Hey Mohan, That's a tough question to answer! If your happy with what you have now then I'd be inclined to just say to stick to what you have, however having never used the eWelink app myself (I always flash straight away) it's hard for me to say. Does the eWelink app require internet connectivity to work? If so then that would be an advantage of using Tasmota!
1. Sonoff zigbee devices do not function properly under ewelink. See snzb-03 example, while under Tasmota in HA same devices work flawlessly... 2. You never know when the Chinise cloud stops crashing, and it never does so far.. 3. Device limit gone 4. You can have devices of different manufacturers on single network
hi, first i was not able to connect with bridge as per the jumpers arrangement. Then came to a reddit discussion where many people advised to connect Z_RST to GRD as well in addition to GPIO0. I am able to flash successfully this way , tasmota AP appears, i can connect and enter my wifi ap details. bridge can connect to my router and i can access it with IP. the problem i am facing is that it is constantly connecting and disconnecting to router , normally both LEDs on bridge are off but every 20- 30 LED1-Zigbee (green) on bridge blink and then LED2-Wifi (blue) starts blinking, meaning its disconnected to router and then it connects again but few moments later again LED1-zigbee blink and LED2-wifi also starts blinking and bridge is disconnected from router again. I cant proceed further with flashing zigbee chip. I tried falshing bridge several times but same happnings....can anyone help whats wrong am i doing?
Thanks, I should have gone straight to your video, the two previous tutorials I followed failed to mention your point 7:34 where you selected the newly created template. Without that it was not starting the port 8888 part.
Thanks 👍 Do you think this would give noticeable response time improvements over stock Ewelink? I use the Sonoff SNZB-01 button with it through Home Assistant (local mode) and I find response time a bit too slow. I would flash to Tasmota if I could get improvements in response speed.
Do you know if Zigbee devices themselves (sensors, buttons etc) are secure in the sense that they don't "phone home" like I would expect a stock device to do? Is all that connectivity handled by the bridge and we cut any unwanted activity out by flashing Tasmota to it? No 3rd party phone apps with cloud components doing god only knows what?
Nice video, all worked out, i want to inegrate the tuya plug TS011F in the ZHA, wich is possible I saw in the blackadder list. But how to pair this switch to ZHA because pairing is in bluetooth mode. What do I miss ? Thank you?
Same issues here, version 1.1. With color box orange. Flash was successful, when locating then inputting network and password with option of changing device name and saving. The bridge powers off and blink blue for a bit and powers off. Reflashed a couple of times with the same results. Did you get yours up successfully? UPDATE: I Was able to figure it out. Works great. Thanks

@Lewis, thank you for the great tutorial. I managed to get the bridge working but I was intending to use the bridge as an extender while keeping the Nortec plugged in. Is there anyway I could do that, or any other way I could add other bridges to extend the range? I don't mind removing Nortek. Thanks.
Hi - can you confirm what firmware and ncp-uart files you used to get this working? I have tried just now with latest version in Tasmotizer (10.1.0) and ncp-uart-sw_6.7.8_115200.ota, but when I flash the latter using the over-the-air firmware uploader, it says "invalid file signature". I have tried resetting and reflashing tasmota from scratch, I get the same thing over and over. I thought the latest version of Tasmota zbbridge firmware was a problem, but noticed you posted this in the last day so wondered how you got it working? Thanks in advance!
Yeah that's right! I just didn't show that incase people were using other tools so that I could demonstrate the first screen you might get, but good advice!
Hi there. Fantastic video worked a treat. I decided to do with as I though it might be a reliable solution. Great video, it worked for me and I have used the bridge with home assistant for more than a year but now I have a sonoff dongle and would like to go back to original firmware to use it elsewhere. is it possible?

Hello, Im trying to reflash sonoff zigbee bridge with tasmota, I connected it with serial to USB adaptor and now its blinking blue and green is constant and I get Failed to connect to ESP8266: Timed out waiting for packet header when I try to flash. It wont enter flashing mode, it already had tasmota on it but I changed the network and reflashed but no AP showed up, so Im trying to reflash it again but no matter what it wont got into flashing mode again, I redid all the cables again more than 5 times to make sure they are correct and then are. Any help?
Hi! Great video, your explanations are really clear and easy to understand! I have some (stupid, i think) questions: 1) Will this allow me to control all my scenes and zigbee devices locally (with no internet connection)? 2) Do I have to flash tasmota to every zigbee device in my network for it to be located by this hub? 3) After flashing tasmota, will the hub stop working on ewelink app? Thanks, in advance and congratz for the channel!
Thanks Igor! This does all work locally but you'll need something else like Home Assistant to control it. You don't need to update firmware on any other devices just the bridge and yes the bridge will stop working in the eWelink app! Hope that helps!
@@EverythingSmartHome Thank you very much for the fast reply! I've been studying a lot to automate my home and I needt it to be controlled locally, especially due to all alarm automations with zigbee sensors. Louis, great video as always! One question for you, few years back Zigbee's appeal was that WiFi routers could not handle too many devices but that does not seem so relevant with latest routers. Do you see Zigbee as a viable and long lasting tech say 5 years from now? One a side note, Tasmota is awesome! The few devices that I flashed do not even attempt to communicate outside the LAN for any reason and it is quiet a relief!

New to Zigbee - I have the Bridge and tried (xiaomi) Aqara door/window sensor - oddly, the device adds to ewelink app and I see a quick green led flash on the bridge when I make/break the sensor but there is no status change on the app (I also want it in SmartThings and it shows there, but does not change state there either - probably because it does not in ewelink!) I don't use HA so is process essentially same except the last stage? SO then how do I pair if not using ewelink or HA?

Hey Paul, thanks for the kind words! You should be able to use the Tradfri stuff but I haven't tested it so not 100% sure but they should in theory work!
Hello and thanks for your videos. They help a lot. I have a Conbee 2 USB stick connecting my Zigbee devices - and I have 100+ og them. Will this be a better way for me to go? Does the Sonoff Bridge with Tasmodo have any advantages here?
Hello and thank you for watching! If you are happy with the way it works then I wouldn't suggest changing. One advantage of this is the placement of the bridge. You aren't tied to having it plugged into your HA server you can place this anywhere in your home but other than that no real difference

Hey man, great video! I was able to flash my Sonoff ZB Bridge without any problems. I want to ask something though. Thanks!! Is there any reason you need or want to upgrade? If everything is working correctly then this is one of those times I would recommend just leaving firmware alone if it works, and that's coming from someone who loves to update 😅
@@EverythingSmartHome I wanted to update to 6.7.8 because I am an update freak and want the latest firmware most of the times (as long as it works of course). In this case, I took into consideration the changelog for 6.7.6 that said "contains a bug that can cause battery of IKEA and Philips remotes to drain". So, since I have 2 IKEA and 2 Hue remotes in my home, I thought it would be better to get on the 6.7.8 version. But the upload fails constantly and maybe this is due to the Tasmota version I installed (9.3.1). As you say in your pinned comment the latest versions have issues and it is advisable to flash a previous version (you recommend 9.1 while others say that 9.2 is fine too). So, the question is: in order to downgrade to Tasmota 9.1 will I have to go through the same flashing process as in your video (USB flasher, cables and all)? Should I download a previous version and choose that .bin file to flash the ZB Bridge with? Edit: I went to "Configure template" page via the Tasmota UI, I changed the Template parameters "Based on" from "Generic (18)" to "Sonoff ZbBridge (75)" and I was able to upgrade my firmware to the "ncp-uart-sw-6.7.8_115200.ota".

Good video ! But I think that the Sonoff ZB bridge with tasmota is probably the worst Zigbee experience comparing to other solutions (I tried many : zigate, conbee, z2m, SLS, xiaomi gw v2, v3, ...). I find the UI poor, the pairing hard, the events limiteds, the compatibility bad. I’m not a fan of zha too... But with the big tasmota community it will getting better in the futur. Make a try, you will not be disappointed 😉

2. You never know when the Chinise cloud stops crashing, and it never does so far..
3. Device limit gone
4. You can have devices of different manufacturers on single network
@@powerofwisdom2336 you mean flashing the bridge will let me add an unlimited amount of zigbee devices?
hi, first i was not able to connect with bridge as per the jumpers arrangement.
Hello, use an older version, the version I'm using in this video is stable, later versions seem to have issues
@@EverythingSmartHome thanks, using old version of bin file worked
eWeLink will not work after this point right?
Thanks, I should have gone straight to your video, the two previous tutorials I followed failed to mention your point 7:34 where you selected the newly created template. Without that it was not starting the port 8888 part.
Thanks Matthew, glad you got it working!
It'S working only with zha? not possible with Zigbee2MQTT
Thanks 👍 Do you think this would give noticeable response time improvements over stock Ewelink? I use the Sonoff SNZB-01 button with it through Home Assistant (local mode) and I find response time a bit too slow. I would flash to Tasmota if I could get improvements in response speed.
Responsiveness is great in my experience so far but I guess it could be dependant on your environment and devices!
Wow bro!! we can it!!
Great tutorial! Keep it up :).
Thanks dude!
Thanks
Feel free to hop into the discord and I can try help you out! I had the orange box version too so I don't think it's that, but I've seen that there can be issues with dry solder joints on the chip
@@EverythingSmartHome thank you for the reply. I managed to figure it out.
Nice, what was it?
Being new to tasmota and not understanding the flash process. I'm used to devices flashing light letting me know I'm awake! After flash it blinked 3 times and went off. I thought it was unsuccessful, but then decided to check my ip address and bam! there it was. Thanks for the useful tutorial.
Hi I follow the full process until the end for my Smart Lock ZKTeco DL30Z and the result was "The device is ready to use" but no Controls to open and close the door any ideas how to continue? Thanks
Hello. Great video, again. I've done this well. Now I got some blitzwolf SHP13. And working well on HA. The queation is... is there any ways to put and on off agenda.inside.the socket? In case home assistant fails.. like we used to do at eewelink app? Thanks in advance
Flashed everything had it working but a month later the bridge is down in HA. deleted the integration and tried to setup again but wont let me setup at serial port settings. not sure why?
On the tazmotizer you can easy send your wifi and mqtt details with "send config" safes you a lot of playing around.
Yeah that's right! I just didn't show that incase people were using other tools so that I could demonstrate the first screen you might get, but good advice!
Another question. Will it connect any Zigbee device or just sonoffo ons?
Hi there. Fantastic video worked a treat. I decided to do with as I though it might be a reliable solution. How ever after about 12 hours of all devices working perfectly gradually they have started dropping off the network.
Is there any idea why devices keep doing doing ? They all have good battery life.
Hi great vid , just woul;d like to know what would happen if you chose to upgrade the firmware using the OTA Url instead of downloading the file as recommended , thanks again
Great
Great work thank you
Got mine working but i got a problem after i disconnected the hub for about an hour and connected back all my sensors state stuck and not updating what could be wrong?
Thanks! Re-pair your devices and then leave them for a while, ZigBee takes a little while to work out its pathways

I have some (stupid, i think) questions:
1) Will this allow me to control all my scenes and zigbee devices locally (with no internet connection)?
It seems to be VERY hard to make everything work together. Could you please help me just a little more :D?
1) I've saw some zigbee2mqtt dongles, do you know if it's better than flashing the hub like you did? How about the number of devices each method can control?
2) If I opt for HUBITAT instead of Home Assistant, will I have the same difficult to control every scene and devices locally?
3) There is a lot of information on youtube and right now I'm completely lost, as your channel is the best that I've seen, I would like to know your opinion: Which would be the best option for me?
Thanks!

Hi!
Any recommendations about a Zigbee bridge but with LAN? Thanks!
Thanks! It's very hard to predict but yes I think ZigBee will be around for the next 5 years at least!
Tasmota is excellent, along with ESPHome!
Nice video! But I just cant get the jumperwires through the tiny holes! Do you use a spesific brand etc. of wires?
Thanks! You can apparently use pins or sewing needles to do it too, that might be worth a try!
@@EverythingSmartHome I used staples after straightening one end to fit the holes and folding over the other to double it to fit the female end of the DuPont wire.
Nice and quick explanation. Sub'd

Flashing was used Tasmotizer, and also NodeMCU-PyFlasher, both whit the same results.

Is there going to come "Matter / Thread" firmware for this bridge?
New to Zigbee - I have the Bridge and tried (xiaomi) Aqara door/window sensor - oddly, the device adds to ewelink app and I see a quick green led flash on the bridge when I make/break the sensor but there is no status change on the app (I also want it in SmartThings and it shows there, but does not change state there either - probably because it does not in ewelink!) I don't use HA so is process essentially same except the last stage? SO then how do I pair if not using ewelink or HA?
Hello! Sorry I'm not sure the question and not sure if I'm the best person to answer since I never used the eWelink app at all, I flashed as soon as I opened it!
Great vid just stumbled on your channel, just ordered the bridge with the intention of flashing it and handful of different sensors from sonoff.

I flashed it with the "ncp-uart-sw_6.7.6_115200.ota" but I now want to upgrade to the latest "ncp-uart-sw-6.7.8_115200.ota". Any ideas on how I can do that? When I try to upload the file and upgrade via the Firmware Upgrade from the Tasmota UI, I am getting a "Upload Failed - Invalid file signature" message.

My advice is always to test SLS gateway : it is probably the easiest , most powerful and the best Zigbee gateway but it suffers of a lack of notoriety due to the fact that the russian author of this project doesn’t make efforts to make it famous outside Russia. Make a try, you will not be disappointed 😉
