How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a UA-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Heck of a tool. JCB should extend the demo from there advertising budget. Your going to sell a boatload of loaders. Ask for a promotion code and 5% discount on every sale. Beats media advertising with a stick all day. Good luck with calving and dry fields to plant. The channel is one heck of a marketing tool. Great upload. You can load big red if needed in an emergency.

Another great use of the boom!
One thing I've found, which I think you subconsciously were doing, is being able to place material more precisely with the boom rather than the less precise/jerky positioning with wheels/tracks motion.

Keeping the calfs safe, moving trees, you would have to either do the back braking work to move or rent a machine.
Its seams to me its a no brainer, this machine could save you a lot of money.

Mud, mud, mud. What a glorious thing! I think you'd have more luck with an excavator (even a mini like Cotontop3's or Letsdig18's) to salvage the soil in the retention pond. That's not to say that the Teleskid does a bad job; an excavator is just a little bit more purpose-built for the task of digging out holes. Oh well, it did what you needed it to do, and you got out of the muck. Edit: just think of the bonfire you could have with all those old trees you moved out of the way.

all and all a good mini ex with a thumb and a wide smooth ditching bucket on the farm is by far a lot more handier then any ski loader, i have rented both, but have come to realizes over the years, a cab mini ex with a good built thump and a wide smooth ditching bucket make faster and shorter work, with everything from barn an stall/yard cleaning, hay and straw moving, feeding to making drainage and demolition to fence post very smooth and fast, even taking big 1200 Lb round bales in to feed is a snap, you pick one up and set one edge on the blade and go, no rocking like in a ski steer, pick it up and drop it into the feeder, and rip the bale a part a little in the feeder

As you by now have probably determined, a compact track loader can/will outwork any of your tractors or wheeled skidsteers by an order of magnitude for the work that you were doing. They’re no good for plowing, mowing grass, kinda suck at plowing, but will be a go to machine if you end up keeping it. You’ll keep thinking of new uses, and oddly enough your forks will probably become your most used attachment. It’s an awesome lift for servicing your other equipment... Do yourself a favor and keep the loads close to the ground-you can move a lot faster safely. I hope JCB makes you an offer you can’t refuse-that tele-boom is pretty neat, and good luck!

I have wondered why this design hasnt been copied yet. Jcb has had one armed machines since the 90's that i know of and nobody else has attempted to copy it, even the Chinese. Of course the telescoping design is totally new and because of the single mounting point for the boom, it will probably last a long time, unlike some of their vertical reach machines that can get a ton of slop in them after a few years. Hopefully jcb has learned from that and is using better bushings.

Those telebooms have their place for sure, but standard boom skidsteers can be a lot more compact and smaller sized. It does seem that the single boom design needs to be beefy to be able to handle everything without having possibility of twisting and such, not to mention the frame and weight of the machine to be able to handle the loads.
Perhaps that's what we will see one day - larger skidders will only be with telescoping boom, while smaller skidders will retain the original design.

Wow... I'm sold on that unit... All of us over here almost started heckling You for crying wolf at getting a loader stuck... But You've clearly used it as suspense to Your filming...lol... The only time I've seen anyone walk away from a loader tractor stuck, is when they snagged a hydraulic line on a tree limb while trying to crutch their way out. Again... Great little machine and great filming

U will miss it. it’s handy for your farm instead of bringing the bobcat back and forth

We had this problem before. I recommend putting some rip rap rock on it

Sweet machine you got there. I got a 98 f763 bobcat n its been my back saver for sure. I am jealous that you have that tele feature, n probably get yourself unstuck manyyy times. Have you ever had this specific JCB in snow? Probably have different track for snow, as I use chains n I get by good on snow. Thanks Ty

Good video 👍. The only thing is the single arm it may be just fine but it seems unbalanced. Motorcycles have had single sided swing arms for years so the JOB may be okay

For a minute I thought I was watching “Let’s dig 18”! Your becoming fond of the JCB!

That boom just makes a whole 'nother creature doesn't it? And being able to switch attachments from the cab is a nice feature when the weather is crap. I'd go with it. Bobcat's going to have to bring it up a notch as long as price isn't the determining factor.
