You make it sound easy, chances are WE are the primitive species, THEY will destroy us, without even blinking, and we will have NO chance at all. We won't even see them coming let alone being able to do anything more than whimper as our candle is being blown out. If there is life out there, WE are the Neanderthals, not the other way around.

Ok, here is my take on alien life. I'm not sure, but the existence of aliens could prove a cataclysmic future. The reason why we haven't seen other lifeforms on other planets is because there is something out there preventing life, called the great filter, an almost proven hypothesis in terms of something called the Fermi Paradox, which talks about why we can't find any aliens. Anyways, the great filter is a challenge or barrier of some sort in terms of advancement in science or evolution etc. That is so difficult to overcome it virtually prevents life from overcoming it. There are many stages of life, the actual creation of life consisting of unicellular organisms, then multicellular organisms, basic life, complex life, and intelligent life which includes humans, essentially a species with societies and civilizations. The great filter sits somewhere in these evolutionary stages, however we don't know where. If this filter is ahead of us, someday we will hit it and surely go extinct, but if it is behind us, then we are a special species, one of the first lifeforms to surpass this barrier. But if there are extraterrestrial creatures out there, that provides evidence that the filter isn't at that stage, which means our chances of the filter being behind us are lower, and thus a lower chance of success as a species. This filter could be the creation of life through abiogenesis, or any of the other stages, but we are hoping it is behind us. Our main theory is that it is whatever is needed for amino-acid production, but we don't really know. We have no idea how likely it is for life to form from dead matter, or animals to become intelligent creatures, or unicellular organisms to evolve to multicellular organisms, etc. But as a species, we hope there isn't life out there, and we are a special species. The first to make it through the insurmountable great filter. A chosen species. Though the chance of life may se high die to the sheer amount of spacemass in the observable universe, but the chance of us seeing other life would be too high, if the great filter didn't exist, we would probably be able to see alien spacecraft flying near earth on a daily basis, but this simply isn't the case, and I hope it isn't the case either. Anyways, I think I should specify exactly what Fermi's Paradox is. Cited from "waitbutwhy" a website that goes in-depth on scientific hypothesis says; Everyone feels something when they’re in a really good starry place on a really good starry night and they look up and see a massive universe of stars. Some people stick with the traditional, feeling struck by the epic beauty or blown away by the insane scale of the universe. Personally, I go for the old “existential meltdown followed by acting weird for the next half hour.” But everyone feels something.
Physicist Enrico Fermi felt something too-”Where is everybody?” A really starry sky seems vast-but all we’re looking at is our very local neighborhood. On the very best nights, we can see up to about 2,500 stars (roughly one hundred-millionth of the stars in our galaxy), and almost all of them are less than 1,000 light years away from us (or 1% of the diameter of the Milky Way). When confronted with the topic of stars and galaxies, a question that tantalizes most humans is, “Is there other intelligent life out there?” Let’s put some numbers to it-
As many stars as there are in our galaxy (100 - 400 billion), there are roughly an equal number of galaxies in the observable universe-so for every star in the colossal Milky Way, there’s a whole galaxy out there. All together, that comes out to the typically quoted range of between 1022 and 1024 total stars, which means that for every grain of sand on every beach on Earth, there are 10,000 stars out there.
The science world isn’t in total agreement about what percentage of those stars are “sun-like” (similar in size, temperature, and luminosity)-opinions typically range from 5% to 20%. Going with the most conservative side of that (5%), and the lower end for the number of total stars (1022), gives us 500 quintillion, or 500 billion billion sun-like stars.
There’s also a debate over what percentage of those sun-like stars might be orbited by an Earth-like planet (one with similar temperature conditions that could have liquid water and potentially support life similar to that on Earth). Some say it’s as high as 50%, but let’s go with the more conservative 22% that came out of a recent PNAS study. That suggests that there’s a potentially-habitable Earth-like planet orbiting at least 1% of the total stars in the universe-a total of 100 billion billion Earth-like planets.
So there are 100 Earth-like planets for every grain of sand in the world. Think about that next time you’re on the beach.
Moving forward, we have no choice but to get completely speculative. Let’s imagine that after billions of years in existence, 1% of Earth-like planets develop life (if that’s true, every grain of sand would represent one planet with life on it). And imagine that on 1% of those planets, the life advances to an intelligent level like it did here on Earth. That would mean there were 10 quadrillion, or 10 million billion intelligent civilizations in the observable universe.
Moving back to just our galaxy, and doing the same math on the lowest estimate for stars in the Milky Way (100 billion), we’d estimate that there are 1 billion Earth-like planets and 100,000 intelligent civilizations in our galaxy.
SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is an organization dedicated to listening for signals from other intelligent life. If we’re right that there are 100,000 or more intelligent civilizations in our galaxy, and even a fraction of them are sending out radio waves or laser beams or other modes of attempting to contact others, shouldn’t SETI’s satellite dish array pick up all kinds of signals?
But it hasn’t. Not one. Ever.
      Where is everybody?
It gets stranger. Our sun is relatively young in the lifespan of the universe. There are far older stars with far older Earth-like planets, which should in theory mean civilizations far more advanced than our own. As an example, let’s compare our 4.54-billion-year-old Earth to a hypothetical 8-billion-year-old Planet X. The technology and knowledge of a civilization only 1,000 years ahead of us could be as shocking to us as our world would be to a medieval person. A civilization 1 million years ahead of us might be as incomprehensible to us as human culture is to chimpanzees. And Planet X is 3.4 billion years ahead of us…
There’s something called The Kardashev's Scale which helps us group intelligent civilizations into three broad categories by the amount of energy they use:
A Type I Civilization has the ability to use all of the energy on their planet. We’re not quite a Type I Civilization, but we’re close (Carl Sagan created a formula for this scale which puts us at a Type 0.7 Civilization).
A Type II Civilization can harness all of the energy of their host star. Our feeble Type I brains can hardly imagine how someone would do this, but we’ve tried our best, imagining things like a Dyson Sphere. Continuing to speculate, if 1% of intelligent life survives long enough to become a potentially galaxy-colonizing Type III Civilization, our calculations above suggest that there should be at least 1,000 Type III Civilizations in our galaxy alone-and given the power of such a civilization, their presence would likely be pretty noticeable. And yet, we see nothing, hear nothing, and we’re visited by no one. So where is everybody? Welcome to the Fermi Paradox.
We have no answer to the Fermi Paradox-the best we can do is “possible explanations.” And if you ask ten different scientists what their hunch is about the correct one, you’ll get ten different answers. You know when you hear about humans of the past debating whether the Earth was round or if the sun revolved around the Earth or thinking that lightning happened because of Zeus, and they seem so primitive and in the dark? That’s about where we are with this topic.
In taking a look at some of the most-discussed possible explanations for the Fermi Paradox, let’s divide them into two broad categories-those explanations which assume that there’s no sign of Type II and Type III Civilizations because there are none of them out there, and those which assume they’re out there and we’re not seeing or hearing anything for other reasons.
Explanation Group 1: There are no signs of higher (Type II and III) civilizations because there are no higher civilizations in existence.
Those who subscribe to Group 1 explanations point to something called the non-exclusivity problem, which rebuffs any theory that says, “There are higher civilizations, but none of them have made any kind of contact with us because they all _____.” Group 1 people look at the math, which says there should be so many thousands (or millions) of higher civilizations, that at least one of them would be an exception to the rule. Even if a theory held for 99.99% of higher civilizations, the other .01% would behave differently and we’d become aware of their existence.
Therefore, say Group 1 explanations, it must be that there are no super-advanced civilizations. And since the math suggests that there are thousands of them just in our own galaxy, something else must be going on.
This something else is called The Great Filter.
The other group of people who think that there are civilizations out there and the great filter theory is wrong have good points as well, if you want to see the full article describing the Fermi paradox, I would suggest this one: waitbutwhy.com/2014/05/fermi-paradox.html

    • @Peterwhitlock
      @Peterwhitlock 3 роки тому

forget it...we not be able to find life and if we did it not be TECH using civilizations...that odd is near zero for the galaxy complete and most galaxies round us too...use of tech life is so low we ourselves came to be via trillions of trillions to 1 odds. It teaches us life is less rare than tech life where odds are we find many many many planets with simple life and never find another civilization.
even if we found life we NEVER can reach it. Even the most close is a very long trip and the next is even more distant and more far gets even more...so time and distance makes it so only SLEEPING A.I. can carry life and take millions of years to reach a star to seed life and leave...we need not humans at one point other than cargo. life forms are each a tool for a job to make garden worlds.
Even A.I. will tell you Humans are NOT going to drive or control such things...cargo is cargo and is used to need not wants.

Even to Kepler these planets appear as dots so the 'artist impressions' are quite entertaining. Anyway a planet doesn't need to be anything like Earth to contain life. The concept of Chemosynthetic life is very interesting.... biological life that would have DNA but not necessarily water based.

imagine what it would be like for someone from another world to discover earth, and the life that exists on earth, their mind would just go into overdrive, trying to understand what that meant ,especially if they have travelled hundreds if not thousands of light years to get there.unfathomable .

    • @Peterwhitlock
      @Peterwhitlock 3 роки тому

ya like fantasies of travel before need to do it...aliens are a joke on Humanity to fall for...BEINGS DO NOT TRAVEL...programs do and making life is a program so any life wanted can be built...so when people say aliens you can know 100% it is bull because alien have no use for other lifeforms and too busy making own at home or locally...no one ever will travel lightyears on end to see IF life will be there in after we get there....people do not get distance and impossible to go speeds....but think them possible so aliens here with Zero evidence and plenty of claims proven all wrong false and cheats specially the last military ones of bugs as UFo crap.

Enjoyed your documentary very much. It helped sink my reality into my head space, that I have had many of these questions come up over the years. And have a genuine curiosity for all your topics here!
Inventors of the future may your research find these answers. Remember science has many levels and topics. Whatever is deemed a new discovery is what being a scientist in this field is all about. Forgetting about funding or grants to produce your theories and work, I challenge you to find a way to bring your evolutionary thoughts forward. You may get public funding if it’s a hit. Never forget the roots of science ‘ The unfathomable discoveries, the excitement of hands on, the amazing search for answers, truth and invention. This accompanied with consistent sharing, funding and prioritised research directed to the public will bring about a better world. Be engrossed in science, discovery, public betterment and don’t let corporations use scare tactics to keep it for themselves.
    Funding, funding...bloody funding!
I get it, but be the change you really want to be, stand up, get others behind this Tyranny against all humanity across the planet. Now is the time for change. We have been given until 2024! Then judgment begins.

Why are we alone in the Universe(If it is finite, and why we won`t find life from observable Universe if it is not.) I`ll quote the site @t To some estimate* there is a 1 to 10^164 probability to form a single working protein by change. Link to UA-cam video explaining this @. Yet there`s more to life being born than a single protein popping up somewhere. If we look at the size and complexity of our universe it is obvious that us being here takes somewhat more effort than the 10^164 change. Why we are here is due to anthropic principle that emerges us from the infinite possibilities of perfect symmetry (or something). Now if you are better at calculus than I am you can start crunching the probability of protein forming somewhere else in the Universe at quantities able to form life.
Our history that is like an upside down house of cards that stands firmly reaching the sky, does not support any other planet forming life if that life is not crucial element to our own existance. It can be possible that life itself is a construct of something and an export product, but why would this be so? Is the earth not quite ideal petri dish for LARGE amounts of random experiments that would produce this wonder?
You need to understand that our history is not random. It is there to produce you! I will not even go to the history of the world that with all it`s components lead to your granny and grandpa to do it in the exact moment for your parents to be born and survive to produce you etc. If we simplify the odds by some billions times billions times billions. etc. and think there is a 50/50 change for a protein to form by change we can have a litle game. Let`s throw the coin for protein to form on earth and throw the coin for the protein to form somewhere else. Now let`s do that enough times to form DNA, cells, etc. Let`s continue throwing so that we`ll get through the hazards that could destroy that fragile thing called life. Let`s continue throwing the coin enough times to maintain enough balance in nature for life not to destroy itself by for example something comparable to a virus to kill everything else and die of starvation. You do know if we would lose all our spiders today the insects would take over the world and likely would destroy themselves as well by the inbalance. Now you might say there is some kind of balance in the nature that prevents that, and life is by nature balanced. Go look in the mirror and think again, or Google Anthropocene. Well it could be that by probabilty of close to zero we get life born and substain in somewhere else and then some stupid asteroid comes and ruins it all, the end. We are still here and we might be here, like forever.

The thing is we will probably never know. The distances are far too great and the possibility that we will make any contact is remote. Logic tells us that there must be planets with similar conditions to ours which all being well will have evolved life forms, some of which will undoubtedly be quite advanced and sentient like us. But I repeat, we will probably never know for certain.
