This type of ambient music really helps me stay focused, much more pleasant than plain white noise and less distracting than lofi with a beat. Thank You!
All of my productivity is possible because of you!!! Really can't tell you how many times i've had this track on repeat! A huge help for someone with huge ADHD problems. Thank you mate, just wanted to know what a big impact it's had for me.
Apparently, a game called Otherside features this very same ambiance in the first area. If you're curious and want to have a look yourself, here's where you can get the game: benlap.itch.io/otherside
Thank you. Experiment as much as you can. Ambient music is a huge playground for any kind of soundscape imaginable. Don't be afraid to throw in unexpected sounds or atmospheres. Always be curious and open about possibilities.
@@ForgottenDawn do you have a modular synthesizer? have you heard of VCV rack? have you tried that? I also want to create sound like the one you made here. im still just trying to understand most of the modules available though as well as sound design in general. ideas for this soundscape are difficult to come up too
@@ipo7596 I tried VCV rack once, but I can't quite wrap my head around it. I guess I'm too used to Kontakt and wavetable, as they feel more intuitive to me. I agree it's pretty hard to come up with your own soundscapes completely from scratch, which is why I tend to have a hybrid approach to my ambient tracks-a mix of real, manipulated recordings and synths.
@@ForgottenDawn I see. I believe VCV rack has had recent improvements and the first time I touched it, it felt familiar because of the way the modules can be arranged like in real life. anyway, if you ever have or make tips for your sound, ill be glad to be notified. THanks!
can i ask how many separate tracks/layers there are to this? I'm trying to learn how to make my own ambient music and this is like exactly the sound im going for.
Hi, thanks for your interest! It's been a while, so I'm writing from memory. I remember using up to 5 different layers: a base ambiance, various background ambiances to support/shape the main sound, and a noise layer. It's a bit like an abstract painting. You can blend different textures together and see what comes out. Have fun!
@@ForgottenDawn thanks. i appreciate the quick response. did you favor any particular software to get that nice lofi muffled sound or was it more about tweaking the eq ?
These days I use tape/vinyl/wire emulation plugins. I didn't have those at the time, so I remember using cutoffs and doing manual EQ work. Bitcrushing and some light distortion also works when used sparingly.
@@ForgottenDawn Hey thanks! i might use some of your other stuff then if thats cool too! and if you want to take a gander... ua-cam.com/video/NhFxN5P-IgE/v-deo.html thats the video, goes live on the 13th

Depends on the type of project. I didn't have Valhalla back then (2017), but I still occasionally prefer the lo-fi crust over drowning everything in reverb. Just a matter of taste
This ambiance is now available for download at the following link! forgottendawn-main.bandcamp.com/track/1h-002-lo-fi-space-ambient-drone-music
Finally a soundscape without any strange random melodies

I'm super curious, what kind of instruments do you use to create these sounds? It's always fascinated me
Various synthesizers, virtual libraries and sometimes my own recordings
