This is part 18 of the history of the gyroplane - in this film we look at why the issues that gave gyroplanes such a bad reputation in the 70s, 80s and 90s didn’t show its head earlier, after all the gyrocopter had been around since the mid-1950s and in a very easy going , relaxed atmosphere. Perhaps they were the best years?

Hi I don’t know of anyone using on in the UK - the biggest issue is a place to use it
FAR 103. That explains Benson Gyrobee.
But surely, it doesn’t matter what speed you go at, 40mph or 100 it’s, if you unload the rotors, the results are catastrophic? Enjoying the series👍👍👍
Yes of course but I guess the point is the aircraft became much more aggressive and at higher speeds the aircraft become much more sensitive control wise

Sorry I pressed post too early! The other important thing is mentality. The guy minded to buy something that potters around at 40-60mph is definitely of a different mindset than one attracted to buy something marketed as being able to do 100knts. The Air Command was a case in point - they sold that aircraft with 2 engine options in the UK. I believe almost all were the big power version and all that crashed certainly were....
Gyrocopter flying club yes speed is sexy! As the man who is flat out in 6th would know! Can one learn to fly with you, obviously once this pandemic is over?
Brian Lloyd haha yes a long time ago when I was stupid! I think in truth it depends how long it goes on for (virus) as the winter is going to be a long one for many!
