      Ever since I've switched to bike as my main commute last year, body pains became much rarer, and I feel much healthier throughout. I just still felt these points of stress in my body your regular "toss your arms around for a bit" stretch could not alleviate, and this video helped to.

    Pro Tip:
    the closer your hands are together as you do the strech, is the harder it is to actually extend your arms. So if you have trouble doing it, just space out your hands more and then progressively bring them closer as you get better. Hope this helps.

      Get a longer stick, the wider you grab it, the easiest it gets.
      If you cant hold it even this way, I'd suggest you'd start holding the stick over your head with your extended arms holding the stick with the widest grip you can get and then slowly start leaning the stick towards your back side, keeping your arms straight!

If you really can't follow the maneuver through seanlessly yet just wiggle your way incrementally till you can. If you stay in it ever day you'll see noticable improvements right away. If you're hurting, don't push the reps. Who am I kidding. It has to hurt somewhat but if you go slowly you'll come to distinguish between oK Workout Hurt and Holy Sht What Just Happened Hurt. I knew this already but I kept my arms straight and pass them overhead instead.
    From the side you're doing a half circle and end up in the same position he does.
    Can be an easier variation if you don't have the flexibility yet

    • @nkznkz3800
      @nkznkz3800 3 роки тому

      The problem with the circular overhead stretch is that you activate muscles that you're not really aiming for due to the full rotation. Starting at the back and doing a straight line backwards engages mainly the muscles that round your shoulders forward (Which is the chest muscles that lead into the shouder and the shoulder muscles that lead towards the chest). There's even tissue and muscles right underneath your collarbones that tighten aswell. Alot of these muscles do not get stretched if you do an overhead rotation, they do get stretched if you do a straight line.
      It 'is' however more beginner friendly, and helps stretches over parts of the core aswell and back musculature in a full round. You win some, you lose some. I just try to incorporate both.
