In US news and current events today, veterinarian Ralph Tran has taken in Duo, a cat with two faces. Duo has a rare birth defect that affects cute kittens called diprosopus disorder. Two-faced cats with the disorder often don't live long, but Tran is doing his best to give Duo a happy and healthy life.

Exactly! It's bit suffering cause it's struggling to move from one place to another.. They should let her be in peace and let her go.. She keep getting seizures and infections and other issues and they keep letting her be alive when she is truly suffering.
Multiple infections and tube feeding is suffering. This is an inhumane freak show for your passive entertainment, while thousands of perfectly healthy unwanted kittens are put down.
I believe the cat is happy. The video clearly states that she purrs and ask for head scratches. If the kitty was truly depressed she’d be doing none of that.

This cat will never grow up healthy. Normally for cruelty free life this animal would normally be put down. In the baby chick life it's most commonly called culling.

She has been conditioned by humans to consider her predicament as normal. Say whatever you need to convince yourself that the right call was made here. I still have my doubts. The more I watch this video, the more I think of how other cats will receive her, I start to think of this as less compassion and more cruel human self indulgence.

These defects are usually a form of mutations.
If you don't know, humans more or less has more chances of these sorts of defects than animals... I mean bad genes gets passed down a lot as our lives became more convenient and science lets us live much longer and overpopulate the planet.
Natural selection for human beings kind of ran it's course... So the only ones killing humans off in droves is the dictators, crime syndicates, extremist cults, of those sorts.
This is so sad. Seeing her just trying to live a normal cat life just hurts deep inside me man

Actually if it had been upto the hospital I wouldn't be here. They said I would be blind, deaf, paralysed, brain damaged. So best to turn me off.
My mum said no.
Guess what they were wrong, first thing was when the hospital photographer took a photo of me and I jumped. My eyes reacted to the light so not blind.
Next sound. My mum would walk round the cot calling my name and I would turn to her voice.
Next was the fact I recognised faces. I'd move away from the drs and go towards family members. The drs even took off their white coats and I'd still move away from them.
Just because you assume something dosent make it right.
Ontop of my physical disabilities I also had an abusive father. As a baby I also contracted two deadly viruses one of which killed half the babies in the ICU.
Add in the fact that the placenta stopped working near the end of the pregnancy I survived on using my own body fat I had minimal oxygen hence them saying brain damage
Yet I survived, I was born, I survived two deadly viruses as I said and I survived my father.
Yes we are born with issues but we are also born fighters. We faught to be here and we will keep fighting.
I was actually I a test subject on two ops I had.
At the moment in time I have a vertibra in the middle of my spine which is being crushed which bring pain other then that I live a full active life.
Funny thing is your here due to medical science. If it wasn't for medical science even a non disabled child could be dead.
After all hygeene in hospitals, all medical instruments all help support life.
I cried watching this but mainly because a stranger stepped up and showed the kitten love and care regardless of the kittens deformity . Ill love kitty the same way. ❤

That is a horrible defect, but this little kitty clearly has the will to live. As long as she isn’t suffering or in pain, and as long as she gets the veterinary care she needs, hopefully she gets to live the good life every cat deserves.
I love how spunky and energetic she is despite her two faces. She's clearly making the best of the life she's been given :3

@@mhmyuhh in that it would have been better to have put the cat down. The agony and pain is obvious. True mercy would have to put it down when it was a kitten. As it grows it will face more complications. This is called human narcissism, not benevolence. It's the same as parents who give birth to a child knowing that child will be born with a terrible painful disease and only live to see 2 months, while the child is in pain all those 2 months. Mercy would have been to abort the child, torture is to let it be born just so it suffers a painful death.

The kitten is struggling a little right now but is overcoming the obstacles set out for her and doing better every day.
The plan eventually is to have her middle eye removed so she can function more or less like a normal cat.
Her quality of life really is quite good.

Oh, this poor baby, she is such a little darling. I'm glad this guy has taken her under his wing and gives her all the love and help she needs.
It is truly a heartwarming sight for many reasons! Many would put it down! But this man saw reason and gave it life! And think of what could potentially come of it! The surgeries intending to improve this little kitties quality of life could contribute to one day being able to help future cases like this one live a better life than before! It's not just insanely wholesome! It's going to be an eventual life saver!

Both sides are in the right but we also already have the knowledge for these surgeries so the furthering knowledge shpeel is incorrect.

It doesn't look like she is suffering. She looks like a happy kitten to me. I mean you are not in this cats body so you don't know how it is like... It's the same as if a human with several limbs or deformations would be born, most of the time they don't suffer, they learn to live that way. This cat behaves normally, a bit whacky but she needs special care and more time. I'm Glas that she didn't get rejected like most animals or people, that are just a bit out or the ordinary.

@@pippo9830 well, looking at that Frank and Louie cat, it seems that they get used to these conditions and live normally. If there is only 1 brain, to me it means that there is only 1 mind, and the only reason why it has troubles right now is that cats usually have eyes in front of the face, not on cheeks (I believe the middle eye is just super dead), which makes it very hard to understand where they go and what they do. Plus the head itself is bigger. I'm not a biologist, that's just what I think, correct me if I'm wrong. So it learns how to live with that and survives. Every organism in this world can get some critical changes so they only need to adopt.
All domestic animals grow at there own rate just because they have trouble walking now doesn't mean they won't when they are older, no suffering is happening and they are happy with their life so why should you take that life away with no true reasoning other than you think it's in pain and shouldn't live like this.

The third eye really makes the cat look so much different than any other, even more than the two jaws!
There's reasons why the Cat mom reject kittens like this. Its to limit a chance of this type of birth defect doesn't end up in future generations.
1. It's not a reason, it's her instict.

That's why there's so much controversy with euthanasia, as many people actually want to die due to their condition. I don’t know like of course it’s sad this little kitten has this defect but something about it bothers me , like I know it’s only one cat but because both the mouths and noses work I can’t shake the feeling or illusion of it having 2 minds since it has 2 faces and they are fully functional. At least the doctor has adopted her and is doing his best to give her the best life possible, hopefully we’ll get updates on her progress, fingers crossed she’ll improve but I’m sure if the doctor thinks she’s suffering he’ll do what is best for her - I think he’s an amazing human being for helping this little soul.
Thank you! So many people in the comments have taken one look at her and their reaction is "Kill it!!! Shes not normal and therefore suffering so kill it!!" And don't even stop to think about how this kitten is really feeling. They'd have murdered her simply because she has a defect and would have robbed her of any chance of life. The man taking care of her is amazing

No pain just a larger learning curve and probably some confusion maybe also some depth perception issues she will probably lean to just ingnore her eye and focus on touch due to the confusion

It only took less than a minute for me to cry.... I'm glad they are getting rid of the middle eye to stop inflections. A lot of people would say to kill cats like this to "end their suffering" but it makes me happy to see them cared for. It's showing how humans are able to give love and those who need help. Giving compassion, helping as well. It breaks my heart to see Duo's troubles but I am also very proud of how much this cat is trying her hardest.
I hope we are able to continue to give more care and compassion to those who are 'not normal' inside and out.

Well, I'm glad the kitten is with a well caring owner.
Even though I‘m usually for saving every life possible, I believe that this poor little baby is suffering almost continuously, therefore I really believe it would honestly be better to relieve it and have it rest in peace, where there’s no pain anymore.....😿
