I think Europe is the second largest consumer base for MK. It may not look like a huge loss to Americans but it definitely is a hit to the pro scene none the less
I think something going unsaid about the removals of MK is that a huge part of it censorship and trying to have a broader appeal. For years now they have had to have their fingers on the trigger to cut away from fatalities and brutalities, and I would not be surprised had it come back again they would be cutting from every fatal blow. It just does not play well for advertisers and makes the tourneys less attractive for the general public and internationally. I can understand why an advertiser would be fine with someone getting punched in the face by a cartoon girl but not seeing a hyper realistic man pulling someone's head out through their ass or something in graphic detail. Of course this is not the only reason, but I think it definitely factors.
This is the case IMO, look at the way it's been handled on UA-cam. Sponsors don't want their brands next to blood and gore, 100%. Shame because IMHO MK1 is the best the series has been since 9 dropped, not perfect but really fun.
This game made me realize I'm not good at fighting games and really not even having fun with them anymore maybe I'll come back in very long time but I don't know
The MK1 roster has so much creativity and sauce, it's just that the competitive side has overshadowed it with boring, brain dead metas. That's been changing but from a non competitive side, the game still has less features than it's previous installment, has more micro transactions, and fails to measure up to the full game packages of SF6 and Tekken. Obviously gameplay is most important but still. They dropped the ball with that which is a shame because there's a lot of really brilliant character designs, there's also never been an assist based fighter with that level of creativity and versatility.
It's not looking good for MK1 at EVO Vegas 2025 either. You got Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Fatal Fury, Gran Blue and I think it's very likely a classic game is gonna be in there and my guess is Marvel Vs Capcom 2 or Capcom Vs SNK 2. There are too many fighting games that have a bigger audience to turn up for a tournament then MK. It's community has not been supporting on mass at offline tournaments. Mortal Kombat 1 just isn't that a big of a tournament fighting game to justify it being there. The only way that changes is if the community do what the Smash community did back in the day. Mortal Kombat 1 at EVO this year wasn't good. I don't see the developers really caring about MK being at EVO so the community has to realise they are on their own and create a buzz for the game. I personally don't see 2025 being great for MK1. Even Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has a bigger chance then MK1 to make it to EVO to be honest.
The sole reason mk1 is not at evo is because of the Community. They single handedly bashed the game to the ground and took every opportunity they can to tarnish the game. The constant complaining and creating problems out of nothing decreased the value of the product to the opened eyes who would’ve been willing to invest in the game. The same ones who were bashing the game also complained and was in shock MK1 is not on the Evo lineup, there simply hasn’t been an end to it. I’m not saying MK1 doesn’t have its problem but there was and still is a trending hate train for it. People share the negative piece for validation and interactions.
THANK YOU!! it's literally probably the biggest reason mk is in the dirty, besides lack of content. When the ghostface hype is over it's back to shitting on the game
Yeah, that's a shame because MK1 is really fun. Of course it's not a perfect game and it took some time to get to a better state, but it is genuinely fun to play and there are so many possibilities, but some content creators and even some professional players who have fallen in performance and blame it on the game keep talking shit about it lol
I could overlook the all of the issues MK1 had at launch with things like missing game modes, online issues, character glitches etc... IF the gameplay wasn't complete ass. No one wants to play a game that feels like it was intentionally designed to specifically reward bad players and their bad gameplay with the safety of a kameo at the end of their mistakes. In all honesty i don't think that Kameos are a bad idea, but they should have been used as combo extensions on confirmed hits, not safety nets for trash players. You should not be allowed to use a kameo on block, that's just sheer nonsense, and how the actual F#@k does this game not have push block or any defensive tools when they allow all the other BS?
You're telling me the skill ceiling in MK1 is too low? I don't know if I can agree with you. A good player can find the best way to counter any bullshit by a bad player. This is not a luck game, if you're good you can play better and find answers. If you say otherwise, Tekken 8 would be in a similar place
@@iSpitboxer if it were then it would be at evo. It wouldnt have the lowest playercount out of the last few games. It would have a real competitive scene. The devs would be proud of the product and willing to hear our input. Mk1 is (comparatively) garbage. I still enjoy it but not nearly as much as previous titles.

I had never heard of Evo France until recently

😒 even if this is the case majority of us wasn't even though of when mk dropped but okay

It being a good game would help more than a pro tour
This game made me realize I'm not good at fighting games and really not even having fun with them anymore maybe I'll come back in very long time but I don't know
Come to street fighter 6 side brother
Or you can come to a real fighting game like Tekken 8
Yeah come to Tekken 8

Mortal kombat 1 will likely be banned in Singapore of next year due to Singapore being a neighbor of Oceanic and asian regions.
MK is a PR nightmare. How are you gona have an ultra violent game and think u can have mass appeal?
MK historically has the largest audience in the FGC and has been the most mainstream fighting game so.....
What is that banger instrumental playing in the background?!
Qor Danny is our goat for the music
Evo france*. We'll see if it at the main Evo like last year.
No videos when it wasn't at Evo Japan... Almost like it's not surprising.
lol the evo for mk is kombat league with the shrine. They’ve monetized this game out of competition at a high level.

You can't casually play mk1 that's really the issue with the game.
Mk1 sucks simple it came out garbage and it’s progressively getting better but that year1 just left a bad taste in my mouth
Get over it
