I was SET on working out while pregnant. I can walk on an incline for about a mile and then I get Braxton Hicks. I was annoyed at first but I’m so grateful for what my body is doing and I’ve learned so much about my body through this! It’s been hard but I’m adjusting!
I’ve said it before but I’m so happy that I ended up being pregnant the same time as you, your content is always on point! Im 23 weeks pregnant now and for my first trimester I hardly did any exercise because of nausea and a stubborn cold, not what I had planned for... During my second trimester I started back on my normal routine with weights. My main form of cardio has been playing dodgeball which isn’t an option while pregnant so for the last couple of weeks I’ve been on the indoor bike for cardio and I’ve had to gradually decrease the weights (not very heavy to begin with). I find it hard to accept that I can’t do as much as I’m used too but try to keep in mind that there will come a time when I can workout properly again. As I get further along I know I need to focus on prehab since I’m naturally very flexible and need to strengthen all small stabilizing muscles around my joints to avoid injury. I don’t want any dislocated shoulders this pregnancy!
I walked 2 miles a day with my first pregnancy and I swear it helped me deliver my baby and avoid a csection through a very long 41 hour labor! Now I’m pregnant with #2 and I walk and do squats everyday. It’s helping me avoid back pain and restless leg syndrome at night 👍🏻👍🏻
I do 4 day music festivals every year and I just got back from Bonnaroo this weekend. I'm 17 weeks and had to take it so easy. I was constantly out of breath and had to take so many extra breaks. I feel so good walking and being active and outside but we have to let our pregnant bodies relax. Were built to do this! Happy pregnancy!
Postpartum I think we need to prep our mindset the most - to avoid frustration and depression! I think we just need to mentally prepare that at least for the first weeks, there will be no routine and that is okay. Our babies need us :) also to take it easy. Unfollow people that give you unreal expectations etc...just take it easy and eat nourishing foods and give your time to your family. Oh and plan support in advance (i.e. any friends or family member to come over and help you out so you can rest as much as possible)
I said the same about working out before I got prego. It’s so hard when al you want to do is lay on the couch! At least you’re doing something! You’ll get back to your old workouts in no time!
I’m about to be 32 weeks and nesting hardcore and let’s be real, that’s a workout in itself 😂 I hadn’t worked out since a few months before getting pregnant and so I haven’t been working out but have been trying to walk/just move in some way. Taking the stairs at work and what not.
Totally relate!! With my first I inclined walked and did weight exercises and yoga. No running, jumping, burpees, etc. And I was making this comment and was about to mention E+E and then you mentioned it 😜 Sounds like it might be important to focus on those pelvic floor muscles since you felt that urge to go potty when running!
Oh the expectations! I thought I’d continue running my 7 miles per day... I do a few squats and I’m getting Braxton Hicks... and now the heat, and I get nauseous and overheated after 10 min outside (I live in SC, the freaking humidity). Yes, I was going for 2 mile walks with my toddler in the stroller in the first trimester and a half mile down the road,I’m about to pee myself.... I’ll get back to normal (new normal) eventually! That’s ok :). I got in the best shape of my life a year after my daughter was born. I’ll get into shape again later!
First month, when I did the test, I was running 3 miles everyday. When I reached 8 weeks, the morning sickness started and that was me floored. I was shattered all the time, achey and had zero motivation to go a walk nevermimd a run. Come week 19 when the morning sickness left, I attempted a run, it felt great! 3 very slow miles in fresh air. Then I stopped, and it was agony. For about 3 days any movement just caused agony round my pelvic area. So bye running. That's been a struggle to adjust to. I've found zero motivation to try anything else. Been trying to bring walking in at regular intervals through day and use birthing ball to sit on at home. Maybe next pregnancy I will be more prepared mentally and physically for just how much of an adjustment pregnancy is! Only 9 weeks left to go now so hoping the nesting prep and cleaning will be OK.
Ohhh I know! This weekend I felt good and started jogging only to realize that every step was A LOT of pressure on my bladder. It’s been rough trying to deal with not being able to jog a 5K a week like I used to pre pregnancy.
Yeah, it was a bit frustrating to have to give that up because I was definitely looking forward to running while pregnant, but I've found other things that I can still do. Hopefully you can too!
@@FemmeHead 100% I am still doing yoga and have resorted to power walking. I can't wait for the pool to get a tad warmer. WI is getting humid so the wait should be over soon. Happy to hear you've found other outlets. Thank you for sharing your journey and best of luck!
I’ve had multiple UTIs so I started worrying about running and feeling like I had to pee. So to be honest I just wear back up clothing and allow myself to leak if necessary lol. Just knowing if I have to pee a little bit I can no problem helps me. I’ve been able to run (I’m 23 weeks) for awhile now. But nowhere near like I could before. I guess that’s gross but I just laugh about it 🤷🏻♀️ I can’t give up running just yet.
There’s leakproof underwear that is really comfortable and doesn’t look too shabby either! I love my knix and thinx, I’m using them for my period mainly, but many friends got hooked during and after pregnancy!
Love this! I’m trying my best to keep up with daily walks with my dogs. Our route is 2.5 miles though so it does wear me out. I’m lucky to get 5 in a week. And I also just started my prenatal yoga classes at a local studio. 23 weeks today, so hoping to be able to keep up with that about 3 times a week. You’ve mentioned Spinning Babies in a few videos and I am curious. Did you buy the courses? Or just real material?
My workout this pregnancy consists of chasing after/playing with my 19-month-old all day and deep cleaning my house when she goes to sleep (third trimester nesting 😅)
Honestly it's sad we put such expectations on ourselves especially if they aren't even good for us or baby. Running puts an insane amount of pressure on the womb, it is not even necessary healthy for women's womb health for that reason outside of pregnancy so imagine with a baby in it. I find it sad that in order for us to feel good about ourselves we need to do everything we did outside of pregnancy or MORE whilst pregnant!! No, I wish we could just accept this new stage of life and society wouldn't put this dumb pressure on us! We are already doing amazing things growing a real human being inside us.
I'm not sure what you mean by saying running isnt healthy for the womb (I assume you mean uterus) even when not pregnant? Yes, if you've had uterine prolapse or if you have weak pelvic floor, then running can exacerbate, but other than that no risk. Also, if you were running before pregnancy and you feel comfortable to continue during, then you should continue. My doctor told me that I was fine to continue the activities I had been doing before and just listen to my body, but not to take up something new. Honestly, women should do what they want and what feels comfortable. Running while pregnant made me feel strong and reduced stress, and I did it for me, no one else.
Belly dancing haha. Very simple hip rotation/abdominal movements. It also helps with pain management during labor/delivery. PP is just something that you go through. Looking back, I was bananas-sensitive. But in the moment, you’re just kind of in a strange, hopefully happyish fog are your body re-establishes balance. Let people take care of you so that you can take care of baby. That’s my only regret haha.

Yoga helped me a lot while I was pregnant in order to prep for labor!
Great video momma you totally got that pregnancy glow.

Laura M that’s what I’ve been using! I’ve got quite a few pair of period panties...I forget the brand but they’re actually great for this!

Spinning Babies came up in conversation so I just looked up their website which has a lot of great info and movements/stretches/exercises to do.

I am honestly amazed by pregnant women who are already mama's to little ones. You're a rockstar!
