Instead of every main roster character having a versatile move-set, NRS stripped these main characters of their crucial moves and gave them to the kameos. Main roster should have ALL of their moves, while kameos should introduce completely different abilities with combo enhancing potential. Which it doesn't. Its backwards game design and everyone knows NRS did this to cut corners and sell us a lackluster product. They rushed this game and still are, while charging you AAA prices. Doesn't matter if you don't want to believe it. Keep coping.
The Hate mk11 to me is still one of the most odd unnecessary and exaggerated reviews of an mk game. You can say maybe it was the “dumbest” meter and breakaway and variations were ass ideas. Kuai was the goat Sub. Bi-Han is a fool. Sub still needs buffs and Khameleon shouldn’t be the only way to make him better. Kotal needs to sit out a game although he was fun in 11. Too bad Cassie gets to be in EVERY game but not Fujin, a playable Sareena with a demon stance, etc.
It sucks, MVC3 2 and 1 did it way better and was way harder to play same as DBZF so it's not the difficulty it just sucks playing and watching it no way you watch tourneys on this game and think yeah this is it this is the fighting game that represents MK right here
I don't even mind the Kameos. Got used to them very quickly. Again, there's barely anything to do with these characters. In the same arenas with the same three modes and we're nearing a year since launch.
In a way, it already has. UMK3 has aged rather well since 1995 and is still being played by people while SF6 has a questionable future in terms of its longevity.
It is 😂 sf6 introduced us to a new system of fighting cuz then who will continue to buy street fighter games. But other than that sf6 is alright too cuz the roster is butt. Same thing with tekken 8 cuz it only favors new comers nd that’s not how a games are , nd the roster is butt. It's been that way since after the death of injustice 2 that THEY, NRS chose to kill. Since then games have been mediocre and lacking substance. That game was the last NRS title that had a soul.

Here’s the cold hard objective truth: Mortal Kombat has been slowly dying ever since it’s one and only true creator, John Tobias, left Midway back in the early 2000’s. And just like Disney’s Star Wars, NRS’s MK completely destroyed itself with consistently atrocious writing, woke politics, and scummy business practices. And the defense tactics has been just as weak & nonsensical as those defending The Last Jedi.
I believe the game needs too much mechanic changes to be good which in turn, would mean mk1 loses its "identity". Sad that Boon keeps reiterating that this will be the longest supported mk game. I do hope the changes come but its deeper than only patches in my opinion. The game was a mess from the start, some characters truly makes it seem this game was built for a 1 v 1 and the kameos were thrown in last minute.
I've been playing mortal kombat since the first back when i was about 6 or 7 yrs old. After this mk i guarantee you that i will never buy another MK again. Since the ps2 era MK had always been the stiff klunky fighter. The story and characters have always been great, but the gameplay has always been ass compared to every other fighter. I know ppl like it but i guarantee you those who are super good and love mortal kombats gameplay probably suck or dont play the other fighters. The gameplay needs to change. Its too linear, their movement doesnt look or feel natural at all. They really need to get actual martial artist to tell boon the physics of kicks and punches and how they should animate them.

I actually played for the first time in a long time last night and it was pretty fun Ran some KOTH sets with my friends on PC while i was on Xbox remote play through my Vision Pro. It was pretty sick. Then i tried Invasions and only got through 2 nodes before i was bored again

After Omni man came out I took a long break but I started playing again and I have been having way more fun since a ton of the op characters got balanced, and using Movado with Shoa is a blast.
Ermac saved himself 😂. Imagine a watered down ermac with his previous playstyles. Hopefully the feedback nrs received about him is used going forward with the base characters

Honestly, I watch gameplay of MK1 here and there but I never actually purchased the game because I have been subscribed to this channel for a while, but everytime I saw a video from this channel pop up in my feed it just didn't seem like the right time to get into the game. I thought maybe I would wait for the game to improve, but videos kept popping up that would indicate that was not happening. I understand this is not a doomer video but the title seemed more of the same so I clicked on it to see why. Maybe I'll wait for the next one to come out.

In my opinion, the kameo system has made this reboot of the franchise into something like a prototype. That’s not an excuse for its issues but I’m not in shock of its struggle, especially from its struggle in the competitive domain. There’s a lot of potential with this game but there’s clearly a lot of maintenance needed. There’s a lot of balance issues but the thing about this game is that it plays very different than its previous titles. I would be very interested to see how this game would do with a mode stripped of kameos. We probably won’t see that happen but that’s the primary issue here. The imbalance and restriction of utility that keeps most having to use specific pairs instead of having the freedom to play how they prefer, if there wasn’t such a disparity of capability between characters with these kameos. Im not saying anything new here but I think we shouldn’t forget the significance of that. As for the negative criticism you keep pushing back towards.. Man idk, I agree with you on the majority of things but the thing that gets me is the absolutist talk. Saying if X doesn’t happen the game is done. Or if Y happens the game will officially be dead. I share your concern but why does this game have to be treated as if it’s either absolute garbage or the best thing ever? (Referring to the shills there). This game needs work but the absolutist arguments is where I part ways with you. Same goes for those who act as if the game is perfect without any major issues. I think you hit the nail on the head! I'm an MK fanboy.. but I will say this is the least enjoyable MK ever and I've been a fan since the original MK. Most of the actual main characters lack character and life.. they depend complete on cameos to be sort of good. Like Shang, who was the pre-order bonus, though he can shapeshift, his actual character is boring and very one dimensional. Zone or do his long combo.. lacks combo extenders and other viable combo options on his own..
They had the right recipe for mk in mkx yet they didnt build on it. Both mk11 and mk1 are a disapointment. People just dont wana accept that mk1 gets boring real quick after few games. Add mkx to evo and it would get more players because the gameplay is fun to play and watch.

We have said it before they don't legacy games mechanics so they keep starting from scratch that's bound to screw the pooch. I can't lie i have fun with all of them but mk1 is the most disappointing because they abandoned mk11 which which need another patch or two. So they were already in a hot spot . They didn't deliver .

You're not gonna get anything groundbreaking or interesting. Best I've got is sub zero can combo into iceball with Stryker forward Stryker bombs or combo into overhead from meterless dive kick also with Stryker bombs but the timing is so strict it might as well not even be possible.

Every main character needs new moves and strings like mileena needs a better mid string she needs a full screen straight Sai minus the teleport after and needs to be meterless she's an empty character. Buff mileena
NRS will probably never make a counter hit system, but I think it would be cool if instead of finding a “perfect” cooldown for every cameo, you could implement maybe a 25-50% kameo meter regen on counter hits or even just certain strings. This would make it so the availability of kameos would come down to more PVP decisions resulting in more availability. People who chronically wake up buttons will be punished by making their opponents kameos more available to use etc. or even instead of counter hit this could be a punish system. Nobody can really complain about a cameo being overbearing when the overbearing part comes from in game decision making
Nope what’s truly balanced bro if the health gauge the same, the damage is the same, and the cooldowns of the kameos is the same. That way the Player is what make the character top tier not the game, cuz if that’s the case Lui kang is a “god” right so….but other than that what can we do but enjoy it for what it is.

Ive always been indifferent to Kameos. I don't love them and I dont hate them, but I'm also a pretty hardcore MK fan and would play the game regardless of mechanics. However, the majority of casuals I've seen absolutely DESPISE kameos and the overall direction of MK1. If a casual loves Kitana for example, then they ONLY want to use Kitana. Not a secondary character along with her. If your ever click on a random IGN video of MK1 in the early days; they would complain about Kameos, lack of grit and gore, etc. Not to mention that the game was released unfinished and with a lack of casual content. I can see why it's not performing as planned.
1 big reason we have these kinds of numbers too is because every MK is different and also having injustice in the mix, some people only like 1 or certain mk games, some only like injustice etc. nrs has a community for each game essentially

What I think should happen is the character should be able to have a more complete tool kit, this would allow them to play multiple cameos. Obviously they will always be a best cameo for a character, but this way the character will still be able to function and be competitive while still keeping freedom of expression

I think Combo Breaker is it. CEO next month will have no pro series attached to it and no pot bonus of 10k. EVO same thing unless WB surprises everyone. I think EVO will probably have about 500 signups for MK1. It's Vegas and EVO after all.
So here's some insight on casuals for mk1. My friends just play the offline stuff because they hate the online. Online, you actually gotta practice and get good. Since I started to play online they won't fight me anymore because I actually know how to play lol. They like doing the cool moves and just normal little combos instead of these 50 perecent damage combo strings. Online is a shitty learning curve lol takes time and practice before you start winning matches. Took me 30 some matches before I won a match in mk1. Mk1 was the first fghting game I played online, and I've been playing fighting games since the og mk.
Great. Everyone complaining about Khameleon now so she gets nerfed instead of buffing everyone else. People crying about Khameleon are gonna kill this game. If they aint going to buff other characters cooldowns, at least have the meters fully regenerate between rounds. Khameleons is basically always full by the start of the next round. This would promote the rest of the cast to using other moves at the end of the round at least. I mean Kung Lao, Goro, Sonya and Sektor have meterless launchers that are never used. Even Goros walk punch has great chip damage that would be useful if it didn't kill your meter for the next round. I don't think this is the full answer, but i think it would help. The full answer is to do this along with what Rewind said
I'm starting to think this game is unfixable essentially because nrs isn't willing to fix the right stuff. We all know that a khameleon nerf is coming but buffs to the characters that rely on her won't the other kameo nerfs prove that. It took 7 months for rain to recover from cyrax nerfs and I'm not willing to weight that long again for desperately needed character buffs. the characters need buffs/changed now it's been like that since season 2 hell liu is still running his beta gameplan with his day 1 kameo that should not be happening in season 6, 8 months later.
Even if i wanted to engage with the microtransactions in this game, i cant. Since they tied the extra skins to the ingame store, which i cant buy currency for since I use a Japanese PSN account. Never had this issue with MK11. They cant even scam customers competently anymore
Like I said time and time again this game just needs things to work like speeding up normals so you can probably jail somebody the movement needs to speed up have proper wave dashes fluent and make everything ambush assist a proper assist in any other fg is just what ambushes are in mk1 🤣 just make everything ambushed and to have the assist have more depth and the characters get more tools then the game would be great until then it’s hanging off a cliff rn

Foxy’s statement is what I realized in the first 2 months of playing the game. This is the main thing that makes this game not fun. How are people just now noticing this lol. Kameo’s should have been a separate game mode and not the main or ranked game mode. This is simply a casual fighting game nothing more.

I believe the game needs too much mechanic changes to be good which in turn, would mean mk1 loses its "identity". Sad that Boon keeps reiterating that this will be the longest supported mk game. I do hope the changes come but its deeper than only patches in my opinion. The game was a mess from the start, some characters truly makes it seem this game was built for a 1 v 1 and the kameos were thrown in last minute.

I've been playing mortal kombat since the first back when i was about 6 or 7 yrs old. After this mk i guarantee you that i will never buy another MK again. Since the ps2 era MK had always been the stiff klunky fighter. The story and characters have always been great, but the gameplay has always been ass compared to every other fighter. I know ppl like it but i guarantee you those who are super good and love mortal kombats gameplay probably suck or dont play the other fighters.
The gameplay needs to change. Its too linear, their movement doesnt look or feel natural at all. They really need to get actual martial artist to tell boon the physics of kicks and punches and how they should animate them.
MK will Always have wasted potential and never surpass SF or MVC series. Mk universe has the potential but the devs hold it back.

Honestly, I watch gameplay of MK1 here and there but I never actually purchased the game because I have been subscribed to this channel for a while, but everytime I saw a video from this channel pop up in my feed it just didn't seem like the right time to get into the game. I thought maybe I would wait for the game to improve, but videos kept popping up that would indicate that was not happening. I understand this is not a doomer video but the title seemed more of the same so I clicked on it to see why. Maybe I'll wait for the next one to come out.

In my opinion, the kameo system has made this reboot of the franchise into something like a prototype. That’s not an excuse for its issues but I’m not in shock of its struggle, especially from its struggle in the competitive domain. There’s a lot of potential with this game but there’s clearly a lot of maintenance needed.
There’s a lot of balance issues but the thing about this game is that it plays very different than its previous titles. I would be very interested to see how this game would do with a mode stripped of kameos. We probably won’t see that happen but that’s the primary issue here. The imbalance and restriction of utility that keeps most having to use specific pairs instead of having the freedom to play how they prefer, if there wasn’t such a disparity of capability between characters with these kameos. Im not saying anything new here but I think we shouldn’t forget the significance of that.
As for the negative criticism you keep pushing back towards.. Man idk, I agree with you on the majority of things but the thing that gets me is the absolutist talk. Saying if X doesn’t happen the game is done. Or if Y happens the game will officially be dead. I share your concern but why does this game have to be treated as if it’s either absolute garbage or the best thing ever? (Referring to the shills there). This game needs work but the absolutist arguments is where I part ways with you. Same goes for those who act as if the game is perfect without any major issues. I think you hit the nail on the head! I'm an MK fanboy.. but I will say this is the least enjoyable MK ever and I've been a fan since the original MK. Most of the actual main characters lack character and life.. they depend complete on cameos to be sort of good. Like Shang, who was the pre-order bonus, though he can shapeshift, his actual character is boring and very one dimensional. Zone or do his long combo.. lacks combo extenders and other viable combo options on his own..
They had the right recipe for mk in mkx yet they didnt build on it.
Both mk11 and mk1 are a disapointment.
People just dont wana accept that mk1 gets boring real quick after few games.

We have said it before they don't legacy games mechanics so they keep starting from scratch that's bound to screw the pooch. You're not gonna get anything groundbreaking or interesting. Best I've got is sub zero can combo into iceball with Stryker forward Stryker bombs or combo into overhead from meterless dive kick also with Stryker bombs but the timing is so strict it might as well not even be possible.
Everybody has like 1 optimal with the right Kameo u can learn any character in 2 hours max it’s not alot of depth like we had in mkx and mk9

NRS will probably never make a counter hit system, but I think it would be cool if instead of finding a “perfect” cooldown for every cameo, you could implement maybe a 25-50% kameo meter regen on counter hits or even just certain strings. This would make it so the availability of kameos would come down to more PVP decisions resulting in more availability. People who chronically wake up buttons will be punished by making their opponents kameos more available to use etc. or even instead of counter hit this could be a punish system. Nobody can really complain about a cameo being overbearing when the overbearing part comes from in game decision making

That way the Player is what make the character top tier not the game, cuz if that’s the case Lui kang is a “god” right so….but other than that what can we do but enjoy it for what it is.

Ive always been indifferent to Kameos. I don't love them and I dont hate them, but I'm also a pretty hardcore MK fan and would play the game regardless of mechanics.
However, the majority of casuals I've seen absolutely DESPISE kameos and the overall direction of MK1. If a casual loves Kitana for example, then they ONLY want to use Kitana. Not a secondary character along with her.
If your ever click on a random IGN video of MK1 in the early days; they would complain about Kameos, lack of grit and gore, etc. Not to mention that the game was released unfinished and with a lack of casual content. I can see why it's not performing as planned.

What I think should happen is the character should be able to have a more complete tool kit, this would allow them to play multiple cameos. Obviously they will always be a best cameo for a character, but this way the character will still be able to function and be competitive while still keeping freedom of expression

I think Combo Breaker is it. CEO next month will have no pro series attached to it and no pot bonus of 10k. EVO same thing unless WB surprises everyone. I think EVO will probably have about 500 signups for MK1. It's Vegas and EVO after all.
So here's some insight on casuals for mk1. My friends just play the offline stuff because they hate the online. Online, you actually gotta practice and get good. Since I started to play online they won't fight me anymore because I actually know how to play lol. They like doing the cool moves and just normal little combos instead of these 50 perecent damage combo strings. Online is a shitty learning curve lol takes time and practice before you start winning matches. Took me 30 some matches before I won a match in mk1. Mk1 was the first fghting game I played online, and I've been playing fighting games since the og mk.

If they aint going to buff other characters cooldowns, at least have the meters fully regenerate between rounds. Khameleons is basically always full by the start of the next round. This would promote the rest of the cast to using other moves at the end of the round at least. I mean Kung Lao, Goro, Sonya and Sektor have meterless launchers that are never used. Even Goros walk punch has great chip damage that would be useful if it didn't kill your meter for the next round. I don't think this is the full answer, but i think it would help. I'm starting to think this game is unfixable essentially because nrs isn't willing to fix the right stuff. We all know that a khameleon nerf is coming but buffs to the characters that rely on her won't the other kameo nerfs prove that. It took 7 months for rain to recover from cyrax nerfs and I'm not willing to weight that long again for desperately needed character buffs. the characters need buffs/changed now it's been like that since season 2 hell liu is still running his beta gameplan with his day 1 kameo that should not be happening in season 6, 8 months later.

Even if i wanted to engage with the microtransactions in this game, i cant. Since they tied the extra skins to the ingame store, which i cant buy currency for since I use a Japanese PSN account. Never had this issue with MK11. They cant even scam customers competently anymore
Like I said time and time again this game just needs things to work like speeding up normals so you can probably jail somebody the movement needs to speed up have proper wave dashes fluent and make everything ambush assist a proper assist in any other fg is just what ambushes are in mk1 🤣 just make everything ambushed and to have the assist have more depth and the characters get more tools then the game would be great until then it’s hanging off a cliff rn
