It would make a beautiful blanket, if you could tell us how to connect each strip. 💕🙏
I love them both can't decide what one I want to do .
My original.is flappy and I love it. Now I am coming to make another. Will make the atructured in ine of the colours. I plan to make a few.
Great idea!😃🧣
I like both of them.
Also, with light weight yarn, I prefer to join them, less floppy. Thanks for the update info!
Robin another excellent stitch thanks so much 🌻🌻
You’re welcome Elizabeth!😃🧶
Thanks for the update! Such a cool pattern!
I've only just finished it and without having seen the amendment I I started connecting bt then decided I preferred the floppy flappy version 😌
I hope you enjoyed making it Kristina! 🥰🤗
Both look great to me! Thank you.
aw thank you!
I love them both... but prefer structured.. thank you they are 😍
Sweet!! Now I can choose based on the person - thanks!!
