As a Scot I think you’ve overlooked the Fagerson’s and Tuipulotu. Also think Kinghorn should be ahead of Duhan, not as powerful, but stronger under the high ball and still got plenty of pace and a bit of physicality about him. Beirne, Doris and JGP looked nailed on. For England does Underhill get a look in? Such a brilliant tackler. Lake for Wales? Reffell and Morgan good players in a very competitive position! I’d also go for Russell at 10, call me biased but his experience would be vital and also a terrific defender in amongst his other attributes.
Got to disagree with your Welsh pics and im Welsh. Unless any Welsh player produces a monumental 6N then only Tomas Williams will go as 3rd choice 9. He's playing some great rugby at Gloucester and at the moment is the token Welsh pic. Ireland 16 players England 13 Scotland 6 Wales 1 would be about right.
@@user-is9ofas long as Smith is at 10 wherever he plays then russel or smith can do the job. At 15 Smith is suspect and you have to have him on the front foot at 10 to get the best out of him.
What have either wingers ever done.....nothing.....what has furbank ever done in a big game....nothing. look at what Keenan has done....two absolute tools
For a Lions 23, I want a physical and explosive back line, a creative scrum half/Fly half pairing , a bruising pack and a massively experienced bench. The video clearly has a very strong English Bias. There is no chance Furbank starts over Keenan. Garry Ringrose starts over Lawrence. Finn Russell over Marcus Smith ( Farrell probably brings Finn Russell, Owen Farrell and Jack Crowley). Dan Sheehan is as nailed on a starter as possible, Jamie George is as nailed on a hooker off the bench too. Lawes for me comes off the bench and bruises teams. I think Beirne starts at 6 for added lineout stability. Joe McCarthy and Maro Itoje are absolute monsters and they would be needed in the pack as the Aussies have some big boys in the 2nd row. I think the tightest call in the entire squad is going to be between Duhan Van Der Merve and James Lowe and I think Lowe just about takes the jersey. Duhan is elite but Farrell relies on James Lowes big left boot so much that I can't imagine he goes without it. The bench is where I want a huge amount of experience an know how because you need calm experienced heads to see out games. Jamie George, Zander Fagerson, Courtney Lawes, Conor Murray and Owen Farrell are the perfect amount of experience and leadership you need off the bench. Andrew Porter, Jack Willis and Blair Kinghorn offer game changing ability off the bench. 1 Ellis Genge 2 Dan Sheehan 3 Tadhg Furlong 4 Maro Itoje 5 Joe McCarthy ( Together with Itoje, they would monster teams) 6 Tadhg Beirne 7 Josh Van Der Flier 8 Caelan Doris (c) 9 Jamison Gibson-Park 10 Finn Russell 11 James Lowe 12 Bundee Aki 13 Garry Ringrose 14 Immanuel Feyi-Waboso 15 Hugo Keenan Subs: 16 Jamie George 17 Andrew Porter 18 Zander Fagerson 19 Courtney Lawes ( Imagine bringing this lad on when your starting to get tired) 20 Jack Willis 21 Conor Murray 22 Owen Farrell 23 Blair Kinghorn ( Between Farrell and Kinghorn they can cover 10-15)
@@tobyslater2011 I know he isn't what he used to be but he is vastly experienced and still has an eye from tries. Alex Mitchell will make the lions tour but I want a massively experienced bench and you can't get more experienced than Murray.
"Tomos Williams, don`t know much about him but he`s playing well for Gloucester..........." He`s had 58 caps for Wales and been to two RWC`s!! Come on boys, at least try.
I think that the 15 have a good chance to be in a 38 or 53, but unless England beat Ireland in Dublin this year, I think its unlikely that the order is what you think it is. If anything, you would have to assume that Farrell will pick his Lions team starting off with his Irish team and going from there. There is no hope of anyone who is not in a current England 23 being considered as a pick, like Lawes and Danny. I would even be astonished if he picks his son ahead of Russell and the Smiths. I wouldn't completely discount Frawley and Crowley either.
They’ve literally mentioned one Welsh player and two Scottish players and then picked 8 English players 😂😂😂😂😂😂 they did it with a straight face as well.
Last time I saw something this unfair, it involved a courtroom and a former NFL player trying to squeeze an old, shrivelled leather glove onto his deliberately untreated, arthritic hand.

Russell Aki Jones VdM Keenan Lowe Fagerson Lake Healy Ryan Lawes Tomos Williams, Smith, Ringrose Very close: Van d Flier Itoje Rowlands Tuipilotu Lawrence M FW Reffell Kinghorn Darcy Graham Wainwright D Jenkins Darge
Think it’s safe to say, we are all glad Danny care isn’t picking the lions team. Furbank, waboso, George, genge and Lawrence don’t have a hope of getting in the starting 15
Lets get this straight, 8 England players from a team that's lost the 8 of their last 10 matches, with the 2 wins coming against Japan. What a lot of bollocks!
I think I would go 1. Porter (Shoeman, and Genge also to tour) 2. Sheehan (George and Lake also to tour) 3. Furlong (Fagerson and Beelham also to tour) 4. Itoje (Martin to tour) 5. Beirne (Mccarthey to tour) 6. Lawes (Fagerson to tour) 7. Van der Flier (Tom Curry also to tour) 8. Doris (Earl also to tour) 9. JGP (Mitchell and Williams to tour) 10. Russell (Smith and Farrell to tour) 11. Lowe (Graham to tour) 12. Tuipolotu (Aki to tour) 13. Jones (Lawrence to tour) 14. Feyi-Waboso (van der Merwe to tour) 15. Keenan (Furbank to tour)
In what world are Porter and Sheehan not in the squad? Come on lads stop being homies!! And a debate over Keenan??? Hansen is fit again btw. There are other Irish players that should have been chosen but these are obvious!! But honestly George over Sheehan is hilarious
I'm English and don't imagine seeing 8 starting England players (unless there are some injuries, dips in forms etc). Russell likely starts (although he hasn't been on the best form so far this season - we know he steps up in an international shirt and every player can have a few games where they are not at their best). SMith makes a good like for like back-up and would be great for a 20 minute hustle at the end of the games. I don't see Lawes starting, or Furbank - thought they could both be on tour. Genge could be a bigger benefit off the bench. Ringrose is also a starter for me. So we are down to a more realistic 2 starters of Itoje and Feyi-Waboso. And even Waboso isn't that safe, but I think he is the most consistently entertaining winger, he could easily be on the bench. Smith, Genge, George, and potentially Lawrence (as he can play 12 and 13) are more likely to be battling for the bench.
I feel like you guys didn't watch any URC or Scotland games in the last year. Glasgow won the URC, winning away semi (at Thormond Park) and final (at Loftus Verfeld). So much of both Glasgow and Scotland's success recently has been the centre partnership if Tuipolotu and Jones so to not even see them mentioned is poor. Scotland & Glasgow also have the Fagerson brothers. Zander has been key holding down the tight head and while I'd agree furlong is easy starter, its a bit harsh not to mention Zander. I think Matt Fagerson is also a good shout for the back row although I'd be happy with what you selected. Surely Darcey Graham and Blair Kinghorn should be in the mix for the back 3? Duhan is great ball in hand but a little vulnerable to ariel battle and Lowe/Kinghorn are arguably much better at that and clearing kicks. If Lawes can come in from international exile to lead, could Rees Zammit come in from rugby exile to start on the wing? I think Finn Russel is better in a new team environment. Finn makes every player around him better even in one off teams like barbarians, he opens gaps for forwards to crash through or space wide for the backs. While I think Smith is great individually, I have seen (more in England than quinns) him make a break using his pace and talent but in a way team mates weren't expecting that leaves him exposed to being turned over. I'd start Russel with smith on bench covering 10&15. Russel can play (and defend) 12 well so there are quite a few options and permutations that could happen if we needed to shift the attacking shape. Berne and Itoje are a little too similar and act in alot of cases more like back row than tight 5. I think to pick them at 4/5 you need a 6 who will contribute to tight 5 work (as Lawes does). Its a problem when your 1 plays like a centre/backrow and 3 plays like a fly half/backrow. It all looks great but you need guys there to do the hard work in all the rucks/tackling to allow guys to do the flash work of getting over ball or securing the quick ball to run the options we would like.
My 23 from a realistic Welshman 15 Keenan 14 Emmanuel Feyi 13 Jones 12 Bundee 11 Duhan VDm 10 Russell 9 Jamison GP 1 Porter 2 Sheehan 3 Furlong 4 Maro 5 beirne 6 Morgan 7 Earl 8 Doris 16 lake 17 Shoeman 18 Fagerson 19 Martin 20 VDF 21 Tomas WIliams 22 Marcus Smith 23 Kingholm
Only Tomos Williams as a sub should be considered from Wales. Morgan has had no playing time due to injury and unless he has a monumental 6N he wont travel. Williams is shining at Gloucester and if he keeps it going will be a token welsh selection. Got to realise Ireland have such strength and England shortly behind them. As long as Marcus Smith is kept away from the 15 jersey the Lions will be a difficult unit to beat.
A quick nod to Danny for replying to so many of the comments, even the ones just throwing toys. Interesting 15. Formidable. I would still select Dan Sheehan at 2. Wouldnt choose Porter as much as I like him, because he has a tendency of giving the wrong picture to the refs. Feyi Waboso is potential stardust, but Keenan has made about 2 mistakes in the past 2 years. I like safe hands at 15 under a high ball. That centre pairing could be scary if they manage to run the midfield and communicate properly (although Aki is a bit of a card magnet!)
My XV 1. Genge (17. Porter, either or for me. Baxter is a bolter for me) 2. Sheehan (16. George) 3. Furlong (18. Fagerson) 4. Itoje (19. Chessum) 5. Beirne 6. Ben Earl 7. Van Der Flier 8. Caelan Doris (20. C Cunningham South or Dombrandt) 9. Gibson Park (21. Mitchell) 10. Marcus Smith (22. Finn Russell, can be a direct replacement or Smithy can move to FB) 11. Mani Feyi Waboso 12. Tuipilotu 13. Lawrence 14. Lowe 15. Kinghorn We genuinely have an embarrassment of riches, in everywhere but Wales I think (which is sad because I want all the nations to contribute). And there’s so many playing in France. I think we could pick any XV from the squad he might pick and walk Australia; which says a lot about where the Wallabies are atm.
I'm surprised Ben Earl didn't even get a mention. Backrow is exceptionally competitive from all 4 home nations but thought he'd get a mention at least. Given Curry so injury prone and I don't think he's been at his best for a number of years I'd take Earl over Curry.
People in the comments need to chill. Id have keenan and sheehan in there for sure but its a bit of fun. Tupolotu and ringrose would be a nice balance at centre, genege and porter is a tight one. Id also bring owen faz.
Not surprising that a massive english biased here, it would be an obvious call for Andy Farrell to field a few Irish players, but Andy is a bigger man than that, he has selected, JGP, Frawley and Osborne when they were not first team picks at club level, so in true ' Lions' values he will spread the 4 nations into the squad. Doris for Captain!
That's a bit nutty Geoff. I don't think Big Faz will be worried about representation of the 4 x nations to win test matches...he'll want the best players on the pitch to get the job done. 50% of their pick is non-English. Thanks for your opinion though. Cheers, Team HDiff
I could be wrong, but 8/15 is not 50%, only 1 scot and no Welsh, likely there won't be many Welsh lads in the entire squad and possibly none in the best 15, but I could envisage a higher number of Ireland players followed by England players and 2 or 3 Scottish players, still interesting to get others opinions. Thanks
@@DannyCareYTJust a bit of banter although the bookies have odds on 10 Irish, 4 English and 1Scot, and thats with Owen Farrell at 10. Not sure Farrell snr will follow the bookies picks.

Part of the beauty if Lions tours is there's always a hand full that put their hands up once they're there and in the squad.
I think you could put James Lowe on either wing and he would give you a better back 3 combination and balance, doesn't have to be the best individual in a vacuum pick.
Love the boldness! My pure (and biased) blockbuster 15 would be: 1. Genge 2. George 3. Furlong 4. Itoje 5. Beirne 6. Earl 7. Doris 8. Van Der Flier 9. Gibson-Park 10. REES-ZAMMIT [Super unrealistic, but I reckon it would be fun to somehow get him back from the NFL for a cameo] 15. Marcus Smith
Little Faz as captain!!!! That's bold, but we like it...why not...he's world class and in the test arena, is a proven leader. He'll defo be in the squad. Cheers, Team HDiff

Best list, so far
After his shockers in the prem this season I'd rather see Marcus Smith over Russel and maybe bring Russel off the bench
Why would you downgrade Ireland with those Scots?
They both probably don’t want the URC Doug.
You do know Andy Farnell will have more irish than English and rightly so
Think you guys need to watch a bit more rugby!
Whats the point being pundits if you just pick your mates and have very limited opinions.

23 Blair Kinghorn ( Between Farrell and Kinghorn they can cover 10-15)
Love the detail and thought process here. Don’t agree with everything but lots of sensible logic 10/10 from us!!👊
Conor Murray? It’s not the 2017 Lions v NZ tour
This is the starting team for me:

Last time I saw something this unfair, it involved a courtroom and a former NFL player trying to squeeze an old, shrivelled leather glove onto his deliberately untreated, arthritic hand.
15 will be Blair Kinghorn, Hugo Keenan or Liam Williams
Jack Willis (Toulouse) for Lions tour!
Loving the content boys & your 1st test team is epic! However personally I’d go for
1. Porter
2. Sheehan
3. Furlong
4. Itoje
5. Beirne
6. Lawes (c)

To not even mention Kinghorn, Tuipoloutu and to pick George ahead of Sheehan - makes this a bit of a farce!

the english bias is extraordinary.
I think I would go
1. Porter (Shoeman, and Genge also to tour)
2. Sheehan (George and Lake also to tour)
3. Furlong (Fagerson and Beelham also to tour)
4. Itoje (Martin to tour)
5. Beirne (Mccarthey to tour)
6. Lawes (Fagerson to tour)
7. Van der Flier (Tom Curry also to tour)
8. Doris (Earl also to tour)
9. JGP (Mitchell and Williams to tour)
10. Russell (Smith and Farrell to tour)
11. Lowe (Graham to tour)
12. Tuipolotu (Aki to tour)
13. Jones (Lawrence to tour)
14. Feyi-Waboso (van der Merwe to tour)
Only 1 Scot? They've dominated the Calcutta Cup in recent years.
If its this team, I'm selling the tickets I've just bought... ffs
Very interesting selection here lads...not at all biased😂😂😂..hardly worth debating 😂

Tuipulotu and Aki is the midfield that the world needs to see
A quick nod to Danny for replying to so many of the comments, even the ones just throwing toys.
My view as follows
1. Porter
2. Sheehan
3. Furlong
4. Bierne
5. McCarthy
6. Doris
7. Flier
8. Dempsey

10. Russell

So England as finished 3rd and 4th in the table in the last 2 years and they have 8 starting players😂😂
But finished 3rd in RWC.Think about that Ed.
Tommy Reffell from Leicester Tigers and Wales should be going on the lions
1st pick is choosing between two english props haha

1. Genge (17. Porter, either or for me. Baxter is a bolter for me)
2. Sheehan (16. George)

4. Itoje (19. Chessum)
5. Beirne
6. Ben Earl
7. Van Der Flier
8. Caelan Doris (20. C Cunningham South or Dombrandt)

11. Mani Feyi Waboso
12. Tuipilotu
13. Lawrence
14. Lowe
15. Kinghorn
We genuinely have an embarrassment of riches, in everywhere but Wales I think (which is sad because I want all the nations to contribute). And there’s so many playing in France. I think we could pick any XV from the squad he might pick and walk Australia; which says a lot about where the Wallabies are atm.
“This is not just picking our mates.”
Marcus Smith at ten.
Genge Sheehan Furlong, Martin & Beirne, Doris Morgan Cunningham-South, Gibson Park & Smith, Tuipoloto & Jones, Keenan Duhan and.. Wade!

Farrell? You're having a laugh!
Thanks so much for doing these videos DC. Keep it up!
Itoje never had a bad game? You can’t be serious
George couldn’t carry Sheehans boots
I'm surprised Ben Earl didn't even get a mention. Backrow is exceptionally competitive from all 4 home nations but thought he'd get a mention at least. Given Curry so injury prone and I don't think he's been at his best for a number of years I'd take Earl over Curry.
I am an England fan, but this team is too England heavy.
People in the comments need to chill. Id have keenan and sheehan in there for sure but its a bit of fun. Tupolotu and ringrose would be a nice balance at centre, genege and porter is a tight one. Id also bring owen faz.
Wise words Mike!
Thanks
@@geoffnelson6756 Can't cut a player in half Geoff, you get the point right?
@@DannyCareYTJust a bit of banter although the bookies have odds on 10 Irish, 4 English and 1Scot, and thats with Owen Farrell at 10. Not sure Farrell snr will follow the bookies picks.
It should be Ireland plus Russell at 10, Duhan on the wing, easy, there’s no need to downgrade them with any more English or Scottish players

good concept for a video / podcast :)
Well done Mr Care a good watch.
Welsh and Scot’s are gonna kick off 😂😂
Finn Russell should start
I think you could put James Lowe on either wing and he would give you a better back 3 combination and balance, doesn't have to be the best individual in a vacuum pick.
