Tbh, I feel like Ellis shouldn’t be named Ellis. Yes she was Meredith’s mom and they had their good times, but she also put Mer through so much + we barely knew her. I think she should have been named Lexie, it would be so more meaningful, not only for Meredith but also for the fandom
I think Mer named her Ellies because when she had flash backs after Derek's death it resemble what happened to Ellies when Richard left her, the difference is For Mer Derek died and what Mer went through and flash kinda same with Ellies story so she named her that.
Even though her mother was harmful a lot of the time, she was one of the biggest people in Meredith's life and it was important to her to make peace and stop being tortured by memories of her mother. She learned to love Lexie but they were still just getting to know each other really. She was more of a friend still than family.
Eh I also agree Lexie would’ve been a better choice because they made us love Lexie and we grew an attachment to her. Where as Ellis we don’t know much about
Nope, there's a whole story about this in season 11 when Maggie told her she is her sister. Meredith kept saying that she would have remembered her mom being pregnant because she was 5. She accused Maggie of lying and thought she wanted money.
She didn't. But then she told the story in Season 11 to Derek saying how she remembered her mom's belly growing and seeing her water break in the kitchen and hearing a baby cry and her mom cry at the hospital.
