Firstly wholesalers wont give you a discounted rate if you are purchasing below 100-200kg of each product. They will give you Retail rate. 2. Product packaging is not economical even with 10000 packets/pouch orders, a single pouch with easily cost you Rs 10-12 or 70-90k overall. You need to purchase 3-5 lac on packing if you want to reduce per pouch cost to 3-4 Rs . 3). Amazon, Flipkart shipping fees , listing fees, Return charges will kill all your margins and you have to sell at a loss. e.g A 250 gm Almonds MRP: 499, Wholesale Price: 165/- Shopkeeper/Retail Price: 185/- Now you will get this at let say wholesale price: 165/- 1. Packing: Rs 10-15. 2. Transportation: Rs 3-4 You get at 185/- People are already selling this online at 170 or 180/- Now lets say you list in Amazon for : Rs 350/- ( No one will anyways buy at this price when its available at 170-180) 1. Amazon shipping and other fees: 141/- 2. Marketing/Advertisement cost: 10-15 3. Rto: 40-50/- Amount you get in bank : 154 (350-141-40-10) Economics only work when you get this at price that wholesalers get i.e Rs 130 for 250gm . For which the order size is 1000-2000kg minimum. i.e 6-7 lacks each product. So net net this business is only economical when you have 20-30 lacks worth stocks and packaging and then placed in a shop or amazon with big risk taking capacity.
