What is unfortunate here is that historians involved in this exhibition never bothered to look up Jean de France's proper and complete title... it almost seems as if they had not done their job thoroughly. . . Jean de France was: Duc de Touraine et de Berry (Duke of Touraine and of Berry) - AND - was Dauphin de Viennois (Dauphin of Viennois). ...as son of Charles VI 'Le Bien-Aimé' ('The Beloved') of France, he was also Prince of France ...so, much more than a duke here. . . Shame really. . .
Actually, if you listen to the presentation, you will hear him refer to the Duke as the prince, and he references the brothers working in princely quarters. I believe that these men are highly knowledgeable about their subject and would be stupefied if they didn't know the information you gave. If they didn't give his full name it was most likely because it is cumbersome and not important. They are, after all, focusing on the work.

Then look into the technical aspect of how these extremely old books were made. There's a video showing how the animal skins were pulled and scraped to make the pages, along with what pigments were used for color, gold foil, a scribe writing and how the book was finally bound. Wish I could own a book from that time.
Absolutely incredible - imagine how steady your hands would have to be to paint in that much detail? And the patience required . . .
They had about a 6 to 8 month time San for all the details and writings with a team they were busy alright

I believe you can find a facsimile of this manuscript....I once saw one at a library several years ago. I have no idea if it's still in print.
