The bump on the White Pelicans beak means that they are in mating season. As soon as they mate, that bump will eventually fall off. Thanks for filling us in on the condition of Lake Mead, that is how I originally found you guys and the rest is history. I like fishing but do not like hunting at all. Thanks again guys, God Bless you all.

Good to see you back. I live in Northern Utah. This winter has been a record breaker for not only the snow pack in inches but the amount of water content in it, Those atmospheric rivers that dumped all that rain and snow have given the Colorado River and other streams and rivers the much needed water they have been needing. I have seen reports of lakes in the mid to southern Utah area are already over the spillways. One of which "Gunlock" spills over in the Santa Clara River of which empties into the Virgin River. We know where that river flows its content to. I will say be on the lookout for Lake Mead to be rising in not inches but feet this spring/summer. There is just to much snow on the Mountains that melt into the Colorado River. Good News for those lakes. Please keep us posted. Thanks!

The Great Lakes are also inundated with Quagga/Zebra mussels. We also have gobies that have been spreading like crazy. The gobies are starting to eat the mussels, which is kinda nice. The water clarity has massively improved with the mussels, which is nice for scuba divers like me.

I can't help but think of the enormous size of Lake Mead and how you guys showed the water levels. To see how much the water has gone up is incredible and I can't wait to see what the snow in Colorado will do to the levels in the future. I hope I may live just a tat longer to see the water going over the overflow again by the Hooverdam, that would be nice because the last time I saw that was in 1988 on my first visit here. Now I live here since then.

Talking around the 1st pipe, I wouldn't be shocked if if the lake fell considerably less than it has the past two seasons. The big drop that was supposed to start in late February and early March never materialized. So far, though the lake level is of course lower than in 21 and 22, the drop off rate has substantially lessened. Your getting that nice clear water now as a testament to how much freshwater from the rains and melt off has flowed into the lake. Good signs.

My mom was on the lake the summer of 1969 with a large party of people. A storm came out of nowhere with 6' waves that capsized the boat. There weren't enough life vests to go around so my mom dog-paddled to shore with another lady, walked barefoot and found help. It was on the front page of the LVRJ along with headlines about the Vietnam War.

Congratulations guy's! Thanks for going through all the hoops it took to get the permit. Heard a couple of weeks ago that they were going to let lake Powell fill up and not release much water to go through the canyon and into lake Mead until they have to. Perhaps because the upstream and higher elevation location will give them more options fo where the water can go?

🟠 Pelicans of both sexes develop a bump in breeding season, and it's not on their bellies. The lump forms on top of the bird's beak, and falls off after the birds have mated and laid eggs. Its function is not entirely known, but is thought to be a display of fertility.

What would you do to attract a mate and make a family? If you’re an American white pelican (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos), it’s obvious, grow a large bump on your bright orange-yellow beak. The bony protrusion (also called a caruncle) grows on both male and female pelicans and is believed be an ornament to attract an ideal breeding partner.
This conspicuous phenomenon, exclusive to this type of pelican, sheds away after mating is done and the eggs are laid.
Copied from another web site about pelicans.

I lived most of my life in SLC, Utah. The last 4 months that I lived in Utah, before moving to Charleston, SC. was spent in St. George. Gunlock Reservoir was spilling over its emergency spillway, it was a calm and a picturesque sight and locals had told me it hadn't happened in 15 years. You could walk around, get in small pools, have gentle waterfalls crash over you, it was gorgeous. Well a buddy of mine that lives in St George recently sent me a video of Gunlock Reservoir spilling over its emergency spillway and it was a raging torrent!!! And SLC still has like 16 feet of snowpack in the Wasatch Mountains. I'm hoping Lake Mead gets to 100% capacity this year.

Thanks for sharing on how you revived and released the carp at the end. Much love for the respect you guys have for mother nature. ✌🏽

It's completely unconstitutional to restrict filming of any kind, even commercial, on publicly funded public property. I would hire an attorney; and do not comply to tyranny.

@rockgod9497 you people like to think its just theft without thinking about what the money goes to. Land maintenance, marina work, boat ramps, dam maintenance, and I'm sure a few other things. Taxes and permits have to happen to maintain these things. It's also federal land so they can make that choice. Just like you could do so with your own land.

@@jarredstill2285 the access fees already do that. $150 to record for a day? I bet you'd likely like China more. And actually, being federally owned makes it unconstitutional; you don't even know the difference between public and private property. 😂 It's obvious you never served. Go back to mommy's basement and stop while you think you're ahead, special bus.
