  • Going over the many ways you can cancel out of Kazuya's Crouch Dash as well as a few applications by doing so. Being able to cancel out of Crouch Dash is very important to Kazuya's movement as it greatly increases his option while in Crouch Dash, especially with so many ways to cancel it.

    God, these are like, my exact thoughts and techniques to CDC when I try to tell my friends but visualized. This is genuinely one of the better Kazuya tech contents found on this site that I’ve seen. Thank you for this :D Also, I must learn CDC’s on arcade stick since Kazuya’s Crouchdash can simply go through “Mid” attacks (I made a short video on my channel), so I think this character can get away with a lot if this is fully optimized!

    Phenomenal video! I personally really liked that back down cancel into crouch, really seems to give him so many more approach options. I find the input itself challenging, because it seem as if whenever I want to do it with the proper speed, I misinput a lot. Any tips on cancelling with down back? Again. Awesome video man keep up the good work.

      TYVM! Yeah N, DB cancel is a really fun approach option. So fun to come in swinging with a Demon God Fist XD. Also Crouch Jab is good too lol. Yeah I found it kinda difficult to do that cancel as well. I play on smashbox atm and I'm pretty good at it now with the layout I settled on and doing the neutral input by holding F and B. If you are on pad I'd suggest taking a look at this video and how they hold the controller ua-cam.com/video/__thduBRCrY/v-deo.html. How I would do it on pad is by doing the Crouch Jab with my left thumb, then let the stick return to neutral and then hit DB with my index finger. It might be difficult to change how you hold the controller, so you can try doing it with your thumb as well and it might be easier to Crouch Dash with the c-stick method. It was definitely the hardest cancel for me to get down, so it might take some practice with whatever method you end up using.

      @@ViedViper found something interesting when i was practicing, apparently the down back input on pad (whenever you use the ridges as a reference) it actually inputs a dash backwards instead of the crouch, but when you get it right in between on pad, it inputs the crouch. so you have to practice being really precise.

    • @ViedViper
      @ViedViper  3 роки тому +1

      @@Umbra.- Yeah that sounds right. When you down back from stand your char should be in a crouch position. Then start slowly rolling from down back to back until you are out of crouch and start walking back. The position you start walking back is when your Crouch Dash cancel turns into a dash back, which is very soon. The analog position to when you walk and when you crouch should coincide with a Crouch Dash cancel back and a Crouch Dash cancel down back respectively. Which like you said is very precise as down back to back quickly turns into a walk. I think you are saying something similar where it is better to shoot for down back and something in between down back and down. Just remember down does not cancel into anything, so do go to far down. I would think that when you down back at exactly where your ridge is gives you a crouch and not a walk. So hopefully your analog is working right.

      @ViedViper  3 роки тому +1

      @@hastyhd5040 Atm I think the absolute worst he will end up is B+ tier and also have the potential to break top 10(S tier more or less). But the chances of either of those imo are slim and I think he will most likely end up somewhere in between B+ tier and top 10/S tier. He has that X-factor where he will always have the threat of making comebacks with his combo/punish game. But his poor disadvantage and how relatively easy he is to edgegurard will also greatly improve the opponents combo/punish game. So if you are hitting super hard and your opponent is also hitting decently hard as well, a lot of matchups will be decided by neutral. For example I think that is how Fatality thinks of the matchup with Captain Falcon. ATM he has Falcon winning that matchup. He knows how hard Kazuya hits, but thinks Falcon can take Kazuya's stock almost as if not just as quickly too. And since iirc he thinks Falcon has a better neutral game vs Kazuya than vice versa, if Falcon is outneutraling Kazuya and taking stocks decently quickly as well, that is probably why he thinks Falcon wins the matchup. I agree with that line of thinking and I think that is how a lot of matchups will be determined as well.

    • @hastyhd5040

      @@ViedViper I also agree that neutral is the most important factor in how well a character will do at top level. With his comeback factored in and even a 3 stock best of 5 set format. I can see top kazuyas being able to adapt and potentially win a lot of matchups. similar to how wario in theory loses a lot of matchups but waft evens it out. Although in theory given all the applications that Crouch dash has, optimal kazuya should have good neutral. I haven't seen top players implement all the uses of CD yet. once they do I can see him being top 10 as you mentioned.

    Is crouch dash really that good? I mean your invincible for only two frames and most projectiles and grabs are active where you’ll crouch dash through but still get hit

    • @ViedViper
      @ViedViper  3 роки тому +20

      Well it does lead to your best move in EWGF XD But in all seriousness it is hard to say. Well that is a nice feature, I do not think moving through projectiles alone is what makes it so good. Yeah you are at most fully invincible for 2 frames, less than that if you cancel earlier, but there are other applications I envision/envisioning for this move. Even if this move had no I-frames, I still think it would be a very good movement option. Being able to cancel a "dash" into shield seams very useful that no other character in the cast can do. While partiality to fully invincible no less. As well as being able to jump out of it, transition into crouch while moving forward are all nice features as well.
      Most importantly I think it will be good for just general movement, playing footsies/in neutral, dipping in and out important ranges etc. Also there does seam to be a lot more to this move. Stuff that I didn't mention in this video and other stuff that I've found that need to be explored more in depth. I do not think anyone has come close to optimizing his movement yet. Movement, Electrics and movement into Electrics/a few other attacks are what I am mostly working on right now. But I suppose only time will how useful this will all be right?

    This is sort of the opposite of what's covered at the 5:10 ish mark (CDC into FC/Crouch jab), but would you happen to know if people have explored cancelling out of the FC state earlier? I was messing around and it seems that if you tap forward or backward towards the end of Crouch jab, you can enter a standing position a little bit earlier and potentially combo into his standing down tilts. I don't have the training mod so I can't confirm this fully, but via this method, I was able to do Crouch Jab x 2 into Tsunami Kick 1 and it counted as a combo.

    and the C stick on this controller is extremely stiff stopping it from moving passed the neutral position (5) to another input (4, 6, 7, 8, and 9).

Sounds like you can already CDC-DB to crouch so you pretty much got it :) Just got to delay a bit more to get those Crouch Attack options (Cr. jab, sweep, DGF, etc.)

    This all felt very complicated at a superficial level, so I had to really sit down and pay very close to attention to the video to fully understand. Now I realise, my issue is probably understanding it's execution.

    • @ViedViper
      @ViedViper  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! for every Crouch Dash cancel, regardless of controller will require a neutral input and another input. As shown in the video the order of the inputs do matter. Such as N,F will cancel CD with a dash where as F,N will not. Though if you add another F it will, cause you did F,N,F where the last N,F is the cancel.
      Even on box, doing N,DB was awkward at first, but it is the fastest way to go crouch from a CD. you can do DB then neutral to cancel then go to crouch, but that will add another 2 frames. I'm also going to put something else out soon that will help with all this as well.

    • @ViedViper
      @ViedViper  3 роки тому +5

      The only way to do moves like EWGF, WGF, Dragon Uppercut etc. in the game is by being in the Crouch Dash state. By gaining access I meant that once you are in this 19 frame move, during any of those 19 frames you have the option to press A or B to execute most of those moves. This include EWGF, but you only gain access to it on frame 2 and technically frame 1 of your Crouch Dash. If you do 6 on frame 1, 2 on frame 2 then 3+A on frame 3 (623+A) it will never show you in your Crouch Dash and go right to EWGF. Which is kinda like doing it on frame 1 Crouch Dash, even though it never technically goes into Crouch Dash. If you do 6 on frame 1, 2 on frame 2, 3 on frame 3 then 3+A on frame 4, (6233+A) this is will also give you EWGF after 1 frame of Crouch Dash.
      Yeah all I practice for the most part is Electrics, movement and movement into Electrics. Dash Electric or DEWGF is very good to know, so do not worry about that. Crouch Dash Cancel into shield seams like it will be important. When you hold two shield buttons you can not roll or spot doge, which means by buffering two shield buttons it becomes much easier to buffer Crouch Dash Cancel into shield.

    Hey, I've pretty much gotten the muscle memory on my left thumb to do crouch dashes and simple crouch dash forward cancel to shuffle back. Should I keep practicing it or relearn it completely with your cdash shortcuts?

    • @ViedViper
      @ViedViper  3 роки тому

      Do you mean the c-stick method to Crouch Dash? I play on smashbox so the way I do it may not be applicable for you if you play on pad. But use whatever method works best for you, this video just showcases how to cancel your Crouch Dash and you can cancel it with whatever method you used to Crouch Dash with.

      @@ViedViper I just use joycons and for crouch dashing I just use the left stick. I learned it before I heard about the shortcut with inputting forward and down tilt and now I've fully memorized it. Should I just relearn or keep going?

      @@ant-xv7ce If that method works well for you then I do not see any reason to change. Also you can try the other method for a bit and see how well that works for you. Then at the end of the day just use whatever method you found easier, more consistent, faster etc.

      The star is a notation used In Tekken that represents the neutral position. Neutral just means having your analog stick in the center position, as in neutral. If you watch the cursor in the axes (starting at about 1:00) when I go over it frame by frame it shows my analog stick in the center at the star frame (frame 4 left or frame 5 right).

      No not anymore, there is a lot of limiting factors to it like only being able to c-stick CD/EWGF within the first 12 frames of your initial dash. But on box, buttons are buttons so may as well use the standard method.

      For the c-stick method you have to hold forward and within the first 12 frames of your initial dash do c-stick down, c-stick neutral while holding forward the whole time. You have still be holding forward inputting c-stick neutral and that will be the first frame of your CD.
