Hell yea. I cannot believe that the radio station that originally aired this was fined 7,000 dollars. The individuals that fined claimed that it "contained unmistakable patently offensive sexual references". ...typical of our sexist and misogynistic society. Speak the Truth.......thats all I can say, and this woman did it very well = )
I LOVE it..high time someone stood up against all the Materialistic nonsense, sex-by-the-tube hiphop agenda..It is TERRIBLE what those songs sing about: REVOLTING. Totally agree with Sarah's comments: YOU ROCK, baby
"Where could we go if we could all drop the empty pursuit of props and the ego and revolt back to our Roots- use a little Common Sense on a ?uest to make love De La Soul, no pretense."
yes yes yessss from #Straya [Australia] - must share this with #FittyFitado [McLean] *cheeky grin*..."my Jamaican brother"...#GOLD #banvegemite - wish I knew how to tag people on flippin' UA-cam XD #NYC my spiritual home - time for a return visit I think! Much
I'd never heard of this poem until Dr. Mae C Jemison said it was banned by the FCC. I just had to go look it up. Black women or women, in general, keeping their foot on people's necks I see.
I would love to see this upscaled to 4k HDR with surround sound. Intro to similar tunes, stolen from Dutch rappers: Ik zat in tram 5 mijn lul stond stijf want naast me zat een lekker wijf .. lol, some graffiti in the comments. At least it doesn't overwrite, but adds to the same story.
I think this was more suited for the "U tell em sista child!" crowd... Sara Jones is an amazing artist though...but this was just too simplistic. But Im sure black women enjoyed it. Anything that subtly attacks men is going to be eaten up by black women these days. Oh well...
Shes not attacking men. She’s calling out men who spend so much energy sexualizing women. There is a negative impact and she is right to speak about how it damages all of us- not just women but men too.
This was one of my favs... I miss Def Jam poetry.
Amen! its 2012 but baby this still some dope truth presented to my generation.. thank you sarah!

Plain as plain can be
That is how you tell a brother no!
Corney and something a brother doesn't need.
Your revolution isn't a song. It's a poem......
Thank you to SF's KPFA for making me aware of this video today!

Nope
aww man!.....I think you are just mad because can't get your revolution between her thighs.
This woman has found no love from all the men that could give no love... poor lady.
Such filth coming from her mouth. No respect from me!
I think this was more suited for the "U tell em sista child!" crowd...
