GREAT VIDEO GUYS !! The Fez hat is totally Moroccan, Turkish people liked it and they started using it, then Egyptians followed them as well, but it is Moroccan and it's associated with Moroccan Andalusi music. Did you guys know that fes is the oldest and biggest madina in the WORLD !? And it has the first ever (oldest) university in the whole world😊❤
I am from this country, I swear to you that you do not even know the truth of this country. This country is one of the worst countries in the world and poverty
Fez, Morocco - The oldest university in the world is undergoing a facelift in the Moroccan city of Fez. Founded in AD 859, the University of al-Qarawiyyin has stood for centuries as a prestigious centre of science and technology.ENJOY UR TRIP GUYS
I'd like to mention that Terbouch El Fassi (Fez) (الطربوش الفاسي) is originally from Fes (as it's name indicates) and not Turkey. It was only popularised by the ottoman empire.
Actually the Fez hat is Moroccan, Turkish discovered it in Morocco, loved it & decided to export it to Turkey, which then spread to arabic countries with the expansion of the ottoman empire.
The beauty of the city of Fez is that you see the appearance of the buildings from the outside, very worn and dilapidated, but you are surprised by their appearance and the wonderful Moroccan Andalusian architecture from the inside, and what is characterized by the inscriptions and decorations that are harmonious and very beautiful.
That Madrassah in Fez happens to be the very First University in the World...didn't anybody tell you? When the Moors from Morocco colonized Spain they brought with them the concept of a university. Anyway, I commend you guys for trying camel burgers. I will only ride a camel caravan but won't try camel meat. Buffalo meat yes, camel meat no. Have you ever sniffed them? ;-) Btw, I will need to go back to Fez for that Riad. Lastly, that hat Matt tried on is called a Fez hat. It cannot be Turkish. I got one myself! Just remember, Fez is a World Heritage City.
Karawiyine university is the oldest ´operating’ university in the world. Operating means still working without interruption, ( for sure there were some older univesities in India, persian .. but they do not exist now ir nit operating anymore. Also karawyine in fez was the first to bring the concept of practical courses and supervision in many specialities Many famous scientist philosophers graduated from or affiliated..
It's beautiful video nice vlog Fez is spiritual city in Morocco great job exploring this amazing city keep going welcome to Morocco 🇲🇦 big up for your journey
I am from Fez. And so is the Fez hat! That red color dye for the hat was only found/produced in Fez, Morocco, just like the clay used in Moroccan Zelij/Mosaic. The Ottomans liked it and started wearing it too. They imported them from Fez, Morocco. Later they started making them themselves, in a higher model. I feel like you should make a video to correct that statement.
Thank you for this wonderful video! I have experienced the extreme culture shock! It is incredible! I totally agree with you that Fez is Morocco's rawest city!
Harriet and I have been To Fez. The old Medina had a certain vibe, pretty intense. The smells are incredible. The food incredible, The Old Architecture incredible , The chaos incredible (in a good way). Your senses are truly heightened. Great Memories for us. Harriet and I are loving this series. Sending you much love .🙏❤🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.
I am from this country, I swear to you that you do not even know the truth of this country. This country is one of the worst countries in the world and poverty
This old part of the city has so much medieval influence that it is evident in the lifestyle of the people here. It is very nicely captured by your great effort.
I just discovered your videos by chance today and i am enjoying your trip to morocco so much! I love the energy and fun in your videos. I hope you had the chance to visit Agadir as well by the way ❤
5:15 The Ottomans called the fez “Fes” in relation to the Moroccan city of Fez, which was the main production center for this type of hat in that period, and which provided it to many Islamic countries, especially the Ottoman Empire, which adopted it as an official uniform since Sultan Mahmoud II assumed the throne of power The beginning of the nineteenth century (1808). At the time, the Sultan saw the red cylindrical fez as an alternative and competitor to the Western hat, and the red fez began to take an important place in the Ottoman dress inside the Ottoman palaces, and later spread among scholars, pashas and the high class in society after the issuance of the sultan's decision. In the 1840s, the fez became part of the uniform of Ottoman soldiers, with the exception of cavalry and artillery.
I can see why our kingdom honored you protected you and blessed you all the beautiful trips ❤ you have good pure hearts for having empathy for the hard workers in our historical leather factory 🫶

I am from this country, I swear to you that you do not even know the truth of this country. This country is one of the worst countries in the world and poverty
Fez was founded by Idris II in 789 AD and made it the capital of the Idrisid state in Morocco. The year 2008 celebrated the 1200th anniversary of its establishment and is home to the first and oldest university in the world, Al-Qarawiyyin University. 😊
Thanks guys! Really nice series!. Originally Morrocan 😊 Maybe next time, you would try riding camels. Also, nightlife in Casablanca is fantastic, especially in Ain Diab and Mohammedia!
Good Morning guys. Another great video. Nice to know how people live, eat, and their different culture. I am glad you both are having a wonderful time. What I am going to say, please do not take it to heart. This has been brewing for quite a while. I heard it on the News about 5 months ago. If you haven't been to Indonesia, and if that country is on your travel plans. The rules are know changed. I just received an email from a friend from Indonesia. She said in that email, that if a couple is not married. They cannot share the same room together. Aussies go to Bali in the thousands every year.So it is going to be a blow for tourism in Indonesia. I take this girl on my holidays to Bali and Thailand. I treat her as my daughter. I helped her with her education. Sent her to Uni, and today she has a very good job in Petroleum and oil, and I am proud of her. She is about 32, and the only bread winner in her family. Take care. Cheers.
the fez actually IS from fes that's where it gets the name from the ottomans called it that after the city because that's what they used to call morocco
The city of Fez was built in the eighth century and contains many ancient monuments, such as the shrine of Moulay Idris, the founder of the city, and like the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the oldest university still studying to this day, in addition to the oldest psychiatric and mental hospital, and more exploits left by successive countries to rule the city over the past 12 centuries.
The hat is from Fez, not from Turkey, they just added 1 cm to make it a little bigger. Even Turkish call the hate "Fez", and the hole Morocco for them is "Fez" because of it's notoriety it the middle ages.

Very nice video. I hope you enjoy the rest of your journey in Morocco. As for fez the hat, I think its name says all. Turkish who adopted this hat, took it, also, all over their empire, or occupied territories, from north Africa (except Morocco, that the Othman empire could not conquer) to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon... It's them that gave this hat the name of Fez or Fes. Meaning Morocco or Moroccan. The Turkish still call Morocco Fes.

I'd like to mention that Terbouch El Fassi (Fez) (الطربوش الفاسي) is originally from Fes (as it's name indicates) and not Turkey. It was only popularised by the ottoman empire.
I drove three days from Ceuta, Spain, to Rabat, to Meknes, then to Fes. The Medina is amazing.
