Really sorry about your friend. I lost my Aunt and Mother to that disease, but a younger person is always the worst. My prayers will be in my heart towards your family and your friends. Melody gets the essence on Janice. I heard this as a child listening to daytime talk show, think it was Michael Douglas, hearing Janis with her band. And also late night rock shows on poor tv. The style is so good. I don't read all comments, however I might be Paranoid, I have been thinking that there are some out there that will try to Sabatauge (Spl) an Independent band. I support 2 bands. One in the UK and Liliac. Both family and Independent. Think Liliac is on the rise. Just a thought. I love seeing you enjoy Liliac. Janis was my major inspiration when I got older. So when I got to where I sang in bars, I of course sang some Janis and I had the raspy down quite well becuz that's how I sang..... ummm I smoked a lot. BUT I never ever sang it like Melody!! She melts our faces with this song!! Ironically however I am a huge Sam fan cuz the lead guitar has been a big love of mine since I was a little girl, even as a singer. smh ha Thanks for starting us off with a great cover.
As you would know, Christy, blues require lots of feel and LILIAC, especially MeloDia, did an excellent job here. That's what really impressed me about this cover...the feel. And Sam was very good with his backing vocals.

Many covers of this song throughout the years. I'm a fan of any good cover of this particular song and there are a lot of them. There's this thing that so many people try to say how a bunch of artists who cover this song sounds just like Janis. But I doubt anyone has taken the time to do a bar by bar comparison of any of them with Janis. I've taken the time to compare each phrase by Melody and Janis's studio version that's on her album. And Melody is so close to Janis, especially for the 1st verse, it's uncanny. There's a lot of great covers though from other artist too. But they don't sound as close to Joplin's original cut on the album like Melody does. When Melody wants to mimic someone exact she mimics them exact. But she usually puts her own twist on things to make it he own.
Great reaction no one alive today can do Janis Joplin better than Melody she killed it and this is live like I keep saying they are a phenomenal live band.

I would not do The Cristeas- Stay (Rihanna Cover), unless you want to hear only singing but no guitar solos or drums. It's also only the 3 oldest members. Melody was 11 years old for Stay.
