1979 Cadillac Coupe de Ville - Why do none of my cars have brakes that work?

A recurring theme with my cars is the lack of brakes; despite that, this car moves under its own power once more. Not too bad given the mess I started with under the hood.

If i may, why does it have a high RPM....😬

It has the wrong carburetor on it; an Edelbrock with an adapter that is wrong for the car, but keeps it at a high RPM for pumping coolant to flush the radiator and circulate the oil/cleaner mix to get rid of the sludge. It's my standard "will this car run" carburetor that I can drop on and know is good.

I have the correct carb for it, just wanted to get the fuel system cleaned and prepped before I put it back on; plus, it'll tell me if I rebuilt it right.
