    These videos are really great. I'm going to have a nearly identical surgery to yours in two weeks on my right shoulder. I had the jumbo package on my left shoulder eight years ago and remember it all vividly and probably TOO clearly. My left shoulder has been subsequently flawless. The same guy is doing the right, a much less involved proposition. Still... Your vids have been great for me, because a big part of me didn't want to do the right. It's not really bothering me, but I trust my surgeon, and he says I will lose my bicep if I don't do it. I know what to expect, and dread it, but your cheery, no-nonsense disposition and matter-of-fact presentation helps remind me that I got through this once, and I can get through it again, and the results will be worth it. I'll be checking in from time to time, because Lord knows I'll have plenty of time in which to do so.

      Brian, thank you so much for your kind words and it is wonderful to hear my videos have helped. You got this! I am probably going to need my right shoulder done soon enough, so I totally understand dreading this surgery for a second time. BUT the results are so worth it. I am at month 10 and feeling better than ever. I had a lifetime of injuries on my left shoulder so I feel better than ever right now. My left shoulder and bicep is probably better than my right! I kinda had a feeling my other shoulder would need surgery, so I will probs be watching my own videos years later to motivate myself to get over this tough long brutal at times recovery. Best wishes and I would love to hear how it goes!

Still can’t pick anything up and can only hold my arm up, BUT I’m not in the pain I was before the surgery and am sleeping better finally too! Every rotator cuff surgery varies, but getting it repaired will change your quality of life. Good luck 👍🏻

      Thanks for the comment and letting me know that my videos have helped you. I am currently in rehabilitation now again with my right shoulder, having the exact same rotator cuff surgery that I had on my left a year ago. Wishing you the best and I can promise that after a year of first having the surgery and then all the rehabilitation, it is all definitely worth it. It’s what keeps me motivated with my right shoulder right now. June 2024 will be a wonderful milestone because I will finally have both shoulders completely rehabilitated. And then the next year will be getting back to my strength that I had before my injuries. Stay strong!

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  Рік тому

      I did not have a CPM machine, Suzanne. I just did my required exercises, stretching and strengthening. I wore the sling for 24 hours a day for six weeks straight religiously. I only took it off for an hour or two a day to shower or do my exercises. In week seven and eight I did wear my sling seldomly just to give my arm a break or my shoulder a break. I also would wear it sometimes out in public.

    Thank you for the videos I am having surgery in December and your videos are helping me to prepare for it. I have one question. How did you take a shower? I have a lot of long curly hair and I don't know how I am going to do it.

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  8 місяців тому +1

      Taking a shower is definitely a challenge for the first weeks and gets better, but it still not easy for over a month. With long hair it is even more difficult as well as shaving. I have gone through now both arms being worked on the same in the last two years and am currently on month 4 of my rehab on my right shoulder and arm. I would sit down on a waterproof chair (if your shower doesn't have a seat) and put my head upside down. I would then shampoo my hair with my good hand. It would take much more time than being able to use both hands, but I did get better at it. By month 2-3 you should be able to have good enough range of motion to lift your affected surgery arm up to your head to gently use both hands. But, honestly it took me to month 3-4 to be able to wash my hair well with both hands. Be patient and careful, which is why I would remain seated in case having my head upside down made me dizzy lol. I used dry shampoo ALOT during the first few months. Let me know if you have never. used it or you want my favorite brands. I would only wash my hair maybe twice a week for the first few months. Best wishes and thanks for watching. Also, happy to hear the videos have helped you!
