I love how this perfectly portrays the contrast between how scary and powerful Arlecchino is compared to her actions making her seem gentle. I'm so excited to see how her story plays out.
@@fatuusdottore To me she feels like a combination of Vegeta(Dragonball) and Silco(Arcane). Abusive, emotionally manipulative, viewing emotions and attachments as weaknesses, completely and brutally ruthless, and potentially under the self-delusion that she views her children as pawns that'll she'll being willing to sacrifice for her own goals. But all at the same time her motivation is based on a ideology seemingly formed through trauma rather than personal interests, she despises nobles who cowardly and selfishly exploit those beneath them, she genuinely empathizes with those who have gone through similar struggles as her, she wants her children to grow up strong and self-efficient, and when push comes to shove I think she would rather watch the world burn then let her children die even if she wouldn't admit it herself. She seems like a really fascinating anti-villain character with a lot of emotional depth and complexity. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if her final boss fight ends up playing like Majin Vegeta where she denies ever loving her children as we fight her only to switch to our side(possibly in a moment of self sacrifice) when she realizes how much she loves her children and that her emotions aren't a weakness.

One of the things i adore about the animation is how Arle's every move seems to be barely contained *rage* , a mask barely kept in place. Also, kudos to the imagery of the previous Knave and specifically the poker(?) card, showing how our Arlecchino took up the mantle of Knave and used it the *erase* the previous director. Overall, 10/10

There's a quote that goes something like, "We were raised and taught to sacrifice our lives for the family. When father took over, she thew away the old teachings and told us that we should value our own lives and strive to become our best selves." Based on what's in the game, I think the old Knave was a pure evil figure who regulaly abused the children of the House of the Hearth and forced them to sacrifice their lives like pawns in order to fulfill his own goals while he stayed safely in his position of power. Arlecchino saw this, possibly even experienced his abuse fist hand, and grew tired of how he would abuse his children while never being willing to risk his own life like a coward, thus she decided to kill him and take over his position as the Knave. That would explain why she despises characters like Furina and makes several comments about hating lazy/cowardly nobility. She has seen the way cowards in positions of power that they do not deserve will exploit, abuse, and abandon the people beneath them just to carry out their own selfish goals and she wishes to see them all burn in order to protect those like her children. The music video alludes to this by showing the previous Knave as this dark figure looking down upon children while brandishing a whip while Arlecchino is shown tied up in chains until she eventually breaks free and becomes the Knave by burning the old one from existence.

Arlecchino is a very interesting character, and i've always wanted to learn the pieces of her lore that is still shrouded in shadow and mystery.
