I LOVE the actual analysis basketball talk new basketball media has brought to the space. ESPN, to their credit, has a long history of doing this with Football but rarely with basketball. Glad there’s now somewhere for this kind of dialogue.
Tyrese is flat-out BALLING this season. Averaging 22 Pts 10 Asts 5 Rebs and 2 Steals on 61 eFG%. He definitely deserves to be on the All-Star team this year if he continues putting up these numbers
I do agree with you, he’s having a great year And he’s exceeding expectations for sure I will say the obvious though, he’s now on a team where he can completely dominate the usage and rack up stats
I hope JJ does more of this. Just make it a segment; maybe a play from each conference that he finds interesting for its design, the players involved, and/or how it impacted the game.
You should be proud, in literally less than 1 year, they've completely changed the energy around the organization. Before they were just a borderline playoff team, now (although not a playoff team), they have a real future. Tyrese & Ben look like a future All-Star backcourt.
@@Sai4651 No literally, the heartbreak the past god knows how many years of being mediocre, and finally we got some young guys like this! Feels really good
What a breath of fresh air Tyrese is. Such a normal dude, who loves to play basketball, and is really good at it. Hope he plays in all star game this season.
JJ...I'd love to hear you and Drew Hanlen, Phil Handy, or one of these other elite trainers nerd out on shooting form/skill development. Tyrese's jumpshot is a good example of fundamentals > aesthetics. It looks glitchy (esp from range) because he pushes the ball more than lifts the shooting pocket. If you really break it down, though, he's still squared up to the basket, shoulders are stacked over the hips, off hand guides without interfering, and elbow extends in line from the shoulder. He also kinda throws his feet forward vs. jumping vertically, but that can actually work as a good counter balance for the upper body that keeps you from twisting on release. Like a golf swing, it's the ability to consistently square up on impact (ball release) that matters much more than how you got there (i.e. Jim Furyk). Tyrese's shot may look slow, but because he goes straight up to the pocket rather than dipping the ball, he can get it off pretty quickly. If Dr. Drew isn't changing it, I think he's doing alright.
From Pittsburgh here love NBA but no team. I have players I really like and root for but I've never been loyal to one team but I really like Tyrese and his game. I think I am jumping on with the Pacers as my team as long as he is there anyway. Having McConnell helps to as he is one of the players i root for!!!
Rick Carlisle has to be one best coaches to play for lol. Tough coach but will let you play your way as long as it works and helps the team….. that’s all an player can ask for
Can we talk about how good of a relationship between the player and coach is here? Tyrese truly has no ego, most star caliber point guards (Tyrese playing like one) would just make the pass they feel is right, but Tyrese wanted to run it by his coach first, and Carlile with no ego himself, didn't discourage Tyrese and didn't tell him to stick with the play. The exact type of relationship you want between star player and coach
JJ you have your podcast to give your analysis. So when are you going to getting into coaching or becoming a GM. You never know a championship could still be in your basketball legacy.
Suns could've also had him over Jalen Smith (ironically now on the same team) he would've been an elite 6th man and could've moved into the starting PG spot once CP3 left.
ehhh it's whatever, centers usually take a couple years of playing time before they get up to NBA speed, dubs won a chip and still have a bright future with Wise and Poole
@@ohyeahitsthatoneguy they won a chip without him. Have you been watching this year? He's been awful thus far. You'd MUCH rather have Hali than Wiseman.
@@LDubshawty yeah that's what I wanted....would have given us a scoring punch. And depth. Sticks should have been signed we need a decent power forward. Sun's are not being to bright..should have went after Donavon Mitchell instead of Durant...
Was it a a good read or just bad defense??? I’ll say it was bad defense! NBA still lacking fundamentals and trying to sell it as great offense, so sad!
Ngl I wouldn’t say that.. it was a good read. They were trying to get ready defensively for a different play. If Ingram had gone too close to the shooter, Buddy would have had an open lane either way for a lay or an and 1.
@@3arefob729 I hear what you saying BUT basic 7th Grade basketball inbound defense tells you to: Protect The basket, NO Cross Court passes, and never turn your back to the ball, you should always know where the ball is. Don’t look like that’s Todays NBA defense! But hey, it’s a new generation and traveling is optional offense now. Fundamentals are optional in Sports Today.

that has nothing to do with wanna be new media - you consumed the wrong stuff^^
Please stop with the divisive talk smh
Miss Kobe’s breakdowns
I think Kobe’s ”Detail” was something like that, of course that’s just Kobe analyzing a player himself with his perspective and experience

Nice catch 🤣
Love what the pacers doing. Especially wit Ty and Bennedict Mathurin
And Goga Bitadze
Myles turner has been great too
Selfishly, I want them to somehow be able to victor.. those 3 together would be insane
It’s the pacers be real. They aren’t doing anything with anyone
I hope JJ does more of this. Just make it a segment; maybe a play from each conference that he finds interesting for its design, the players involved, and/or how it impacted the game.
Just to see the progression of the friendship between the Pod and Ty and see both of them progress career wise is heart warming to watch
LOVE THE ANALYSIS JJ MORE OF THIS!
Awesome breakdown, please make sure we keep getting these!
I am so happy my Pacers have a bright future I pray it works Ty and Mathurin promising already
Haven’t been this excited since the Paul George days as a kid. Got a bright future

I think his personality will make him a fan favorite soon for sure!
tyrese seems like such a nice guy
Pacers always gets these type of guys who just ball out every year. hope they keep these young guys together
Love Ty, humble guy and just goes out and balls for us
This clip is awesome! All basketball podcasts need to do more Xs and Os. I swear we all want the nitty gritty, and you all just give us snippets of it
love his game, one of my favorite players right now. perfect example of someone who makes his teammates better
Suns legend Jalen Smith. Love seeing him thrive with Hali, who Suns could've drafted :(
He been inconsistant to start the year but I think that’s just from the much bigger role
All star for certain but that’s really the floor with this kid. The pacers are in a really good position with him and Ben in the backcourt.
For a diehard Pacers fan, getting this guy (Haliburton) has been an absolute godsend.
Basketball aside he is a fantastic leader for a franchise to have
Y’all fleeced the kings ong
Tyrese has been great man really a great player
Ty is such a beast - competitor, intelligent player, works on D, sniper from 3, and now he's got Mathurin in the back court with him?? Phew
He’s been very consistent…for my parlays. Keep up the good work.

I watched him a ton in the early Rico Hines runs and he did a good job not showing that he worked on his shot off the dribble.

I'll never understand what the King's thought process was trading him
Him and De’Aaron Fox didn’t work out together, that’s it
DeAaron Fox 😂
very solid play
I really really like this kid’s game.
He's gonna be great!! I mean he alr is but he gonna be an all-time great. hope man makes the all-star team
Giddey's influence opened the floor
That cross pass looked like lowry to anunoby game winner in the bubble
Take notes espn. This is analysis.
KYLE LOWRY DID THIS PASS TO OG FOR THE BUZZER AGAINST BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why you yelling
Hes like Shawn Marion with a different shot but it goes in. So no need to change it now and Hali shoots from deep too.
Even before the trade I been saying Kings should keep Tyrese then trade Fox for any fair combination of assets and players.
The read isnt crazy, that pass is crazy.
I've been asking for years why don't "players turned analysts" on TV dissect plays like this?
Halliburton the basketball brain
who was the guy in the indie rock band?
