I know that lot of people are talking about those knife slides, but dude, those instruments bursts from bass/drums and guitars right after those slides, are making the breakdown for me. The distortion coming from the instruments is just pure carnage in headphones!!!

@@Sailor1010 That is not right, though. I will not speak about his views, but the reason why NJ is under the radar lies in the fact, that they dont have any image. Bands like Whores, NJ, Converge, Ken Mode, are not that popular like Slipknot or Iron Maiden, cause hardcore bands lack the image. They don´t have any mask, or costumes, they look like regular people. No image for the band. Without image, it is difficult to be displayed in peoples minds.
Norma Jean knows what sound they want, and with every release, they keep honing in on that vision closer and closer. There’s so many instances in metal where you can just make piles of bands that all sound the same, yet you’d be hard pressed to find another band like NJ.
Brian...literally, thank you. I've said this for years & while I love lots of different metal, your statement is an absolute TRUTH. Somehow folks want to argue this but I'm glad someone else hears it like I do. Rock on brother.
I used to go see this band in Atlanta when the first started as Luti-Kriss around 1997. They would play the entire show with their backs facing the crowd. Josh Scogin was so intense. It's cool to see they're still going although no original members remain.
y'all's house show tour was the last show i saw before the pandemic set in, and i just saw y'all again with P.O.D. here in Dallas. it's always a good time when NJ comes around
I was SO wishing I could make it to Texas for that show!!! They announced it just a little too late for me to make plans otherwise with some notice, I would have traveled there from FL real quick. Glad to hear it was a good time.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 yah it's definitely not close lol so I hear ya but under the right circumstances, with the stars aligning and such haha we love Texas though, great place to vacation to so we would have seen NJ bring the house down & spent a night or two enjoying the surroundings. @@c-joneslawntree3852 Yeah, I hear ya dude. I just drove all the way up to VA to drop off my cousin 10.5 hours away and tbh there wasn’t shit out there. The kings are back. I love how it is somehow connected to the MOM concept video. Nothing is better, than seeing main vocalist banging his head into those heavy instruments bursts and i just love, how the rest of the guys, are jamming with Cory into the music. The passion and physical sound is for me unbeatable when it comes to Norma Jean.
Hell yeah. Is that John back on bass? I know he's the only one who rocked a white fender. The new guy had an Ibanez or something every time i seen him. Fender jazzes are so gritty, they just scream NJ for me. Perfect song man. I was stoked the first time I heard it.
I forget how much I love these guys. There is just so much great metal to listen to these days. I'm more obsessed with music than I am with everything else with the exception of my family. Started listening to these guys with Antimother and have been hooked ever since
I've never heard this band before. My apologies :D Really awesome sick stuff And breakdown is really mind blowing - it kicked my ass out like guy in this video kicked out the door
I can't believe that Cory has kept this band alive for all these years. I remember 17 years ago walking to school listening to Oh god and a few years later people saying that Norma jean is dead without Josh but I've always been a huge fan of Cory and he has taken good care of the Norma jean name over the years through all the band member changes
