That image of elected blacks refusing to applaud good news for blacks is unforgettable. Regarding black so-called leadership, that says it all. It's better to suffer under a black president than prosper under a white one.

Sowell’s lengthy personal history shows he has never had the slightest trouble changing his mind when empirical evidence pointed out flaws in his comprehension. The one-time socialist nearly epitomizes Irving Kristol’s famous definition of a neo-conservative as a liberal who has been mugged by reality, except that in Sowell’s case, one must drop the neo prefix.

What Trump was most right about, and what he adressed in his farewell speech, is the importance of energy independence. Europe chose not to secure this, and now that every rope is torn, we face all the difficulties from that. The most ridiculous leadership is of Germany, that stopped nuclear power, but keeps mining lignite, the least effective coal to sell it, then proceeds to buy electricity from Poland's coal plants, and on top of that Nordstream gets blown up. But the people are starting to see more clearly what they should do.

I have read several of Sowell’s books and highly recommend them. He has the ability to transcend race (yours, mine, his own) when he writes very thoughtfully about the problems that people face and how race may play a role. He’s doesn’t preach, he doesn’t make excuses, he certainly doesn’t play the race card in attempt to justify the reality, he doesn’t play the victim, and he doesn’t get political (even when writing about politics/policy). He lays bare the facts of why we are the way we are, how we came to be that way, and what we can do to be better. And then he leaves it to the reader to decide what they think about the information. The only thing difficult about reading one of his books is that you will have a new and more accurate understanding of the subject matter…but then you’ll have to continue to hear/see the stupidity that is the MSM and the internet. 😮

@@Rachel-xr9gy Interesting, because I was just reading a Reddit post which asked: If you could only read one Thomas Sowell book, which would it be? And
      PugnansFidicen answered:
Depends on what areas of indoctrination/misinformation you encounter most often.
If I could only recommend one it would probably have to be "A Conflict of Visions". The philosophical clarity it brings to the modern ideological tension between conservatives and liberals is hard to beat.
But, if you are very interested in issues of social justice and race (or have family who constantly bring up issues in this realm as I do..) then "Discrimination and Disparities" is indispensable, though it is much more narrowly focused. Or, similarly, if you have an interest in economic issues and are not yet familiar with non-Keynesian approaches to economics, Basic Economics is great too.
      Hope this helped you. 😊

Accurate statement. He was probably like that long before he came into office.
But is that one of the liabilities of attaining high office, learns to act that way? I didn't see that in Obama, who seemed comfortable in his own skin.
I see it in my own PM next door, and I think the habit extends to others in cabinet. Just today I watched a cabinet minister dodge and weave for several minutes, virtue-signaling as he went, to avoid admitting a mistake.
So in this case the 'corporate culture' forbids honesty about failure.
Well, no one can be justified before God by insisting on his own self-righteousness. And if we believe that God loves us, we need not keep up pretenses with other people. There are also simple ways of admitting fault without spilling one's guts in public.

Was Trump doing what is good for the people when he set up a fraudulent college to scam uneducated people? Trump really cared about the people when he lied and he downplayed the severity to the public telling the country the pandemic would be gone by Easter 2020- but a month and a half prior he was telling Bob Woodrow in February that it's going to be a really big concern. Sure felt like he was doing what's best for the people by preemptively telling voters that if he loses the election that it's rigged, but if he wins it's fair 🤔
If you think someone that sets up a fraudulent college to scam money from less educated people is a "good representative", your either high or in on the grift.

I too had my doubts of Trump at first, honestly didn’t take him as serious as I should have. But when he was the winner of that election, I decided to give him a chance to see how he would do, and gave him 100 days in the office to study whether he had what it took to be a leader or if this was just something to add to his list of criteria he wanted to put for his own legacy. By the first 100 days, I am honored to say he humbled my perspective about him and saw that he was taking his oath to serve our country with real determination that I have ever witnessed a president do. I do believe he has his blind spots like we all do and it has the potential to hurt both him and the country, but he made serious effort and the results showed how much he cared for the US. Despite what the establishment has attempted to defame him and his family’s legacy, he still delivered those punches on our behalf of those of us who were about to lose hope in our country.
Thus, he earned my respect more than any politician who has sat in that room for decades making a career by just sitting in those damned seats, while our country wasted away. And that is what scares the establishment the most, their time of sitting is now ending.

"Trump might have seemed like a businessman out for his own interests at first"
Actually he never was, that was simply the media portrayal of him which many people, myself included got sucked into. If you go watch interviews with him from throughout the 80's and 90's he has always had a consistent message about the problems in America and how to fix them. When he took office he went about delivering on his promises. Strong economy, lowered the cost of living, lowest unemployment, No new wars started and suppressed both North Korea and Russia while in office. His record is outstanding, but some people prefer being in the toilet to reading mean tweets so here we are...

Dude is/was interested in his legacy, and general supply side economics… which when applied are a net benefit to everyone. But it’s hard to summarize things that draw from many lanes of expertise and experience. Like how lower tax percent generates more tax revenue where more taxable commerce takes place because of the lower rate…Few even understand capex because socialists trained the last generations.
