    we all know mk1 will get better over time but will it be too late to bring back the hype for the game? idk the answer but i can't wait to see how the game changes in 2024

      i just wish we had constant updates with how the games goin i get that theres not enough content but games have also ben getting rushed and ive just learned to be patient with games like this but it was also like why arent people finding crazy stuff with all the characters and everyone is just sticking to the same kameo for the most part idk i just play it and have fun everyone else should to no matter what press and people say

      Lack of content, rewards are lackluster for the amount of grind you have to do, and the gameplay got boring to me compared to fighting games released by competitors. WB really fumbled with invasions as nothing but a grind simulator to get you to waste more time so it looks good on their statistics. And of course microtransactions

      This is just as a viewer, compared to MK11 mostly:
      - Game looks too busy graphically, too many bright colors and details at the same time on the screen, needs more structure, less noise. I don t mind the more lively colors, but there s way too much at once.
      - The environments are super beautiful, but by being so, some of those take over too much, stealing focus from the characters.
      - The characters look better on MK11, a bit more realistic, cleaner. And it s a pity, because I feel MK1 has more variance in design, but a lot of choices are too much or simply unattractive and don t make any sense.
      - MK1 looks more CGI, less grounded. Animations are more glitchy than in MK11. Also in MK11 the characters moved more naturally in the environment, or so they seemed.
      - Characters look more cartoony than in MK11, but I am one to have enjoyed the aesthetic brutality of the original first game. The 3d era was pure crap aesthetically, i don t care what anyone says.
      - Action looks more brutal on MK11 and MKX than in MK1. In MK1 everything looks just too pretty.
      - MK1 started very buggy and still has quite a few graphical issues, does not seem polished enough.
      - Watching game-play: too much overpower, takes away from the tactics aspect, in my view. Too much crazy shit happening at once for far too long. You need a good base level to return to, after all the excitement is gone from an insane combo or tactic play, and I feel MK1 is missing that. If everything is super crazy and exciting all the time, you ll get saturated fast, get desensitized and then you get bored while your expectations remain high.
      - I personally lost the interest to watch some of the roster as their lore and design is a lot less appealing than in older iterations.

    I think the reason for the interest in MK1 going down is like you said the game is pretty incomplete. No Krypt, no Konquest or adventure mode except the Invasion mode which is extremely repetitive and tedious. Like there is very little to do except ladders and invasion or play online

    Mk11 felt like a full package, tons of customization, tons of special moves, I feel as if there were more special moves to choose from on ONE character than there are kameos. The intros and outros were unique and felt more cinematic, able to grind for what you want when you want in towers, unique match interactions such as mercy and friendship, stage interactions and brutality’s, the explorable Krypt, multiple skins, interesting characters, so much more to offer than MK1 one. These micro transaction holiday fatalities are the most embarrassing thing from NRS to date! Something you could’ve turned into an event or added to invasions for unique gameplay and incentive, nah just throw it on the store. Mk1 is soulless, maybe it’ll be a future dlc where it turns quan chi was trolling us and the mk timeline returns back to its roots, until then, the endless waves of online Johnny cages isn’t worth it.

      Yeah too bad the gameplay was ass. Total package but limited moves can’t use them all, auto recovering meter, break aways over breakers, uneven/unfair Kushingblows, sure everyone had uppercut blow, but some were so hard n then others so easy like really? Everyone uses fujin. The only good thing that came from mk11 that I hated in MKX and came to mk 1, was mk11 fatal blow style of having to use it only at 30% health and only once if it hits. In MKX it was x ray galore for everyone in the meter, I’d forget about it then my opponent used it outta no where. But other than that mk11 was awful gameplay was and limiting.

      @@SuperBabyMario0CI agree 1000% MK11 was the only MK I dropped a few months into playing as I just felt the gameplay was garbage, absolutely hated the krushing blows and the fighters seemed to move like turtles. MK1 may not be the best MK but it’s definitely better than the turd that is MK11

      Also more voice lines, but that is also considered customization i guess... More intro's, outro's i get they wanted to make less loading and a faster fight experience by cutting most of that stuff. Funny thing is, even after months it's still loading like crazy and stuck on the character select and random DC's midgame. Lets not speak on how long the desync bug lasted after release. Last pre order i made was this game...

    MKX is the King. Great combos with mix ups, different variations, and the run feature for rush down. Nothing could compare in my opinion.

    Improvements for MK1 that would improve the community interest:
    - New game modes (tag team, No kameos, casual random modes, test your might, etc.).
    - invasions “remade” (be able to play it in the third person, and free to move around like MKD).
    - More outros.
    - New Stages (and bring back the classic ones).
    - Stage fatalities and Stage Interactions.
    - Fighting Pass? (A battle pass like Fortnite and other games, but free because you're already spending for $70+ game).
    - Better access to all the skins and stuff (If you play a lot you will be able to, purchase skins, gears, or fatalities with a coin of the game but if you want it immediately, pay for it).
    - Better communication with the MK Community.

    I feel like the issue with this game that I had is similar to the issue I had with MK11. Matches are just so so repetitive. Every character plays the exact same way by everyone. There’s no individual twist that people can spin on how they play certain characters due to limited move sets, combos, etc. Watching videos of MKX even if two people are playing the same character the way they might play can be completely different whereas now it’s the same combos, same moves and just overall lack of versatility. Love your vids Super ❤

      Yea that's one thing I've gotten bored with already with MK1, each character has a decently varied moveset by like one combo is actually worth doing in a fight.
      Johnny's will always do a combo involving their backflip launcher (forgot the input cause haven't played since season 1 lmao) in every combo because it's the only viable move that Netherrealm put into the game for instance.

      100000% agree watching MKX tournaments feel soo good wo watch. MK1 and MK11 get to a point where you can literally predict the exact combo everyone is trying to hit EVERY SINGLE TIME. Go watch any pro MK11 scorpion or Joker gameplay I swear to god you can pretty much see the same combo 10 times per round.

    I actually feel like kameos and assists are a big part of the problem. When Mk1 was announced I think a lot of people (myself included) were hoping it would go back to basics of 1 on 1 fighting, bring back a lot of fan favorite stages, stage fatalities and a compelling story with all the original characters. Invasion is so underwhelming and at the end of the day, the fans are underwhelmed by the product. This just isn't what most fans wanted.

      I honestly disagree, kameos is probably one of the best things that happened to Mk battle system then them adding air combos was the cherry on top. The battle system in this game is top notch and probably the only reason people still play this game. Other then that there is really nothing to get people hooked customization isn’t good at all and there isn’t that much content

    It's a mix of things for me. 1. Kameos aren't my favorite thing in the world, and you can tell that some characters are toned down quite a bit because they are meant to be paired with a kameo. 2. They did another reboot but went right back to the timeline shenanigans and completely changed some of the core characters of the series. My hype dropped so fast when I saw Kronika and saw that they were making Scorpion just a different character entirely. 3. Invasions is like they took the worst parts of krypt and towers of time and shoved it into one mode, and then on top of that they cut the amount of unlockables in half and took away target farming. I'm amazed they released invasions like they did honestly.
    So yeah I think all of that combined just derailed all of the hype and excitement I had. The gameplay did end up being decent which means I can hop on and do a few KL sets per day, but I have no interest in any other part of the game at this point. The story is meh, new character designs are bland, and I'd rather just play MKX or MK11 at this point.

      Character design is a weird take. They're not "bland", they're far better than the garbage we got the last 3 games. I'm glad to see Scorpion and Sub-Zero don't look like a 10 year old's edgy creation. The bad designs got out of hand starting in 9 and just kept getting worse.

A tournament that brought the reamls fearless warriors to fight to the death. This s* looks like Disney artwork. It looks CORNY. Made by CORNY people who would get their neck snapped in an altercation in real life. "Oh but look at the skull on my shoulder pads" yeah pathetic. Look how these characters are way too muscular, unrealistically so yet no definition to their bodies, no scars no veins, no texture, their faces are cleanly rendered even though some of them are scavengers. Mk art direction is pitiful to be honest. When you do a fatality on them, they're Ken dolls. Their pathetic in looks, voice acting, their role in the universe (how they were written) Mortal kombat is just pathetic let's be honest.

    Just my personal opinion…
    MKX was my all time favorite with the character variations. The speed of the game I enjoyed. The ability to run towards your opponent like a warrior in battle was amazing.
    Mk11 was balanced but a bit slow, still great.
    MK1 reminds me of MKX but instead of character variations there are Kameos. I don’t like the Kameos, it feels like a Marvel vs Capcom or a Tekken Tag. I’d prefer individual character variations without the Kameo.

      Nah your opinion is a fact. Mkx is the best mortal kombat no doubt. The movement and gameplay was the best we’ve ever seen. It’s so annoying to keep playing a video game that feels the same. Mk11 and mk1 gameplay is damn near the same🤦🏽‍♂️, I might as well play injustice.

    There was just so much more to obtain and do in mk11. The cosmetics were enough for me to keep grinding as well as the towers, we don’t quite have that in mk1

    MK1 is definitely a victim of rushed development when you consider how low the content has been compared to MKX and such. The game's popularity is nuked compared to what it was in the initial month or so, and it makes sense after seeing how much of a slog it is to wait for just ONE character and a new season for an already barebones Invasion mode. The game has clearly so much potential that isn't being utilized, and is really being held back by the awful monetization and a lack of a consistent release schedule

      I think the lack of Krossplay and engaging single player content really hurt this game. I didn’t love the towers of time, but I really enjoyed customizing my characters and collecting new skins. Now all we get are new colors for the same skin. It’s not worth the grind.

    I think the problem for me(even though I still love the game just bc it’s a MK game) is that at launch it seemed a tad unfinished and the fact that some kameos seem to buff the characters way too much(Johnny/Lao for example). This could totally be a skill issue for me but in terms of spectating it, it’s not fun to watch the same characters and kameo almost every match. The competitive scene seems like it’s just who can frame trap better instead of who can make the better reads or something like that.

      I agree. I used to watch Super play Mortal Kombat 11 and X all the time, but this game is just not that interesting to watch. You see too many of the same main character/kameo doing the exact same Combo every time. The characters are not fairly balanced which is why this is happening. Some main fighter/ kameo combinations are cleary better than others. While all Mortal Kombat games have had balancing issues, this game here might have the worse yet.

      bullshit. go and find R1ps Arena and stop saying what community like based on your own bad experience and cherry picking examples, like everyone who moaned that only top tiers are viable to play, constantly ignoring a fact that first huge major took Rain. Last season of R1ps which is probably largest online tourney for entire community - Mileena player. In The Kolloseum? How many times HourGlassofRain terrorize "top" tiers with his Mili? I can understand skill issue in terms that you maybe can't learn to play better. But skill issue to SEE?

    Not sure if anyone else feels like this but for me, the problem is movement. MkX was so fun to me because we had a sprint button. Ever since they took that away it’s never felt as fun to me

      I didn't play the game, but been watching a lot of it and it feels even worse than mk1. I think that what turns me off isn't just movement but recovery. most normals and strings feels sluggish because they take too long to recover. what made mkx so fluid was how insanely fast moves recovered. I know they tried to slow the game down, I also like slow and methodical gameplay. the problem is that mk just doesn't have the depth to be slow and methodical. I think that if they made movement and recovery faster the game would feel WAY better

    I think the elephant in the room is something that we’ve accepted & has proven to be fun at times but at the end of the day we’ve never asked for KAMEOS. I’m certain there’s a big chunk of fans that prefer the classic one on one style of combat, if not 2 man tag. The kameos are an easy way to make a lot of the cast cheap & that might not be enjoyable for some. I main Ashrah & Sereena so I’m good with my 40% combos but if you’re an OG MK fan I could understand the kameos being a turn off. Especially if you get online & you keep running into Kung Lao or Cyrax Pre Patch 😰.. & where’s the online practice mode!?!? Why even have it on the screen???
    Bring back MK Chess that shit was great.

      Yea I think over time we will start to see more and more people return to their original skepticism about kameos just hurting the gameplay more than helping it. Makes main roster characters feel way less important unless they are really good like Johnny or Kenshi. Becomes a spam fest and a cheap way to leave weaker characters the way they are because kameos can compensate. At the end of the day the 1v1 is what majority of people would find more satisfying.

      Reptile suuuuuucks, his invisibility, his acid spit, he has TWO of the SAME combo strings with different inputs and the only change is one starts with a punch and the other a kick... it's abysmal.
      It's like yay reptile is back and they made him cool and gave him a crocodile roll....aaaaaannnnd that's it.......bland as unseasoned chicken

      Yeah the KAEMOS is the feature that took me by surprise when they announced the game. As SOON as I saw it, I HATED it and it turned me off RIGHT AWAY (I still ended up buying the game for XBX and PC LOL) but the KAMEO system just doesn't fit Mortal Kombat IMO. Leave that to the VS CAPCOM games or something. That's just my .2 cents on this game.

    For me it is simple enough. The game was lacking content from the start. Modes were missing and some others that were added were not my cup of tea like the Invasion mode. I prefer the Krypt 100% of the time. The game itself on its core is good but sometimes it feels clunky compared to MK11 where you could hate the gameplay but it was more polished than MK1. Customisation is completely ruined for me in MK1. Compared to MK11, the intros, outros, costumes themselves. Mk1 just lacking all those or better, it is messier. Aside from the gameplay which i like this game is all over the place. Also don't get me started about the micro transactions.

      Idk how people like the krypt it's just walking around opening chests and occasionally walking through a hallway with swinging axes. I completed MK11 krypt and I've completed every invasions so far and I'm so glad the krypt is gone. If they brought the krypt back into microtransaction land of MK1 I would gladly just pay for the rewards or just not play it at all where as on the other hand I actually enjoy completing invasions I try new characters and kameos and actually get to play the game, much better imo.

    I think the price for extra content is just ridiculously priced and it feels like WB is trying to take as much money from players as possible.       Yeah people don’t realize how crazy the price for the skins and other shit are, I spent $110 for the game and don’t get me wrong it’s good but imagine wanting to buy skins and custom voice announcers you’ll end up spending over $200 in total if you always get cosmetics, like honestly if the game was free than they could charge however much they want for the skins and other things. LIKE fortnite for example yk free game so you can really charge wtv for in game content

      Tbh when it comes to the kombat pack I can semi let that slide cause it does take a lot to program the move sets and make the characters feel like you’re actually them, and some are pop culture characters that have to be properly licensed and stuff

    I always loved MK11. It just feels more like an actual video game and you have so many more options past the customization, combos, play styles etc. There seems to be only one combo used per character for MK1

    one thing only a few acknowledge is: the vibe around fighting games is just different. streamers, social media, basically internet dictates what is liked by people and let me tell you it is not MK. FGC looks down on NRS games, anime games have gotten bigger and bigger, and MK somehow feels like a thing of the past, some nostalgia thing. I mean rock music died, too, times are achanging, young people play anime fighters and listen to K-pop. when MKX came out I was in my 20s, as a kid having played UMK3 and MK4. X came with this dark atmosphere, super cool evil looking ninjas, we jumped on it. All the MK11 hype was owed to the experience we had with MKX. MK11 destroyed our hopes with stupid gameplay, grindy mechanics. MK as we know it died imo when MK11 came out. The disappointment in the air was palpable.
    Still, the immense graphic improvement kept the game a bit longer relevant, and the hopes of people still chasing that MKX dream. Now with MK1, NRS needed to reinvent MK to stay relevant. in style, gameplay, everything. Instead we get a single player mode that is stuck in the past, as grindy as before if not more, and the game leans into its nostalgia like nothing before, with even kameos from old MK games and their fatalities. It's a throwback game made for old men like me. Who the fuck cares about a game like this? Especially since now the graphic improvements are also not that huge anymore.
    Don't get me wrong, it is the most polished gameplay of any MK. Game is fun. They iterated and iterated on their gameplay model, us being the testers, and found the perfect version. I cannot complain about anything in this game gameplaywise, when I had ten things I was complaining about in MK 11. But on the other hand nothing feels really groundbreaking either.
    SF6 feels like a love letter to the fans. The content in that game, the fun around the fighting, the design is huge. MK 1 feels barebones, except for all the cosmetics you can unlock. They tell us: Just grind it. Don't enjoy, don't meet your friends in this game and joke around in a hub, just fucking grind it. We even took krypt away so it doesn't distract from it. There is nothing here that feels like it was made for the joy of the players.
    We are at a time in video game history where companies that establish a good rapport with their fans are starting to win. People want respect, communication, care from the developers. At least people who want to belong to a community. Those are the ones that watch youtube videos anyway. My two cents.

    The worst thing about mk1 is the customization. They don’t even give you different colors, they just give you a different shader with a slight variation so I have over 30 different outfits but they all look the same

    For me personally every time I look at MK1 it makes me sad! Honestly almost to the brink of tears. I grew up playing and loving MK to now see that WB is so greedy and money hungry that to me they are ruining this game. MK used to have so much going for it from game modes to cosmetics. It's sad to see this game so bare bones and them charge us $70 and more for things that should have already been in there

    For me personally, it's 2 things that have me playing, and watching sf6 over mk1.
    1. NRS turned mk into an assist game, something that it's never been. Assists, combined with block dashing turns every character into the same character.
    2. Lack of defensive counter play. Only options you have when being attacked are block or breaker. ( full bar and kameo required)

    6:26 is what we have been discussing in another active MK1 video right now! MK1 has a lack of "free" customizaion, lack of modes, online issues. Feels like it's unpollshed, and unfinished in it's current state, and the monetization is overly aggressive, and terrible.

    For me, I played the game for around 200 hours since release and it has been fun but the releases from new content have too much of a gap. The content needs to be put out more frequently. Im not saying new characters every month but something to keep players from not felling like they are in a cycle.

    I feel the worst of all mk1 problems is that playing against characters like Johnny and kenshi just feels unfair because there isnt really a viable option to play against the pressure, You can't even touch a button because that means that you might already be dead. And i just hate the fact that you can go with an overhead and a low at the same time, that just doesnt make sense :/

    As a casual player I'll put my 2 cents:
    - Less single player content than before
    - Less customization
    - Characters look plain/ugly for some reason
    - The aggressive monetization is just the cherry on top for me to instantly put this game on hold until the ultimate edition with all the content comes out
    - All the previous drama with NRS and how they dealt with the complaints about Sheeva, blatantly banning people from tournaments for using a username calling them out and just the total radio silence and lack of any communication on their part.
    Well, back to MKX I guess

      MKX was a brutal game period and one of the best Mortal Kombat games ever released. It's been disappointing to see NRS not really acknowledge the achievement they had with that game and to try to keep it going. The Kameo thing I felt was really really out of left field. That along with a very strange art direction and character designs really put a damper on my short experience with the game.
      Also, at the end of the day, fighting games need to be really stylish. It's video game where the 2 characters and the stage take up the whole screen. MKX had style and so didn't MK11. For some reason MK1 seems absolutely devoid of visual style, especially with the characters themselves. No go look over at Tekken 8 and SF6. THOSE GAMES HAVE STYLE!!! And that's how fighting games should be.

      That’s how it was for me when Omni man came out, my brother bought it for me when it came out nd I felt bad cuz it was $70 nd I didn’t really play it, I told him I was guna play and main Omni man when he came out cuz we both love image comics, he came out, maybe 2 weeks maybe 3, I played with him I won more games than I lost so I thinks that pretty good, but idk the combos were the same I switched it up with the kameos from Darius then scorpian then kung lao but still idk ( I love mk I grew up with it i didn’t come from the hype that most people here talk about )i don’t play atm I’ll most likely play again when ermac comes out then repeat what I did with Omni man then wait til Homelander which who knows when that will that be

    I am so happy someone finally said this, This is exactly how I've been feeling thank you brother it really needs to be known. MK is my favorite franchise probably of all time but they dropped the ball honestly and all this stuff they're adding post launch that are literally fundamental things to have in fighting games, this game has mobile game type feel idk like it's just everything feels rushed and like a game preview and we basically got a beta at launch and now the full game is finally sort of out? I think the reason it has fell of is because they're so focused on these guest characters, MK has so many characters that could be brought back and given a complete make over like...all the guest characters have been done, they just need to go back to the roots. I think mk11 really started this trend which mind you visually is brilliant but the gameplay vs mkx or 9 is just not comparable to keep it a thousand!

    I’m a casual player that played mk11 first and mkx after. I actually loved mk11 when I first learned and played it. Then when I played mkx I loved a lot about that game even though it was harder to learn. I liked mk1 the first few weeks I had it, but I was skeptical before its launch. I slowly lost interest in grinding and felt like there weren’t a lot of characters i actually wanted to play. I haven’t touched the game in awhile and I don’t plan on it. I might be in the minority, but I’m actually not a huge fan of the gameplay. This also might be a result of street fighter 6 which I find more enjoyable to play. I have always loved mk lore and characters more, but I think the kameo system has taken away from the main roster too much in this game. I think kameos are too spammy, I think most of the main characters don’t have enough strings or moves, and even though the movement is faster than mk11, a lot of buttons or specials are way slower. Like I loved sub and scorpion in mkx and to a degree in mk11, but they are super stiff and boring in mk1. I feel like they fixed the combo system that was lacking in mk11, but watered down most of the base kits and animations of a lot of moves for main roster characters. I don’t think mk1 gameplay is bad, but it’s not good enough and not worth the 4 year wait for me.

      The slower combo strings in MK1 are part of what made me completely lose interest in playing the game. Johnny is one of the only characters that doesn’t feel slow or clunky to play (compared to MK11). However he feels really cheap & cheesy to play because most other characters can’t keep up with his buttons. People call MK11 mashy & that’s fine but at least it was fun and fast-paced.

    For me, and a lot of others I'd imagine, it kinda comes down to the fact that there really aren't any rewards for playing. Unless you care about grinding out rank there really isn't that much incentive to play after you reach full mastery with your main. Like what do I have to look forward to now?

    For me, the main reason I haven’t been playing is mostly because I’ve been knocking out other games in my backlog. But what I can say is that I’m not motivated to touch the game because I don’t feel that there’s anything to work towards. In MK11, although it was tedious, I felt motivated to go through character towers to unlock their cosmetics and intros. Plus the krypt in MK11 was just a fun experience. In MK1 however, my only choice is a very repetitive and uninspired board game with little to no variety in experience or fulfilling rewards. Despite the foundational gameplay of MK1 being so dang fun, I wish there was at least something to go to when just purely fighting with no rewards gets stale.

    I don’t play fighting games at all but have been watching ur mk x videos for a while, what initially made me enjoy watching was simply just seeing interesting hard to get combos, and this increased with trying to get hard brutalities with insane looking combos, I watch purely for the entertainment of a good player preforming flashy mechanics, that is what always has made me a viewer and continues to when I see interesting titles watching for cool combos. Mk x combo variety and high speed makes it a very enjoyable game to watch even if I do not understand the mechanics

    Now there are no addition brutals at all, not even in invasions and we have less too. (Shao has only 4, sad.)

    This game seems really really fun for me to watch professionally, me and my wife will even sit down and watch it and she knows nothing about this game.     For the context : I’m part of the hype collapse within 1 month as I sent back my copy to Amazon after around 60 hours of playing. Being a hardcore player of MK11, I quickly understood MK1 wasn’t going anywhere for me.
    For me it’s simple. I don’t care much about the technicality tbh, frame data etc (even if I understand it).
    Instead, what I want is my fights to be SPECTACULAR.
    I love and I want stage transitions,
    I love and I want interactibles,
    I love and I want krushing blows and long epic fatal blows.
    The more I see a movie in my fight, the more I’m in. Simple as that.
    (Once again I’m not talking about the mechanic here but just how good looking and satisfying it is to watch them).
    I don’t care about a 70% combo in a straight line. No matter how technical it is.
    Told that in a comment of one of Anhaconda’s videos the other day. He does the best looking combo videos out there, but no KB made them so dull compared to what he could do on MK11… It was not even close.
    + I need MK to have a dark atmosphere like they used to have since the very first MK. I understand the timeline reboot and all but I think it’s a sh!t xss choice from NRS. If I want a colorful environments I play SF6 or Granblue, not MK.
    + I think the characters looked better and more realistic in MK11 (more detailed face and costumes)
    + Fxck Kameos. I think it was a funny system as an optional game, but not as the main game.
    Or a full tag team game if anything, that would have been ok. But not this weird halfway between 1v1 and 2v2.
    And I believe people don’t like kameos either. -> If there was a no kameo league, you could be sure everybody would play it as a good old MK game rather than this. Many people asked for a no Kameo mode when the game was about to get released actually.
    Add to this as you said, lack of intros and outros, lack of communication, lack of good features they always had (pin moves in training ? Come on!), P1 advantage on release and so on.
    I was maining Havik. I never got the chance to see his face animated on brutality win pose (the one where he holds his head) whereas he's talking.
    The game felt utterly rushed in general it was a shame.
    There was no chance I was going to participate in this literal SCAM from WB.
    What NRS and WB have to understand is that any new game that comes out has to have AT LEAST all the features and visual standards that the previous games had. That's how it works for me at least.

    Here’s the problem. If you gonna have the ability to pick 2 characters. You make both characters playable. Kameos aren’t fulfilling enough. Either go all the way and 2v2 or keep it 1v1.

    My main issues with mk1 are how frame data is not real you can walk back on plus frames you can also easily wake up buttons or D1 unless you’re playing against Johnny my second main issue is how they stripped characters down because kameos launch raiden has two launching specials and 2 launching strings we should’ve had more special moves

    I am an 80s child, I played all MK versions, enjoyed the reset in 2011, then MKX even more, but tapped out in MK11 kind of... seeing MK1 looks really tempting, but I am now old and slow 😂 so I am intimidated for the first time to go play because it seems too overwhelming 😅 I still go back to MKX just to have that arcade feeling that I miss the most.

    My main problem with MK1, as someone who mainly likes to play the offline modes cause I just don’t have the skill to do very well online. The offline modes feel so barebones compared to MK11, the fact we’re just NOW getting the intro interactions this season shows that (and the interactions are like one of my favorite parts as an offline player). I don’t even bother going into Towers of Time anymore because the invasion stuff is so grindy and the difference in the amount of xp you get compared to when you play online is insane. I love the game and the gameplay but they did not do enough for offline players

      They should bring back leaderboards for the towers. There’s really no good rewards for playing the towers so there’s really no point. I also don’t like way the towers look and how long it takes to start a battle. MK11 towers were much better and the augment system was fun. Talismans and relics just don’t do it for me.

      As someone who also plays mainly single player(I've won 2 out of 6 or 7 matches online since launch), i too was very disappointed there were no character interactions. But as for invasions, it's not that bad now that there's that, yea it's grindy but once you play all the way past the season boss and go to the seasonal tower and level that up, i believe thats where the xp gains increase quite a bit. The seasons for me make it kinda interesting

    The gameplay is great and I love this game, not too much to complain about gameplay wise. However what’s wack to me is that DLC characters don’t have multiple skins like they did in MK11 and on top of that we don’t get any themed or just free skins in general from the kombat pack like we did again in MK11. For example we got Batman themed skins when joker dropped and we got spawn skin for jacqui and barbarian kotal khan. Stuff like that sucks because it’s one of two things: NRS got lazy or they are being rushed or WB said “no free content.” Which either way is trash because we are getting substantially less for what we purchased compared to previous titles

    This is my 2nd favorite mk game. Number 1 being mkx. My problem with mk1 is the lack of feel of it being an mk game. Like wheres the music or darkness. The music got me pumped in the old mk games. I love the actual gameplay but it's missing so many other things. Why is there still no online training mode? There's not really any online lobbies.

    I noticed that some characters like Gen. Shao , Geras and Johnny Cage are really interesting to play with a lot of combo streams while other characters like Sub-Zero and Kitana are not. I wish every character had a lot of combo potential.

    Criticizing the release specifically I would say that MK11 was waaaay worse, the towers were freaking ridiculously difficult. But the lack of content in MK1 does really suck, it doesn’t make sense to me why they would gut the awesome customization features from injustice 2 and MK11.

      Glad someone noticed this too, the characters move super slow, so you only have the illusion of the game being faster when it's just more aggressive, animations in 11 were much better even if the game was slower, it's weird

      When playing Reiko, I've noticed that meter burned moves look exactly the same as the normal non enhanced version. Which sucks because I loved MK11 because there was so many flashy moves with all its meter burned enhancements. It felt alot more in depth. I'm not sure if this is the same with other fighters and not just Reiko but I feel like it was done to skip time

    Well for one, the OP characters are near unbeatable if you’re playing the wrong character (sub vs Tanya). The bad characters are only redeemed by 2 or 3 kameos while the good ones can just do wtv. Also, new content has gotta drop sooner and cheaper.

    I'm a die hard MK fan and I really want to love this game but it's such a big step backwards in content from MK11 in so many ways. I think the game play feels clunky like Injustice. I've never liked the way the Injustice games played and this is similar in my opinion, plus the Kameo system was annoying to pick up to do big combos.

    I love the game, but from the viewer's perspective there are a couple of things that NRS has done really bad.
    - It took them a whole month to patch the game, until then, it was everyone and his dog playing the same lame Cyrax strategy. That same thing, done over and over again no matter which character is played, made the game absolutely boring to watch. That needed to be patched right away, when the hype was still there and people wanted to see the game.
    Also, new players that bought the game and played an NRS game for the 1st time left after a couple of weeks, because who would like to play a game where you are chipped until death or having to play Sento's blocking simulator?
    - The other point is the bland character's design.
    You see SF6 and you see colorful characters, with variety regarding the look, body proportions, personality and skins.
    You see MK1 and you see the same bodytype for the girls, with bland and insipid design for nearly the whole cast, a game where politics is more important than the character's lore and you have a lack of variety and representation in the roster.
    So, having a bland character's design plus a boring and repetitive gameplay, that hurt this game really bad on the viewership, add that to the bad monetization scheme and the awful offline content repeating the same mistakes from the past, and you'll get a very unattractive game for the casuals.

    I think one main reason why the popularity went away so quick was because a lot of the people (including myself) that played the Mk1 game or watched Mk1 videos were people who didn't really know much about it. The hype was insane and that attracted the attention of a lot of people who weren't really Mk1 fans. So after a little bit, people slowly started to lose interest cause they never really had any before. It's kind of like a trend on tiktok or something.

    It’s the cameos for me, they should have known better, it doesn’t have a place in mortal kombat, people were already complaining about unpunishable moves, but there are quite literally moves that you can’t dodge, I’m talking overhead and low at the same time. They also make moves safe. Mk11 was better simply because of the balance.. because everything revolved around what moves you equipped, and because of that, all they had to focus on balancing WAS THE MOVES, you can’t balance the cameos. They’re broken by design.

    Been trying to put my finger on what in MK1 just wasn't measuring up to MKX, & I think by virtue of your videos I've figured it out. Everyone's always said MKX played like a game on crack, but I think it's more than just that. The game a decade into things is still at least for me producing brutalities and combos I've never seen before. The depth of the system to keep everyone in involved in the game went beyond anything we'd all seen before. More importantly, your channel Super in particular kept all of us coming back because of how deep into the roster you got in learning the different characters; audaciously doing things like playing the roster in order and random select matches. However, despite how amazing MK1 originally looked, I'm seeing a lot of the same gameplay online (your channel continuing to be the exception when new characters are released). Even on your channel, not seeing you go thru the whole roster to play is disappointing, as seeing the same rushdown gameplay match after match becomes repetitive. I thought we'd get stupid amounts of combos from player-assists, but that really isn't the case. Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents...

    I think one of the reasons is the Cameo system.
    in MKXL or MK11 you could just pick up a character and learn it but this game requires more time to figure out what cameos are best and etc...
    They could just give us a Tag team.
    I am not a professional Mk player but i love the franchise and i don't have a lot of time to practice.
    Overall i think MK1 is a good game and it's getting bigger, it's normal that there are a lot of criticisms.

    What would draw my interest back into MK1 as a viewer would be a significant expansion that is very consumer friendly priced. Story expansion, another single player game mode that is fun and engaging, two player tag mode for casual matches. Online matches are fun to watch but variety is the spice needed for this game.
    Gameplay improvements to keep interest is to add some new moves to the cast. For example... Scorpion needs more moves cause his string looks like its the same thing in every combination. Thats my only gripe with the gameplay.

    It really just comes down to single player content if we’re going to be honest. The gameplay and foundation and everything in MK1 is up there with MKX or even better and most people agree but we have to remember the majority of those 20+ million copies they are going to sell are going to be super casual fans who are not going to be playing online ranked and won’t be in Kombat League, won’t be pulling off crazy hype 60% Kameo Kombos or enjoying some of the most fun aspects of the game, they will play the story mode then head off to invasions and we can all agree invasions suck unfortunately so they’re just isn’t really enough content for the casual audience and I believe 1000% that is the reason for all the backlash even beyond the micro transactions and stuff that are optional cosmetic crap that we really don’t need and could do without and wish people would do without so that they don’t keep selling them to us. I love this game but I believe a large portion of the customer base are unhappy because the largest portion are casual players and casual players one single player content which this game absolutely is lacking

    The story mode was a massive step down from what we got in previous games. It’s WAAAAY too safe. Besides Kenshi getting blinded and Sindel dying (both things that are kind of remedied via magic swords and Ermac) none of the heroes suffer anything long term. The end is literally just everyone returning to where everything happened but it doesn’t feel like they’ve changed.
    Also, it’s called mortal KOMBAT and the very tournament the game gets it’s name from is the most BORING part of the whole thing because there are no stakes. You find that out from Liu Kang before the tournament even starts. Also the villains don’t feel like actual characters cause we barely get to know ANY of them.
    All in all, MK1 story mode feels very cookie cutter and afraid to take risks. Hopefully it’s just set up for things to go insane in the next game.

    Quite literally the only thing I do not like is the fact that instead of trying to outsmart somebody and actually beat them with skill, you have to sit through the braindead meta like the kung lao kameo, or reiko throwing stars. It just isn't fun when you pick a character that you've been wanting to play, but they aren't apart of the meta so there is zero point in playing them.

    The one thing I love about mk1 is how the roster looks (kameos included, minus scorpion,sub zero and lao) mk1 might just be the best well rounded roster with tons of fan requested characters it might even surpass armageddon in terms of how many characters there are

    One reason for me is Kameos, on one hand it allowed for way more creativity with combos and mix ups, on the other players have found ways to use them to make moves that should be punishable safe, which made the game way slower and too careful to watch and play imo

    I’ve been saying this before the release of the game & the MAJOR ISSUE is the Kameos. Each character should be able to do full damage combos without a Kameo, cmon now, this is Mortal Kombat for crying out loud. I even suggested before the release date that… yes it still would be good to have kameos in the game just in its own fighting mode for the people who do enjoy the kameos. I would have to disagree with you Super on the zoning because if you have ever vs a retreating spamming Shang Sung you would know that his zoning is very effective.

    Mortal Kombat is just something I grew out of after I started playing other fighting games.
    Nothing wrong with Mortal Kombat as a fighting game in many ways, but I just didn’t have interest.
    MK11 was nice but it didn’t hook me like MKX did.
    Also Street Fighter 6 is still going strong and Tekken 8 is right around the corner. MK1 is fun but it definitely is offering less for more ($69.99) while MK11 right now are on MASSIVE sales all the time, Ultimate Version included.

    I really like the game, but one of the bigger drawbacks for me is the characters available and how they all look. They look good but a lot of my favorite characters are either not in the game or got crapperd on like Shao Kahn and Kotal Kahn.

    i was here all throughout the mk days: the predator kombo, the ermac vortex, the sektor gameplay, the erron black erra everything it was amazing. it was amazing to watch and amazing to replicate and play. i was even here for the first year and a half of mk11. but when mk11 died out a little i stopped playing it and watching it. then mk1 was announced. i was so insanely hyped and wanted to restart all over again: i was with the kameo idea and i loved every bit of gameplay we had. but then it dropped. I honestly don't give a shit about customization intros and all that i felt that mk11 overdid it tbh so that wasn't the problem. my problem was in the gameplay: it's a system that had so much potential to be fun and creative and incredible but then we realised it's not any of that. it's just really reptitive stuff with the game feeling like pick the character that suits the kameo the best rather than pick the best character with the kameo. plus the easiest gameplans were the most effective like baraka/johnny/ raiden cyrax. so of course what does nrs do? nerf cyrax to the ground. i honestly hated cyrax but the answer wasn't removing him off the map. clearly the game was rushed. characters could've been tweaked. huge parts of the gameplay feel underwhealming. it become boring to play and watch. it's really dissapointing i was really looking forward to having the best mk game. but yet here we are. and unfortunately developpers and wb games aren't helping

    I quit playing mk1 a while ago. The only thing mk1 got right wad losing the variation system. Don't like the kameo system, don't like not having the short hop mechanic, miss the krushing blows.

    As a viewer I like watching MK11 more than MK1. It just looks cooler to me imo. I'm not a player so i couldn't say if it feels better or not. I'm coming from a viewer's standpoint.

    Mk 1 makes me miss night wolf, kano (not kameo) Sonya (not cameo) kabal, erron black, and when we used to get skin packs for like 3 characters. Also mk11 was alot easier to get skins as many have already pointed out.

    Personally I think all the changes to the plot, character personalities, and gameplay caused it to just lose its aura.
    I’m generally more excited to click on a game with Scorpion out for vengeance than I am for one where everyone is friendly

    Idk if it’s my controller or the game but I feel executing combos is difficult sometimes and less consistent than doing it in MKX & MK9

      I have definitely noticed (on two different systems and controllers) that buttons just do not come out sometimes or the game will have such intense input lag that I'll be stuck in the block animation for a second or two longer than I should.

      Previous games were far more lenient on the timing for combos and especially metre burn moves.
      For some reason MK1 requires you to be frame perfect with a metre burn or you won't do that move

    As a Mortal Kombat fan since 1992, I just hate MK1 in almost every single way. I absolutely hate kameos, I don't like assist games and it's not something I ever wanted in an MK game. Second, the game is crazy unfinished and lacks tons of basic fighting game features in 2023: No crossplay, no lobbies, no matchmaking while training and so on and so forth. Lacks content in general, invasions mode is fucking awful, honestly one of the worst things I've seen in a fighting game. They promised a new start for the story, only to give us the same garbage time travel/multiverse BS they've been doing for years. Also tired of the inconsistency when it comes to character designs with every new game. I also hate the gameplay, honestly enough is enough. The game still feels stiff and sluggish, and the animations are still rough, when you compare it to the competition why would I keep wasting my time with a game that feels like ass when in the same year we've had better feeling fighting games already? SF6 is fucking killer, amazing. Same with Granblue. Literally every non NRS fighting game feels and plays better, why would I keep wasting my time with NRS trash?
    I'm over it, won't touch another NRS game until they fire the whole team and start from scratch.

    The fact that the main villain of the game is a DLC character, tells you everything you need to know about the game.
    Aftermath was a master piece with real actors from the movie, this game goes to twelve year old kid multiverse bs.
