- Unfortunately, in my opinion, the TTK weapon balance changes DICE has made in Update 5.2, they make Battlefield 5 worse. We're now in the same situation we were last Holiday season where the core community is unhappy with the state of the game.

Despite DICE making it clear in their previous communication posts that changing the TTK was not the main goal, it's become extremely obvious that the TTK has changed. It's quite a bit longer than what it was before & some of the changes really confuse me. I'm not sure this was a good change for DICE to make at this stage of the game's life.
I just don’t feel like playing the game anymore. If the gunplay feels spongy it just makes me want to play something else. I really hope they revert this so I can play the game again.
This decision by DICE lead me to buying COD Modern Warfare.
How much of areodome has changed? Plus does wake island coming next week?
I’m not sure which conclusion I can draw from this situation is worse.. dice either doesn’t actually listen to what the battlefield community wants or enjoys. Or conversely they understand and simply don’t care.

Everyone saw this coming.
The original design direction is completely left by the wayside, guns don't feel lethal or satisfying anymore. I hope they roll this back in its entirety and make some meaningful changes.
I still can't switch assignments mid-game, they promised us that after release...
They must really not think much of the players that keep this franchise alive. Those of us that stuck through this nonsense for a solid year. Just when they FINALLY were getting a positive response with the pacific update, to complete and total backlash with the very next patch.
V12Style argument here isn’t for the TTK in general, it’s that DICE has changed the TTK three times already. Name another game where that happens. No FPS game does this. COD never did it, BF1,4,3,2 all didn’t do this. Weapon balances are fine but shouldn’t change the overall TTK for the whole game.

As a skilled Player i can say that its just rewarding as before and in my opinion IT also makes Sense that an smg cant keep up AT long Ranges. Same for the assault rifles and every Thing else. I absolutely LOATHE these changes. Just when I really started to enjoy this game after the pacific update, they’ve destroyed the experience.
Yeah i played the game for an hour this morning and quite because I got fed up with my guns not doing enough damage at range. Well time to move on to new games until Dice reverts these changes.

It’s so frustrating seeing them go through with the change after overwhelming outcry to leave the TTK as is. They straight up ignored the community. Are they too proud to admit that their idea is not what the community wants? The way I see it DICE doesn’t have much to be proud of as of late other than the Pacific which was an oasis in a year long trek through the desert. BFV doesn’t deserve a comeback if the devs are going to treat their core players like this.

It’s really bad on console. I saw someone through some boxes with passive spotting and I just thought that wouldn’t be a thing. I played 3 games of conquest trying a lot of the guns and they don’t even feel like guns anymore. I also thought they where increasing some the ammo in magazines for certain weapons but I haven’t seen anything like that. Less recoil yes but once again I want my gun to feel powerful and I like the skill it took to use certain weapons. Definitely safe to say I’m not enjoying the ttk changes at all.

True, though I don't think they said you'll get more ammo in magazines but you do get more ammo in your inventory thing. I could be wrong there though.

Should I even care anymore? I've loyally stayed with this game throughout it's lifecycle and now they basically ruined the one defining thing that still kept me playing this game. Now I feel like I should just move on to other things, because if Dice doesn't care and commit, why should I?

Extreme example of overreacting I hope this doesn't actually make you depressed. Also the changes are not that dramatic you just can't use the same weapons in the same scenarios.
I had to do 3 headshots at medium range to kill a guy with a SAR, the turner SMLE. Now it's 1 extra bullet + reduced RPM. I've had 41.000 kills with this gun and though it was hard at start to use it CQC i finally used it. Now i can't use it CQC or at long range anymore to counter snipe
Now it feels like i can get killed by the sniper who misses 3 shots in a row just to land 2 body shots, or the SMG dude at CQC who's hip firing an entire magazin before he kills me. All the time i've devoted and the skills level i've achieved feels pointless now. It's not whether you have good positioning, able to handle recoil etc. Now it's utterly defined by the gun, who's gonna win, and not by the player.
nevermind getting multiple kills with any gun with a single mag. No more flanking or anything in the like.
It's medium range, not long or short. That's why you're getting out gunned.

This is the third. THIRD!!! time DICE has increased the TTK and had this exact same response. First time was between the first and second alpha test, then the 2nd time was last Christmas and here we are again. Some of the changes just don't make sense. DICE wanted to make people choose a variety of weapons yet give the most used assault weapon (STG) less recoil, yet nerf the Sturmgewehr 1-5 in cqc and ranged combat. Why? You have literally made sure everyone sticks with the STG lol

I am part of the camp of people who never liked the STG44 always perfered the 1-5 because of CQB and it also allowed ranged if you mastered it. Now it's just useless and pointless to use anything other then the STG44.
@@m4gg0t18 exact same as you fella. The 1-5 had more vertical recoil but it wasnt a problem for me, I loved it and if you spent time with it you could use it at range also. I guess that is what DICE wanted to stop skilled players from being able to do as the recoil wasnt stopping us

I like the FG42, but even before the patch... it still sat in this weird limbo where it's effective range was eclipsed by the more powerful SMGs with faster reload, higher ROF, less recoil, nearly equivalent damage... and it's range was hardly longer. I would lose gun fights at medium range to type 100s so often (as well as close range). Now with this patch, I can only imagine how wonky this poor gun feels. I am very sad.
If these changes remain, this is the final nail in the coffin for the battlefield franchise.
The community cries about everything, I doubt it.

I played 3 games today and I'm seriously doubting dice's integrity after this patch. I am a big time bf fan and have played all the games since 1942. I've been though issues think and thin but I hate to say patch 5.2 might just be the nail in the coffin for me. It's sad to say but I will not play wake island with the current state of bfv

This patch essentially makes Support a worthless class to choose. All the weapons are completely worthless at pretty much all ranges and will be beaten by every other class. The increased ammo capacity also reduces the need for ammo to be given out by support players. Why play support?
As someone with 100+ kills with all guns in the class (1000 plus for all MMGs actually, sorry) It feels so sad and so bad. It really feels like only the Drilling and, in bigger maps, the Madsen aren't subpar in every aspect

I think at this point they need to have a “Public Test Server” like Overwatch has. Give people the chance to test changes before they are fully implemented.

They already have a public test server it's called Multiplayer.
@@LookHereMars Multiplayer isn't a public test server since it affects actual gameplay that affect the player's profile. A public test server allow players to test out changes w/o affecting their profiles. There's a reason the CTE was welcomed by most players in previous BF.

The update was obviously going to be terrible, no testing needed. The community warned them and this has happened before, but they don’t listen because they don’t care about the community enough.
It’s for the Christmas kiddies. Dice/EA’s mentality is, if it takes more shots to kill then that means you’ll be alive longer and that’s fun. But, the reality is you won’t get many kills either which is where the fun factor is. Then shortly after New Years there will be a patch reversing this one. And they will lie and say it’s cause they listened to the fans. Same thing they did with BF1.

Speaking as a new player, this patch makes the game feel far worse, the gun fights feel drawn out with players often diving behind cover before, healing up and then popping back out whereas pre patch gunplay was swift and lethal.

just cant understand dice logic, you have waaay too overpowered lmgs in the game, that shoot laserbeams no matter if 0-5m 15-50m or 150-250m and kill people in an instant, and yet you decide to do changes that dont solve that problem but in some way enhance it and produce even more problems. like which genius thought of this utterly trash idea?

I like to think of DICE as Helen Keller playing darts where as the board is battlefield 5 and the darts are ideas and the person telling her where to aim is the community. Pretty accurate analogy if you ask me.

This is why the whole "we are making more weapons attractive" arguement was BS! Compared to other BF games, I used more weapons than I ever had before! Every gun was viable! Now, not so much.

Funny thing is, in other BF games weapons used similar damage models with varying RoF (take bf4 AK-12 and AEK 650 vs 900 RPM with exact same dmg model (and i prefered the AK-12))

Honestly loved how the gun play felt. Battlefield has always been more “realistic” than games like COD therefore the engagement distances have been further than games like COD. I personally love this it’s not like arma where your engaging at 300 plus meters but not like cod where it’s 10m it was a good in between and I feel most of the core BF players feel similarly. Every time they try and make BF more like COD it ends up blowing up in there face. Dice needs to listen to it’s consumers and stop trying to be something it’s not

I've been a Recon player since day one. Never used any other classes and stuck to picking people off at range. UNTIL the M1 Garand was released. The gun made me want to play Assault more often than not. Fast-killing, heavy-hitting monster of a rifle, and I loved it.
Now, with 5.2, the Garand's a fucking shell of its former self. Increase on the firecap IN CONJUNCTION with the TTK rebalance and its meager eight-round clip. I really hate this update, and I'm disappointed that I found a weapon that made me love a new class, only for it to be nerfed to shit. DICE, you need to do something about these changes.

I refunded the game. Going to buy it again in post Christmas sales if they revert to a sensible TTK.

Unbelievable how this studio is mentally challenged...The Franchise needs DICE L.A. back. At least they created the test server and listened to the community and made BF4 the best it could be, meanwhile the legacy they built is being destroyed as we speak.
They just tried to make it easier for new players and put guns into their “specific classes” like short range, mid and long. But know you really can’t use 1 gun universally IF your good enough to use it. I’m a medic main and always use the Tommy and have mastered it. I can pop ppl off at ranges that I rlly shouldn’t be able to. I feel like this will screw up my play style along with other competitive players out there

I don’t mind long TTK’s, if you ever played an arena shooter like Halo or Overwatch the point is to aim for the head to minimize TTK. It raises the skill ceiling. That said, it feels out of place in Battlefield because there are so many random events happening in one match. A skilled player (like Ravic/Stodeh/Shroud) will do well no matter what.
However the biggest issue are that the assignments don’t match the TTK changes. That and for some reason I still have to select assignments in the menu.
The good thing is that it incentivizes movement. If anything, this patch hurts campers and players wanting hardcore servers.

I’m so over this game at this point and I’m moving on. Last month we saw the best of what this game has to offer, unfortunately it’s all downhill from now on.

Maybe I'm in a minority, but I was already using the different type of guns as they should be used (SMG up-close, MMG at longer distance, etc.), so I haven't felt the changes in TTK as much as probably at lot of players have. I'm kinda glad I'm no longer gonna get sniped by a STEN from a hundred miles away.
I totally get why people are upset however, so not looking to argue there. It's an unnecessary update to an already accepted weapon balance, I don't see why they so desperately needed to fix what's not broken rather than put their energy and hours to better use.
WE knew that from the beginning, but dice never seems to listen. If they don't start acting accordingly I am not sure this game will have a player base until the next BF releases.
This is utter garbage. I'm playing since BF1942 and this is the first time I might leave. This situation is worse than BF Hardline.
I played it for couple of hours and I don't enjoy the gameplay anymore. Therefore I have decided to quit playing the game. If this TTK won't change then I guess this was it for me.

This is the last straw for me. I loved operation underground and the Pacific but this has been my main game since it launched. Over a year getting to know each gun, getting to know its strengths and weaknesses, just thrown out the window because dice want to attract new players. Pathetic
Man I don't like this update, just after playing on one match. And dice messed up on this one.
To think the Pacific was a turn for the better too...DICE once again wastes resources on needless stuff

I love this game and all I want is for it to succeed, I thought they were going down the right path after the Pacific , but the new spotting and gunplay has made me stop playing until this is fixed

DOCE can't just change the core gameplay against the communities will and then expect people to "adapt".
Because as it is now, people will simply "not play". Because DICE ruined the gameplay people enjoyed for over a year.

I played BFV for 3 months post launch, then set it aside until the pacific update came out. I found that the game had changed a lot and I was actually having fun, but with these changes everything that made the gun play great is gone...
Just another prime example that EA and its subsidiaries are idiots when it comes to listening to players and making proper patch updates.
Thanks for punishing aggressively skilled players and flanks by making smg’s underpowered again. Guess dice wants you to play the game super slow and campy. How boring. They did so well with operation underground and the pacific but now I am going to have to go to a whole new shooter entirely. How are you gonna try and reprogram players with the muscle memory of over 500hrs played? This feels terrible.

There's was nothing wrong the old gunplay, I thought it was the best part of bfv even since launch... I think this was a step in the wrong direction, nobody was complaining about the gunplay so why was this green-lighted by dice?
it would fix the game EA said... It would make it more fun they said... it would be more balanced they said...

tanking experience is much better as well as spotting mechanic BUT almost all the smgs and lmgs are pretty much garbage now ( haven't touched assault guns yet ) ... what were they thinking ?! ... we have been in this situation before couple of times already and we won every single time !!! do not loose hope people !!!

10:30 - Well the reason (atleast for me) that the TTK overshadows any other thing in the new update is quite simple. It doesn't matter what content you release if the game is not fun & the gun mechanics are just plain stupid.
Oh also why do we have guns when the ''effective'' range of them is so small that we might as well use swords like in the medieval ages :/
I was obsessed, playing this game every day for the past month and a half, now I don’t want to anymore just because of this.
I love how they tried so hard to discourage MMG spam, but at this point it's looking like the only viable option.

I really wanted this game to develop a more stable competitive scene, these updates clearly show that will never happen. Gutted.
Ive played 5 games and I just cant bring myself to use my favorite guns.Great work DICE, the players told you don't change the guns they're great. And you changed it anyway to make some guns more "attractive" and you failed. I'm not even going to waste my time with Wake Island until a change back to the old ttk happens. You've lost me and most of your core players.
