We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

#lights #diy #ledlights
You might have to screen it off because lights that bright will bring every bug from a quarter mile 😅.
Another FANTASTIC job!
New LED lighting is always a satisfying feeling lol. From one industrial maintenance hand to another great job as usual, Evan.
You might want to seal between the light fixtures and the ceiling to prevent wasps and mud-dobbers.
We don't deep fry our morels, just saute in butter. The casserole looked tasty.
The way she cooks. I am surprised you don't weight 300#s😂
WOW those lights made a big difference! I think it's hard sometimes for folks to have the perspective of how truly dark it can get in the country without street lights and light pollution. Looks great and I am sure you will enjoy it for years to come. Great video as always buddy!
You need to use Wago connectors. They have been a game changer for me. Those would have fit through that hole for the upper lights. Great job!!
A very infighting video 😊 as a retired electrician I really enjoyed watching you setting up your outside light fittings.
Beautiful Grill , I've wanted one for a couple of yrs , but I don't have the room. And the size you have is great...Enjoy. happy cooking...
My wife used to be in baking contest when we owned a pecan orchard. Everything had to have pecans in it. I was an awesome taste tester...
Lots of light mean lots of out door cooking. Next a picnic table for coffee and sampling.
Wow, the light's are fantastic, what a change ! I LOVE YOU GUYS !!! 🥰🥰
My mother would have loved it. Canning heated up the house. And frying things, outside, nice
thanks for your great video, i am always waiting for your viedo..alwasy..appreicated for your efforts.😀
You have a natural smile, and sometimes you looklike you are about to bust out and laugh.
French Toast with Captain Crunch cereal coating is our family favorite for special occasions.
I put 400 watt led lights on my barn. Best thing I ever did for wintertime feeding.
She is a great cook you need to keep her love your videos thank you
Yum! Hard to believe morels are ready in March! The breakfast casserole too. I’m watching jyst before supper, now I am sure I will over eat! The lighting looks great. Thanks for sharing. Keep checking items off the list.
Winner, winner, French bread casserole dinner.
Cook, my brother!
Wow, Evan! What a HUGE change in the lighting. The mushrooms look delicious.
You got that lit up like a surgical suite! I like!
I would be glad to let my wife enjoy ALL the mushrooms she wants! Tim in northern TN
Love the light output for your side porch area. A true cooking kitchen now. Would love to have the recipe for the French toast casserole...the one you said was the best. I hope you will share it. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Kudos to you for installing ceiling boxes! Retired electrician of 45+ yrs
I think Evan can install ANYTHING!! Man's incredible.
I used to grill year round, not every nite but close. I live in new hampshire, so I would have to shovel out to and around my grill. I absolutely loved it. I'm disabled and live in a city now, I miss it, but I did get an air fryer that's as close as I can get to a good char.
You are never too old to grill.
The lights look great ! I installed some (Solar LED Security Lights) a few years ago that have their own batteries and Solar panels and are motion activated and those work very well for putting lights around the outsides of buildings that come on if animals come up around them. Adding lighting does make a difference.
I’ve got three. One on the driveway entrance and one on each barn. Had the one on the drive for three years.
Very good job. They can see it from the space station.
Nice job…again showed you ingenuity. 👍👍👍
I love French toast casserole, add nuts and cooked apples. Yummy. At Christmas I use the Italian panettone bread for Christmas breakfast.
Spring Fever... yep...
We have a grill outside our back door... and grill all winter... but yes... It's time for the ground to thaw.
Try putting them on a piece of bread and butter. You will love it.
Great job Evan and Rebecca. The lighting will be a big help for sure. Nice mess of mushrooms Rebecca, try some honey mustard dip with them. Those breakfast casseroles looked good. Have a great time at the Easter Breakfast. Stay safe and keep up the great fun you two share. Fred.
Thank you for sharing! Love the lights!
We need the Recipe for the French Toast Casserole
those light are nice and one you put for cook with very nice
You forgot about all the night bugs that ❤ Bright lites . Moths..mosquitoes
Thanks for sharing. I love your barndo. I'm working on building one here in Alaska.
I cannot find any Morels on my property in KY. I grew up in Indiana and it was a yearly event. Mom would fry them up and we literally passed the plate around and picked one at a time so we each got our "fair share". Man, I'd love to find some now...
Safety glasses!!!!! 😎
We always let our morels sit in salt water for a while. Kills any little critters. Then sauté in butter. Frying is too harsh. Hope you left some “seed” mushrooms for next year. People came into my grandma’s property and stripped every last morel for two years. We never found another morel ever again. 😢
Those are making my mouth water good job.
When you said that your ladder was too short I thought you were going to do the trick that we did on our barn when I was growing up. We would put the ladder in the bucket of the loader. One of us would hold the ladder as the other person would raise the loader, then you could lean the ladder against the barn and climb up to replace the light bulb in the fixture up in the peak.
Thought the same thing with the loader in the background
Like seeing the pups. Enjoying the channel. Tks for sharing.
We live in Southern Indiana and lots of people have moved into the area from Illinois due to the tax difference.
Good job, you must have or be a electrician, I would want to screen in the cooking area I hate fly's and bugs!
If you put the bottom of the house you both could lift the ladder and then pull the bottom out to climb.
I got lucky because my building already had an outside light and so right after we moved here i put up a led light and my building is a cream color so the light repells better. My building in Illinois was brown so the color wants to absorb the light. I bought all my lights off Amazon which was cheaper than the big box stores. I also like to look at the reviews and sometimes check them out on UA-cam.
I always have cocktail sauce to dip breaded mushrooms in, not sure what else is used. Those French bread casseroles look great!
everyone around here says that mushroom hunting is an adult version of easter egg hunting
With those lights every bug in southern Illinois will be on your doorstep
Mount the other wall light where dog door is
We just put all led lights all around the farm here ... game changer for sure...
I love this channel and I’m watching from Sydney, AU. I’m from Lamar, MO and enjoy the midwest feeling that this channel always gives 😂
I love the lighting update but as a photographer I wish the kelvin temperature (cold vs warm light) was considered more often for the ambience and warmness that the cooking area could have. Love you all!
In this part of Michigan, there isn't much difference between the price of morels and the price of gold...great hunt Rebecca!!!
Let there be Light ⚡💡
Hello Evan Rebecca lights look great. The mushrooms looked good. Enjoyed your video have a great day.
You fully explain what and how you do projects....and that makes a great video.....My Daughter has 2 dog just like you're dogs....and lots of mushrooms, too. You 2 are great...keep videos coming !!!
If I put up that many lights over my outdoor cooking area where I live I would have lots of bugs in my food. One of the nice things about spring is not so many flying bugs at night.
Morel cream soup is the best.
More of these posts so natural and love you both being you. Lights are very nicer and mushrooms bet they were delicious.
You hit the wrong nail??? lol
Great Video
I would have put a 1/2” chase bushing in the ceiling light fixture mount to prevent the wiring from getting cut.
Best be shopping for a giant bug zapper .
Yeah, some awesome lights you have there, great job Evan! You can't go wrong with LED lighting, they cast a lot of lumens at a very low cost. We love morel mushrooms, you get them a little earlier than we do, looked great. I like french toast, but my wife loves it, she can't get enough of it, give what you can't eat to the chickens. Enjoyed watching, I hope you and your wife has a wonderful week.
Success !!!
👍😃
Have the same wall lights though might have a different brand name on them. Been pretty happy with them until one failed a few months ago after about three years use. Those bread pudding style cakes are great for socials as is but served with tea or coffee.
That French toast casserole freezes well. I cut it in pieces and wrap it . Reheats great in the oven or microwave.
LOL chicken would love the French Bread . Nice lights ,
Thanks Guys
YAY! on those 'shrooms! Personally, I think it's like eating rubber; but I know she loves 'em, and I'm for anything that Miss Rebekah loves!! (Be sure to crispy burn a Morel for me!) SCOUT wants that bread! And I've heard that two tablespoons of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar in cold water with a little pink him salt is a good hack for sugar cravings! And it's already hit 80 down here in Jacksonville!
That really looks good! I am like a postman I grill 365 Blizzard or not I will cook !
Best part of living in a rural area is escaping the lights. Not sure why people light up the area around their house and barn like a prison at night.
Hi guys, the food for the church looks fantastic. I wish I was there to try. It looks very tasty and yummy. Good to see you going to church in the Bible. It says when a man finds a wife he finds a good thing in favour from the Lord Evan, you have favour because of your life. Thank you once again for the Videos really appreciate you guys and may God bless you From Australia
I have seen you on many latters, they are all scary , please be safe. The lights are great.
Flush mount lights are better in my opinion. Ceiling lights with a conduit drop tube will welcome birds to nest.
good point.
As a powerline worker I was cringing at the way you guys stood your tall ladder. Always, Always place your feet behind the ladder feet with your inner soles hard up against the feet. This takes away any balancing issues and is much safer.
U should 3way the switch for the porch lights. Run a 12/3 uf wire underground to the house.
Let there be light 🪔💡💡💡🕯️🔦🏮
i picked up several sunforce solar 3 head lights through sams and have been very happy with them around our farm very bright and have lasted pretty well , and have put in the harbor freight shop lights 5000 and 5500 lum in my new shop great lighting on the cheap
Thank you for another great video!
If your like me , I do not like wire nuts because they will back off. The lighting makes a big difference.
Lighting is nice. Hope it isn't a bug attractant. I have an issue, especially with June bugs & avoid using lights to cook at night due to bugs
2 years, is that how long the barn has been up? Feels like I watched that video yesterday
You'll be able to be seen from space!
Rebecca, do you have room at your church for some of us to attend and eat your French toast casserole?
My o my those mushrooms look goooooood.
Usually you do this install/wiring as you build the structure....Mucho easier??
Eat it up looks good!!
thx
Your ceiling is dirty because of the cooking; perhaps you should consider an extractor.
Really nice
Lights worked out good.
Ouch , that thumb 👍 been there done that
🙂
when will you work on the allis chalmers
living up there and you're still buying that corn syrup? Come on guys, move into the world of real maple syrup! lol
Maple syrup is better than the corn syrup alternative. We only use corn syrup for some things but mostly maple syrup in our deserts and breakfast
Moss Family just recently made a breakfast casserole with bagels and said it was the best French toast they ever had. Just an FYI Rebekah. 😊
I’m curious if you wash your mushrooms Rebekah, since all the top chefs now seem to, then fry them until the water is dissipated and they reckon the flavour is more intense.
I recently developed a severe reaction from shiitake’s, which I love. 😤
