- This is a stream I did for Red Hook on their Steam page when the game came out. I figured it'd be good to keep and show y'all since I explain a lot of things to the new players, as well as there's a clean Resentment win at the end so you can learn how to fight the boss too.

Resentment took me a lot longer than I think it did most people. I didn't build for the boss I just played what I wanted. I managed to beat it with PD/Jester/Flag/Leper. Only the Flagellant survived. I got a few lucky front-side breaths, and some conveniently timed finales at the back lung. Can't wait to beat Obsession with the exact same team, completely unchanged.
Update: I just beat Obsession.
My team started as Occultist/Jester/Grave Robber/Flagellant. It ended as PD/Runaway/Man-at-Arms/Flagellant. My three characters died in a fight against the general in the first area. I got the trophy that locks your team order in place.
But I didn't get PD, Runaway, and MAA at the next inn. I got Runaway, MAA, and Hellion. The PD was a last minute replacement after the hellion died to the cultist boss.
The MAA was the only one to die to the confession boss.
Damn I beat Denial 3 times and Resentment once before Obsession was my first party wipe on a confession boss. But now that I know how it works I think I'll beat it next time I get there
My first time clearing resentment I didn't have the range to deal with the back lung. I damage rushed it and Flagellant was the only one who made it out. Obsession I could of cleared first try but my healer died and they gave me Audrey. I couldn't damage rush Obsession 🥲
First time, when I didn't know what the boss's gimmick was, I got annihilated. Didn't have enough damage for the back lung. Second time, I had both Hellion and HWM to deal with the back lung... however, I was dumb enough to put them in rank 1+2, so when Hellion got shuffled back by the boss, I got blasted and died in shame. Third time I tried it, it was almost perfect until I got some very unlucky rolls in damage and blinds, and also funnily enough, Seething Sigh is the only confession boss to have DBR, so even though I reduced it to 0 health and attacked it 2 times after+the bleed on it, it just refused to die and killed all except the Leper. The Leper swung one final blow against the thing... and it resisted that too. Then it ate my Leper, but he had Reverberating Redoubt on, so it ended up dying to the return damage, but the game still counted it as a loss. I ragequit so hard there.
On the fourth try I just went in with the most meta-ass team imaginable for this fight (Sharpshooter HWM, Surgeon PD, Vanguard MaA and Ravager Hellion) and smacked it to hell and back without losing anybody. Still felt like shit though. I don't like fighting this boss in a game where there are very few heroes with reliable 4th rank damage. I want Arbalest and Houndmaster :(

I would love more overexplained runs! They are so helpful for new players to get their bearings and learn the thought processes they need to develope to do well.
I've been playing DD for a couple years and put in massive hours into it but DD2 feels really new to me in a lot of ways. I dont usually watch long form content but i learned a lot of little, not-so-obvious things from this 'overexplained' stream.
my only real issue with bosses like Resentment and *especially* the Librarian is there just aren't enough characters with rank 3 4 reach, and its the reason I've been advocating for Arbalest or someone similar to return for awhile now.
A combination of PD, OCC, Rank 1 Hellion, Runaway, Highwayman, Vestal and Flagellant should give you maximum reach. That's half the roaster.
I've been running the starting squad with their best paths for a speed run through all confession and it's doing wonders.
@@davil1829 PD Runaway and Flagellant don't do enough raw damage, Occultist and Vestal are too slow with their consistent ranged damage and Highwayman is the closest we get to a ranged character, but his sharpshot ranged play style is literally the same two buttons in every encounter which isn't very fun to use.
Blight is chewing through Librarian, the main Lung and most enemy encounters. OCC is fast with 5 speed and Vestal's Consecration of Light helps out with damage a ton. Oh, and GR does almost as much damage as HWM, which was funny when I first used the starter squad.
Also, how dare you calling my boy HWM boring to play?! But considering your choice of character, you might've just slapped him in rank 4 and clicked Take Aim and Pistol Shot.
@@Korhi if you only push 2 buttons on sharpshot highwayman you are playing terribly inefficient. Tracking shot is amazing in the sleuce, pistol shot can be used over double tap when stunnable or unreachable otherwise, grapeshot and take aim for buffing and removing blind...
You can claim just about everyone has their 2 most clicked skills, doesn't mean u use them without any consideration to their kit.
With Librarian you can at least shuffle the books which will shuffle Librarian allowing slightly more comps to work. Sigh on the other hand is play the mechanics or damage rush it down. I have done both for Librarian and Sigh. Bleed seems to be a pretty weak dot and it is true that effective rank 4 damage dealers and rank 4 hitters are rare. I'd like bleed and rank 4 addressed with the next hero but I'd rather have the low end heroes fixed and more enemies added first.
17:00 Mantra is a damn cool skill, cause it can heal two characters up to 100% hp
I mostly use it right before the battle is over (super good in encounters with multiple fights), or 1 turn before the buffs should expire

Resentment kicked my ass the first time, had no idea what the fight entailed. Tried a party with Ravager Hellion, Deadeye Grave Robber, Sharpshot Highwayman, and Seraph Vestal. Killed 3 out of 4 lair bosses (including Leviathan) plus the Resentment boss, worked extremely well with this setup, everybody was still alive at the end. Only lair boss left was DG, had to skip him because the path he was on would've maxxed my Loathing.
Can’t wait so see your video when you defeat ambition, I did it yesterday on my 2nd attempt. Without going into spoiler territory this early I am interested in the strategy, I found one that worked for me but I am not sure it is the intended one?
Hi , maybe it has already been requested, but could you make a guide about quirks. which ones are a mustpick and which to avoid ? also some of them i dont even know what they do, like tippler or greedy
Yo i know this is an old video, and im doing act 2 for the first time, but on the last inn i have a jinx crusader and a really good plague doc, and a flagalent with a quirk of 20% more hp, is it worth putting memories on them ????

ya know, i almost left a comment asking for exactly this after I made it to the second confession boss then flubbed it.
I was quite pleased to watch this.
I am left with just one question, in the case where you would have not had the stress reducing combat items, what might you have done?
For stress right now my only real solution i feel is man at arms with bolster during combat or whittling tools/pipeweed at inns.
Also, as i watch/type this comment, i'm playing through the second confessional with occultist (warlock), plague doctor (surgeon), grave robber (deadeye) and man at arms (bulwark).
I will say i was looking forward to playing warlock occultist, coming from WoW as a destro warlock main figure burning stars would be like chaos bolt type of stuff.
However, I almost prefer ritualist. The curses and the interactions with removal, setting up the other characters, is pretty damn neat.
Late, but if anyone else reads this: Jester is the best stress healer in the entire game.
I beat sundering sigh without hitting the lungs a single time, although 3 people died, and it took a resolute, multiple death blow resists and some other good luck to do so
yeah me too, but i'm luckier than you since my party didnt get wiped because almost all my party got relationship like reduce stress and dodge token in all of my usually use skills. Maybe thats because i'm a new player (played crack last year since its on epic) so i only use heroshrine to take the skill i need to run, i use openvein hwm + surgeon plague doctor, soloist jester and ritualist occultist bleed team so when the boss started to deep breath its already on 30-40 bleed. Just pass Obsession boss today
Hey Shuff, great content. A few days ago i had an street fight in the sprawl and seemingly out of nowhere came death and killed 2 of my characters in a short battle. Can you tell us more about secret encounters/bosses? Thanks

I ran PD, GR, FLAG, MAA. For a blight build and PD died halfway through the last area and was replaced with Leper. So I put MAA in the third slot and somehow it worked?!?

You should make the best team for each run. It could just be the best team you've made, but I'd be curious if there is a difference.
Hello, I wanna say that your content for dd2 has been great, but one thing you keep saying specifically in the tierlists is that you don't rank them for how strong they could be with teammates or paths which I think is off since unlike trinkets and quirks which yes basing tierlist around those would be pretty funny you do get the control over which teammates and paths you bring to the run. By that I wanna say I would like to see a tierlist, and I think it could just be fun in general, of how strong characters can be when you build around them.
Also if you end up doing some meme builds later one team I think could have some potencional could be hellion, leper, flagellant and man at arms since at first glance they're all frontliners but the new flag can kinda work and pull of some good healing from rank 3 and the MAA still has some decent support abillites in rank 4, after that you can run tempest and ravager to pick up the damage.
