  • i love the V8. I thought it was gonna be closer. Even on the 2nd pull the 5.7 had the jump and the new Hybrid still came back in a hurry. I respect the new technology Toyota! the new powertrain is amazing.

…and my 21 5.7L will be running as smooth as ever with 250K miles on it….wonder where the overworked, underpowered v6 twin turbo will be at that time lol. Leave well enough alone toyota. Virtue signaling over the climate change hoax isnt worth the 3-4 increase in mpg’s. Shame on you Toyota, shame.

  • @youarerightboss

I'd still rather the bulletproof 5.7 liter V-8 engine and reliable 6 speed Aisin transmission.

  • @roadglide1142

Let’s see what one makes it to one million miles as some 5.7’s have and are still running!

I have owned a 4.7, 5.7 and now the hybrid.

The amount of "wishing death" in comment section is insane. People would seriously wish people's car to blow up to justify their old trucks. I drive a 4th gen V6 4runner, with the first aluminum V6 for a toyota truck, 1GR-FE, that had head gasket problem for how many years again, for both 4runner and Tacoma? And guess which V6 is the most reliable NA V6 on the market (although, the current one don't have the same head; although, this is going away). I just hope toyota can own up to new product's oopsies and make them bulletproof, again. It would be absolutely idiotic to throw away their reputation for this.

Fun fact! None of you will keep your Tundra for 1 million miles.

I’d rather walk everywhere than drive a hybrid truck.

It was great until the turbo v6 blew up two months later….

  • @extrahoticeamericano

I live in a very extreme cold area where it goes below -30 Celsius during winter, is tundra hybrid able to handle that kind of weather?

  • @KubanKevin

Without taking the engine and reliability into account, I find that the new tundra is just overall cheaply put together. Test drove one and it had a rattle on the driver side door which was very noticeable. Checked online and apparently a huge amount of them do. The third gen Tacoma also rattles on the dash near the passenger dash speaker. They aren’t cheap either so it’s definitely not acceptable but diehard Toyota fans will excuse it.

This isn't suprising. The V8 better truck is built for reliability and tanky like reliability of it. The hybrid is fast but lacks when towing and definitely as we have seen with Watergate in reliability.

  • @Jaimeleon20

New tundra doesn’t impress me at all. It’s still very heavy and underpowered.

  • @vinsanityguitar

I own both trucks the V8 is much faster

  • @joemcgee2918

Id love to see it from a stop, what does that 583 lb pounds of torque do vs 401. I have driven the 5.7 for years and years.

That’s cute. Too bad acceleration doesn’t get you to 15+ years of a reliable truck. Have fun watching that motor and turbo burnout.
