FOR THOSE WHO LOST THE SHIFT+S shotcut for the Before-After View! I use english Lightroom with spanish keyboard, just found the correct line on the spanish folder: "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/BeforeAfter/Before/Key=Shift+s" you can just take my full text with the " included and maje a .txt file which you have to save as TranslatedStrings_Lr_es_ES.txt And add here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Resources\en (if you don't have the en folder, just make one new inside Resources) , then restart Lightroom and you'll have the shortcut ready!
it does not work for me- i created a file named TranslatedStrings_Lr_de_DE in the en folder with this: "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/RadialFilter/Key=m" "$$$/AgDevelopShortcuts/Enter_Radial_Filter_Mode/Key=M" "$$$/AgDevelopShortcuts/Enter_Graduated_Filter_Mode/Key=Shift + M" "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/GraduatedFilter/Key=Shift+m" and it does not work. i tried both lightroom language in english and german

Thanks Craig! In earlier LR 5 and 6 versions before 6.14 I used a keyboard macro to go View -- Before/After -- Before only but these days Alt V -- B -- B turns on B&W (also Alt V -- navigating to before after with arrow keys does the same). I just remapped BeforeOnly to "less than" and it works!
i had to do this so i can use backslash on my US keyboard so i can quickly switch to before and after views i nthe develop module. thank you so much for your video!

I am using Lightroom 6 and want to assign a shortcut to the command "Show Photos in Subfolders", because I use it quite often. Problem though: 1. I'm using Lightroom in english, but there is no "EN" or "US" folder in the ressources folder (only DE). That appears strange to me, because there are lots of other languages in the folder. 2. I don't know the command for "Show Photos in Subfolders", that I have to insert into the textfile. 3. Is it even possible, to ADD a shortcut for a menu element, that hasn't a shortcut yet? 4. And if so, how can I do that? ANY help would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Hi Craig I have to thank for your instructions because thanks to them I was able to create a shortcut that I did not have access to. I'm from Portugal and use Lightroom 6 in English language with a Portuguese keyboard. I needed the Toggle Flag shortcut and I had none. I created the LightroomEN-PTkeyboard.txt file with a single line: "$$$ / AgLibrary / Menu / ToggleFlag / Key = '" to use the Apostrophe as a keyboard shortcut (it is on the question mark key, next to the zero key) By the way, the En folder did not exist in Resources. I had to create it and everything went well... Thanks again... :-)
Why not just add a Portuguese keyboard to Windows? All our PCs have French and UK keyboards setting, just select the one you are using at the time? Or does that not work with LR?
The issue isn't the Windows keyboard map, that's all fine, the issue is that the Lightroom shortcut keys are not accessible on a Portuguese Keyboard. For instance, the [ and ] keys on a Portuguese Keyboard requires you to press the "alt gr" key, however, this is already assigned a shortcut.
For me it didn't work with the full name of the file "TranslatedStrings_LR_en_..", but I found out that my german file was only called "TranslatedStrings" and so with only that in the name of my new file it finally worked. Anyways thanks for the video!
I wonder if you can help me find the right bit.... I use Pointerfocus when doing instructional videos on lightroom etc and online teaching. Pointerfocus has hotkeys assigned F8-12. My problem is when I want to use the pen tool in pointerfocus to draw on lightroom, it opens up the second monitor window which is super annoying! (F11) I followed along with your video but could not find the line of text i may need. I would like to disable the F11 shortcut from lightroom or change it to something else.
Thanks man, I have LR 6 and I can't get the method to work. I initially cant find the "en" folder in resources. I create one then, and past the file it but it still not functioning. I have US ENG keyboard. any idea?
I tried to change crop from "R" to "End" and it didnt work, i had to make EN folder and the other stuff you show in video but i cant figure it out to work
another (easier) way is to install Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator (MSKLC). in my case i just had to "turn windows features on or off" (install .net framework 3.0). then just switch around the > < \ keys so i would not have to hold "ctrl" or "alt" to call "\". finally build a new keyboard layout and install it
I don't understand what Adobe is doing… I'm here because I want to use the "before only" function, which is set on the \ key when Lightroom is in English language, but for some reason this key doesn't work because I'm using a French keyboard and the only way to use this function is to toggle Lightroom in French, and for some reason that function is "Shift + S"… So stupid.
Which language have you chosen in adobe cc? I am using english international with a german keyboard and it still doesn't work. I also tried en_EN for the file name and it didn't work
You're wrong, there is a British (also known as a UK) keyboard layout which is different to US keyboard. "AZERTY" is also not a language but still a keyboard. Anyway, "British English" is a language in the same way "American English" is a language. Keyboard layouts are simply that, layouts, they are not languages.
what the heck? Lightroom DOESN'T let you change shortcuts? WTF??? WHY????

Quick question - are you able to create a new shortcut for something that does not have a keyboard shortcut already such as "Go to Folder in Library"

There is an English keyboard and no such thing as a "British" keyboard because British is not a language.
