GREAT VIDEO GUYS !! The Fez hat is totally Moroccan, Turkish people liked it and they started using it, then Egyptians followed them as well, but it is Moroccan and it's associated with Moroccan Andalusi music.
Did you guys know that fes is the oldest and biggest madina in the WORLD !? And it has the first ever (oldest) university in the whole world😊❤

I'd like to mention that Terbouch El Fassi (Fez) (الطربوش الفاسي) is originally from Fes (as it's name indicates) and not Turkey. It was only popularised by the ottoman empire.

Actually the Fez hat is Moroccan, Turkish discovered it in Morocco, loved it & decided to export it to Turkey, which then spread to arabic countries with the expansion of the ottoman empire.

The beauty of the city of Fez is that you see the appearance of the buildings from the outside, very worn and dilapidated, but you are surprised by their appearance and the wonderful Moroccan Andalusian architecture from the inside, and what is characterized by the inscriptions and decorations that are harmonious and very beautiful.

That Madrassah in Fez happens to be the very First University in the World...didn't anybody tell you? When the Moors from Morocco colonized Spain they brought with them the concept of a university. Anyway, I commend you guys for trying camel burgers. I will only ride a camel caravan but won't try camel meat. Buffalo meat yes, camel meat no. Have you ever sniffed them? ;-) Btw, I will need to go back to Fez for that Riad. Lastly, that hat Matt tried on is called a Fez hat. It cannot be Turkish. I got one myself! Just remember, Fez is a World Heritage City.

I am from Fez. And so is the Fez hat! That red color dye for the hat was only found/produced in Fez, Morocco, just like the clay used in Moroccan Zelij/Mosaic. The Ottomans liked it and started wearing it too. They imported them from Fez, Morocco. Later they started making them themselves, in a higher model. I feel like you should make a video to correct that statement.

5:15 The Ottomans called the fez “Fes” in relation to the Moroccan city of Fez, which was the main production center for this type of hat in that period, and which provided it to many Islamic countries, especially the Ottoman Empire, which adopted it as an official uniform since Sultan Mahmoud II assumed the throne of power The beginning of the nineteenth century (1808).
At the time, the Sultan saw the red cylindrical fez as an alternative and competitor to the Western hat, and the red fez began to take an important place in the Ottoman dress inside the Ottoman palaces, and later spread among scholars, pashas and the high class in society after the issuance of the sultan's decision. In the 1840s, the fez became part of the uniform of Ottoman soldiers, with the exception of cavalry and artillery.

Good Morning guys. Another great video. Nice to know how people live, eat, and their different culture. I am glad you both are having a wonderful time. What I am going to say, please do not take it to heart. This has been brewing for quite a while. I heard it on the News about 5 months ago. If you haven't been to Indonesia, and if that country is on your travel plans. The rules are know changed. I just received an email from a friend from Indonesia. She said in that email, that if a couple is not married. They cannot share the same room together. Aussies go to Bali in the thousands every year.So it is going to be a blow for tourism in Indonesia. I take this girl on my holidays to Bali and Thailand. I treat her as my daughter. I helped her with her education. Sent her to Uni, and today she has a very good job in Petroleum and oil, and I am proud of her. She is about 32, and the only bread winner in her family. Take care. Cheers.

As for fez the hat, I think its name says all. Turkish who adopted this hat, took it, also, all over their empire, or occupied territories, from north Africa (except Morocco, that the Othman empire could not conquer) to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon...
It's them that gave this hat the name of Fez or Fes. Meaning Morocco or Moroccan. The Turkish still call Morocco Fes.
