    Your experience is just like mine - still anxious, but not full blown panic. Sometimes I feel like I'm no better, but then I think I'd probably be worse without! I've been on fluoxetine, sertaline and now escitalopram x

    Right now.. you are the only one that seems to be helping... i'm terrified and seeing myself in your experiences really help to see myself from distance. It helps to break the 'spell' and the constant dread of fantasizing about the most terrifying possibities. Thanks so much and please keep up the good work!

    It is a personal thing. If one doesn't work, its good to try alternatives with your doctor. I'm on citalopram, which has been very good for me.

    Ive been on citalopram (cipramil) and sertralin - with a few years apart. I just felt nothing. Flat. Decided to quit citalopram when I had my son, and I felt it went okay. Quitting sertralin for me was a PAIN! I had extreme sweating, brainzaps, pain in my whole body, it was horrible. What REALLY helped me through my depression and anxiety was mediation in group. 🙏🏼

    Are you married? How does he feel about your health anxiety? I am having bad health anxiety recently and I feel like I’m putting a lot on my husband to handle and I don’t want him to start getting tired of me.

      Hey, just wanted to say you're not alone, my poor partner endured 3 months of me being very manic with health anxiety. But, I'm a lot better now (haven't taken any medication in this time, my own personal choice) I just want to say what has helped me drastically. So, I started by limiting how much I googled, I also whenever I was having a pain or weird sensation I would also give myself 24 hours before I phoned the doctor, then lengthened that over time, few days etc. I also changed my diet, I've also had a LOT of tests in this time and have come to accept I'm not unwell, there isnt anything physically wrong with me therefore once I accepted that, I had a shift and feel I can rationalise a lot better. Theres worksheets you can do online with health anxiety. But, to answer your direct question you're not burdening him, share the load it's very important, I'm sure he will understand and support you the best he can x

    Hi!! You are such a positive presence in my life and calm me down whenever I go on my irrational train. I just have a quick question: are cognitive slip ups a normal symptom of anxiety? I started worrying about a brain tumor after I had some ear pain and after the brain tumor worries began I noticed that I was slipping up a lot more often (saying lunch instead of dinner, reading 12:25 on a clock as 12:20, forgetting a detail from a conversation) is this a normal symptom of anxiety and something you experience too? I feel like this could maybe be attributed to me hyper focusing on monitoring myself for slip ups but I’m just scared it’s because of a tumor

    I've been on and off sertraline as well. Recently went back on them after a major relapse of health anxiety/OCD.
    Just like you, it did not stop the thoughts, but it stops the negative response to the thoughts if that makes any sense. I have an irrational thought, see it and move on, whereas before Id believe it, give into it and have panic.
    That being said, SSRIs to me are a great buffer, but more cognitive work and lifestyle changes are needed to feel 100% again. In my case, I need the whole ordeal to feel well, pills included. ❤️

    Anti-depressants only work temporary. Anxiety is caused by emotional, hormonal, and family history. If you have the factors then you likely develop it over time due to some traumatic event that release a lot of cortisol which can lead to hormonal imbalance in the body. It is best to eat a very healthy diet, avoid sugar at all cost and lower the bad carb intake such as processed wheat. Anything that has enriched wheat should be avoided. Eat a diet that doesn't have gluten and you'll be able to reduce body inflammation as well as keep your body's hormonal imbalances down. If you are still getting pimples occassionally is a sign of hormonal issue. This is all fixable through diet by eating a very high floral diet that helps increase your stomach's flora. People don't realize how bad it is to eat processed foods that are causing hormonal issues. People that live and eat gathered and hunted foods do not ever have anxiety.

    I took sertraline and for the first 5 or 6 months it worked really well for me but right after that the anxiety came back stronger than ever, I continued taking it but didn't work for me after that so I stopped taking it all together.

    I had protracted withdrawl after coming off SSRIs too quickly. It has taken me 3 years to recover and I'm still not back to my old personality. I had suicidality and chemical-rage that I've never had before the drugs. I didn't have the same reaction when coming off benzos years ago - but I weaned off them over 2 years.

    I've been on sertraline for 3 years now, 200mg. I still have waves of health anxiety of course- there is no simple cure that can stop those. But the sertraline really took the edge off. I used to never be able to get out of bed during an episode of health anxiety, but with the meds I am able to still live my life. I know im still anxious but at least I can do things at the same time. It took the edge off and made me feel calmer so I could then really get the benefits from therapy. The best thing for me is to take care of myself and KEEP BUSY (not so busy to the point where youre stressed!). HOWEVER... I am TERRIFIED to come off them. I'm not addicted or anything, but I am so afraid of how my thoughts will be if I'm not on the SSRI's. Does anyone know if you're supposed to come off them after a certain amount of time?

    There is a lot of false info in this video. SSRIs can cause very horrific withdrawals and long term use can cause worsening anxiety and depression. They do not address issues of anxiety but could be used for a short time potentially if you need the help, but long term there are other issues associated with them such as dysphoria. Also crazy to take SSRIs while pregnant, can cause birth defects.

    • @cherellethinks
      @cherellethinks  3 роки тому +11

      There’s a lot of false info in your comment. Yes, SSRI’s can cause withdrawal symptoms. Almost every medication can. But it isn’t the case for everyone. I had slightly withdrawn symptoms but nothing I couldn’t manage. My father has been on Sertraline for 10 years, my auntie pretty much all her life and my Nan about five years. Their anxiety hasn’t worsened. They’ve remained stable. For some, it can make people feel a LOT worse and that’s when you need to consult your doctor. But I don’t think you can make the claim that SSRI’s will always make people feel horrific. Dysphoria is a risk yes, but again, not always. SSRI’s can in VERY RARE circumstances at HIGH doses cause birth defects when taken before 12 weeks pregnant. After 12 weeks when the baby is formed there’s no risk. I took SSRI’s with both of my babies after 16 weeks and no birth defects here. I feel that your comment isn’t helpful. Some people may be very put off after reading it. SSRI’s aren’t the be all and end all (in my humble opinion) but there’s certainly a place for them for some people.

    • @Mandance
      @Mandance 3 роки тому

      @@cherellethinks Of course people should do what they feel is best with their doctor, but these drugs dont really fix the problems of anxiety at all, they simply mask some symptoms if youre lucky. The only real way of overcoming anxiety is through acceptance, exposure and retraining how your mind works. I am not completely against SSRIs, i understand in some severe cases, mainly depression, people might need them, but long term its not a real solution and that is my opinion and im totally fine if you or anyone disagrees. In either case, I hope and wish no one suffers any of these things.

    • @cherellethinks
      @cherellethinks  3 роки тому +4

      @@Mandance And I agree that they aren’t a cure which is actually what I emphasised in my video. I believe you have to attack anxiety at all angles. Medication (for some), therapy, diet, exercise, meditation, mindfulness, learning acceptance and essentially trying to form new neuro pathways in the brain. Overcoming anxiety is a huge life style change and many things factor into that. It’s a really terrible thing to have to go through daily. Sertaline helped me some what but it certainly wouldn’t have gotten me out of the hole I was in by itself.
