    I first went to Fez in 1972, I was 18 years old and it was quite an experience, went there again a few years ago and the Medina had hardly changed, it is like walking back in time to the Middle Ages. After spending some time in Fez I had an amazing trip to the Atlas Mountains and traveled and camped with a Berber tribe, yet more amazing experiences, sleeping under the stars in the desert riding on Camels. Do you plan on going into the desert, there are many trekking groups you could join?

    Hey Gabriel, you find more dead ends than anyone I know. Lol I find it fascinating that you do exactly what I used to do. Back when I was young in the 60's and 70's I found if you look like you knew what you were doing noone would question you. My old traveling buddy would get into some very private places and no one would even question us. There were a few times we were told to leave but it was always politely done.
    I have the feeling that you are feeling more comfortable in Fez than the previous city's, me too. You don't have all the people offering to show you places or trying to get money out of you. I understand that they are just trying to make a living but when you say no to one person and take two steps and another person is doing the same thing to you it must be getting to you.
    I am looking forward to your next video my friend. It's always a pleasure seeing it pop up on my phone.

    I appreciate your videos so much, Gabriel. I found your channel a while ago and, like many others, have been silently stalking you ever since! I love that you approach things completely without ego. You come across as down-to-Earth, humble, and without judgement. You admit when you make mistakes or when things don't go so well, you admit that you don't know everything about a place and you're willing to learn. And yet, there is a quiet sense of experience and confidence about you. As an English teacher, I love that you are so well spoken with an outstanding vocabulary :p I love your 'boots-on-the-ground' approach to filming. And the sense of wonder that emanates from you when you're in a new place is really heartwarming. Right now especially, you're a breath of fresh air for someone living in the state of Western Australia where our borders are locked tight because of this darn pandemic. I look forward to bumping into you somewhere and buying you a beer. Thank you :-)

    Just like with Turkey being more Anatolian than Turkish, I think almost all Moroccans are at least partly of native origins, ie. arabised berbers. So you can’t really say the berbers were there first then came the Arabs. It’s the same with countries like Egypt. The DNA haven’t changed that much since the Iron Age.

    • @moroccanurbanmusic833
      @moroccanurbanmusic833 2 роки тому

      That's right, studies have shown that all Moroccans are predominantly of Berber ethnicity (70% of their DNA) with a mix of Arab, South European and West African ethnicity for the remaining 30%.

    Hey Gabe, loving the videos in Morroco. I'm here in Malaga Spain making content and keep in mind the Ferry runs from Ceuta or Melilla (Spanish autonomous cities in continental Africa) to Malaga for only 30 something Euros or you can catch the ferry from Tangiers (Morocco) to Tarifa/Algeciras (Spain). There's much faster internet here :D Take care mate

      Do you know if the ferries are running now between Tangier and Spain or Gibraltar? I was trying to figure it out but couldn't find a clear answer.

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos looks like the route to Gibraltar is still suspended.. however, I keep finding daily ferry trips (with omio app) from both Ceuta and Melilla to mainland Spain (Algeciras, tarifa, malaga, Almería) etc .. it seems like Morocco and Spain can’t seem to figure things out right now for political and health reasons. I’m sure you already thought about going to Spain but it still hasn’t been 90 days since you left the EU so that’s why you wanted Gibraltar. Makes sense. I hope you find a solution or buy some time.

      There's fast internet in Morocco too, it's just that the places he goes are probably not well covered.

    Hi Gabriel, Those narrow are incredibly confusing to navigate around I think the natives know this and realize they have to guide them around which is why they approach foreigners because most if not all get lost.

      Yes, it is challenging to navigate. But it is fun to figure it out on your own. The unwanted hustler guides charge you as you can see in Gabe's previous three videos on Morocco.

    You did good on the video. Yes they seem a tiny bit more aggressive in sales. Could be because of post covid start. If you are still in that area...make sure you get a glass of tea filled with the fresh tea leaves. You went to the best location for the tannery. We also bought nothing there.
