Close your eyes, and you couldn't tell what wood is what. It's the human who's playing brings out the voice of the instrument.
I literally did that without prompted and I really couldn't tell the difference in which guitar was being used as I was there while waiting for him to switch guitars

The sustain doesn't drop off on the LP. It growls fantastically for my taste.

The Gibson compresses the note on immediate attack and then releases it into a singing sustain. The others stay reasonably flat after picking but they do sustain well. Gibson all the way in this test. Thanks for the very well played comparison test. 👍🏽

Yes but it’s the same amp on all 4 guitars yes? Either way it sounds absolutely fantastic and the way they react to different pickups is very unique and exciting, I will own a valve amp until the day I leave this earth .. promise! Back to the ‘sound’ of one.. manufacturers have spent millions of dollars trying to emulate valve amps, and they’re getting ‘quite’ close, and after nearly 40 years of playing I’m thinking most people might not be able to tell the difference!! :-)

Согласен. Я в юности делал гитары. С 13 до 20 лет примерно. У меня инструмет самый разный в руках с 7 лет. Батя был слесарь наладчик от бога, и дома было полно инструмента, и батя начал из меня делать человека, когда мне было 7 лет. Первую гитару я сделал в 13. Ужасная. Но через 7 лет это был уже вполне достойный инструмент. Всё в прошлом. Сейчас мне 63г и профессия моя другая была. И я согласен с вами. Не важно, какая гитара. И звук здесь одинаков. Кто говорит, что прям отличается, он врет. Всё зависит от начинки и примочек. Это не акустическая гитара, где влияет дереао и конструкция. Здесь влияние этого может поймать только осциллограф. Смени датчики и всё изменится. Смени начинку и примочки и будет всё не так.

All three sounded so similar but once again to Suhr had a great sound edge the others by a little a this point it would be which feels the best to play.

GIBSON has the most balance tone. Suhr is a bit bright (just a little bit). PRS has rounder sound.
They all sound amazing. Probably Gibson but still extremely hard to pick one.

Just bought a Suhr today after going to the store looking for a PRS however, really small nickel frets and constant friction with the fingerboard made me go with the Suhr with SS Jumbo frets so it feels almost the same as a scalloped fretboard

Actually I saw him in concert about a year before he died. He played this on a White Charvel.

Yes, he used the Les Paul in Thin Lizzy almost exclusively. His 1959 was the only one his estate didn't auction off. All those guitars and amps and road cases were auctioned off a few years back and I would have loved to have any item form his estate.

This is a tough one. They all sound great. The Les Paul is iconic as always, but the PRS just barely edges it out for tone clarity on this one. Would love to see an Ibanez GEM in the mix for this one as it would be a solid (pun intended) contender.

I'm surprised how similar they all are especially the Surh. Not many strat style guitars nail that tone. The one I prefer is the PRS Mcarty . Its just one of the sweetest sounding guitars I've ever heard. The Gibson sounds great too . An SG can sing it beautifully as well.

the wood has almost no effect except that their density affects the sustain. The only thing that will change the sound is the pickups and their output, and that will likewise be minuscule as the are all passive neck humbuckers being used, thus the outpup, and the pickup placement in regard to their positioning along the strings, will have more effect on the tone than the voicing of the pickups themselves. They also all have different scale lengths - the Suhr is 25.5", the PRS is 24.594", and the LP 24.75" - which doesn't directly change the tone, but affects the string tension and the positioning of the magnetic fields across the strings, and for the shorter scale lengths of the PRS and the LP, the ease of things like expressive bending. The Suhr also has a whammy bar, which will negatively impact bends, tuning, and sustain.
The sustain on the Gibson in unmatched.

exactly, most people judge with their eyes about most things. The PRS sounded best by far, perfection in all aspects.
The Gibson’s sound is rounded and ethereal and sounds really good on bends, PRS has razzle in its sound but still sounds closer to the LP, Shur’s is more closer to the edge break and a bit harsher.

The sustain on the LP, unbeatable. I play mostly blues and I’ve tried many many guitars. I always come back to my Gibson '57 classic Custom Goldie.

Gibson takes 1st, but PRS takes a close second. They just tend to hit that sweet spot tonally between, say, a strat and a Les Paul.
This was pretty close between the les paul and the prs for me, took a few repeats - but the gibson feels like it sings final bends a touch nicer.
I don't hve a good ear but they all sound great....If you don't look at the video, can you tell which guitar is being used?...I can't

They are all double humbucker guitars playing on the bridge pickup with slight overdrive. The LP’s pickup sounds like it has a little bit more character (probably lower output).
