Hi Charmi! The great thing too is that the nib units can easily be switched out if you end up preferring another nib size!!!! I hope you like yours as much as I love mine!
Glad to see someone else experiencing the joy of discovering the Opus 88's! They've been an amazing treat for me to use also, both the Omar and the Koloro. Well made, quality, and that stopper takes away much of the stress of evaporation. Enjoy! I also treat my TWSBI Vac700R as an eye-dropper, skipping the vacuum fill and loading it instead with a syringe. Gotta love that shut-off valve!
Hi Dean - the ink match up seems so perfect. I saw on the ink box they marketed this green ink for the Opus 88 Picnic. I haven't even seen one of those pens but apparently it's green. :)
Nice love and easier to clean a plus - I don't think you have yet had to clean. I didn't know about this one and double color. This past week I finally began using my 2nd demonstrator in the orange with Broad nib. So can't jump on this one yet. Gourmet pens video on Opus 88 is what got me interested in my first purchase. See what she did with the nib swap.
Oooh I will see what she did with the nib swap cool. I had learned on another blog that you could put a TWSBI mini nib unit in the Opus 88 Koloro and that expanded my nib choices for my red Koloro!!!! I'm like a nut about the Opus 88's I want bascially everything they make even moreso than TWSBI so I'm going to have to want less or earn more $. LOL :) I found my Koloro super easy to clean and I hope the Omar will be easy too. :)
Thank you Chris for the video. Well, what a nice looking pen and kind of chunky in its construction which I really like. The ink also is a really bright green, I love bright greens' and Lamy is one of my favourites but I think this one as it beat easily too bad I'm on a pen and ink buying hiatus or I would get a sample. A great combo, really nice all around. Stay safe both.
Chris, I ended up buying both the Opus 88 Omar in yellow and the Opus 88 Koloro in red after seeing them in your videos and I love them both!😁 I put Diamine Meadow in the Omar yellow and Sailor Ink Studio #873 in the Koloro red. If you are still needing a case for it the Galen Leather single zippered pen case fits it with room to spare!
Hi twocorgis9758 -- oh cool that's good to know about the pen case. Luckily, the Omar's fit into my Nock Sinclair's in the 3-slot side for single case I was still looking because I haven't taken the time to see if Rickshaw has made a sleeve yet or which size to order in theirs -- I think one of my Rickshaw Long size the Omar fits very tight with the clip on and I like a clip even though I don't use pens in my shirt pocket lol. I'm really glad you're liking your Opus pens. I am every so grateful to the pen friend that introduced me to the Koloro and led me to realizing what great pens they are!!!!!
@@ChrisSaenz13 I'm glad it fit in your Nock Sinclair. I don't use the clip either. I'm trying to limit myself to just two Opus pens for now, but I keep eyeing the purple Omar! LOL! Thanks again for introducing me to them!❤️
Hi Manda! I really am so excited about it! :) It's such a big pen but so totally comfortable to write with!!!! I'm such a sucker for any kind of demonstrator too!
Hey Chris I have the 88 in the clear demo model and I got the fine nib figured with the fine nib the ink will last a long time.I picked up the Montblanc Lapis Lazuli ink from Dromdoogles down there in Houston.
Hi Larry! I wish I lived closer to Dromgoole's!!! :) Well, I wish that but my wallet is glad I don't lol. Oh how I wish I got along better with fine nibs. I can't figure out why I don't. I seem to have found the most enjoyment out of Broad nibs for letters and Medium for journaling. It's just so nice these can be swapped easily in case I have a change of nib preference later on!
So after watching your review, I got one myself. I got a demonstrator since I wanted to watch the ink sloshing around the barrel  It's really chunky, but surprisingly nice to write with. I did swap the nib unit out for another one, and it writes nicely.
Hi Steve - what size nib are you writing with? I'm really glad you're liking the pen. I love mine! I ordered a stub nib unit for it so I can go back and forth from B to stub.
@@ChrisSaenz13 I ordered it with a EF, but I had gotten a separate 1.1 stub which I'm using right now. The barrel holds so much ink, I decided to use the 1.1 to see if that'll help use the ink faster
Thank you so much for clarifying it takes a standard #6 nib! I was ready to buy a nib assembly from Penchalet that specifies it's for the Omar. I thought since it's from Taiwan it used particular nibs as japanese sizing does. I have stored a Broad to replace the Fine that's in it now, it sure would use the ink more appropriately to the ink capacity in a reasonable time than a fine, lol. Thanks again, God bless! (Matthew 5:45)
Hi Robert -- I'm using the nib assembly units -- I just don't know if the nib can be pulled out ... I hope I haven't misled here .... the nib units from Schmidt, JoWo, and Bock are the ones with the correct threading and the nib is definately #6. I showed the nib unit up close because I did initially get confused and I thought maybe the Edison unit would work. Ugh ... always much to learn but I hope to find out if others have been able to pull the nib out. Somehow I don't think so but I'm just not sure.
@@ChrisSaenz13 I pulled out the nib no problem & tried the new B gently at first while watching your video, fits no problem to a bock B nib respectfully fyi. I heard no cracking or unusual noises while doing so, you should be good but as the saying goes, "your mileage may vary" & "do so at your own risk"
Hi Marilyn -- I saw those Jazz pens -- they are beautiful. I wish I could see one in person because of the shape ... top of my bucket list = go to a pen show!!!!!!
That yellow and green combo is so “springy”! I ordered a clear Omar from Endless Pens, and they sent me a Koloro Demo, so I kept it instead of exchanging since it was similar and had the EF nib I wanted.
Hi Arlene -- I like the looks of both of those pens -- I'm trying to remember if the Koloro Demo has the #6 nib or still the #5 like the other Koloro models.
I love my opus 88 pens. I think I like the Bela model best followed by the Omar and Jazz. I have discovered that if I close off the valve and a few later want to write with it, it takes forever to get going. So, I leave mine open all the time and never have any delayed starts. I’d like to know if you have experienced the same thing. Love your channel and your openness. Looking forward to April.
Opus 88 nibs are great! I've Omar Dark Green, 2 years and working good. The Demonstrator gets stained deep in cap threads and impossible to clean (I've tried all tricks). I'm very interesting if the yellow parts gets stained too?
Hi Nick -- that's something I'll be watching for -- it is something I've had with other brands. Mostly around the cap liner and annoying but I still love the pens. :)
This pen makes us happy- the color is perfect for spring! Green is among our favorite every year!
This pen really makes me smile!!! :)
Update: I finally got one ❤. Thank you for this review. Since I use Hobonichi, I got it in fine. I am so excited.
Hi Charmi! The great thing too is that the nib units can easily be switched out if you end up preferring another nib size!!!! I hope you like yours as much as I love mine!
Love hearing the excitement in your voice over that pen. Great bright color!
Hi Vicky - thank you! :)
I love that you spend a lot of time with ink. It is very helpful.
That's good to hear Marsha!
Thanks, Chris. After watching this video I bought the same pen, in broad (from Write Here in the UK). It is indeed a lovely pen!

Congrats ! It´s a gorgeous yellow pen. Love it.
That was a great first impression💛 The combination of yellow and green is beautiful.
I also enjoyed seeing all your green inks!!💚🍏📗
How exciting!!!!! I love this yellow - great videos as always.
Thank you Charmi!
Great video! I love your videos. Thank you for the information on where to find Colorverse Supernatural. I have been looking for this one forever!
Hi Lakesia! I also saw it on Etsy but I trust this Truphae company I know they do the Inkredible boxes and had heard great things.

So pretty! It’s like a dandelion!
Hi James lol funny I've been out pulling dandelions in the yard. This pen makes me think of my home State = Vermont. :)
a beautiful fountain pen and an incredibly cool ink! I am happy for you 😍

I am always late to the comment party 🥳 That color combo is giving me strong Wizard of Oz vibes and I love it!
Hi Book Dreamer - it screamed Vermont in the summer time to me!!!! :) therefore it was irresistible to me!
That's a nice yellow color. 😁
The shape of the pen is almost retro feeling to me !
Right!!! And it is a very comfortable grip I can write LONG with it!!!!!!
Opus 88 pens are marvelous in my opinion. They can be addictive! Check out the new Jazz model; it's one of my favorites.

Thanks for the review! I know what you mean about the TWSBI being a game-changer. (Or maybe gateway drug?)
LOL oh yes I hear you! And to think there was a time when I thought one TWSBI Eco was enough. :)
