I just got the Moto Stylus and I was expecting a lot less!!! It has the snapdragon 8 gen 1 and being able to play PUBG on full specs no problem, that's not what I expected for a free phone through metro!
You got the specs wrong. It's a Snapdragon 6 gen 1.
I recently went from S22 to Stylus 5G and consider it a big upgrade from a user perspective.
I do prefer the flat display with the rounded bezel on the motorola
Thank you for this comparison! It's exactly what I was looking for. I have owned both Motorola and Samsung devices for years. I'm due for my next phone since my S10+'s charge port is dying and wireless charging is the only thing keeping it slowly charged/alive. I ran the same benchmark test and it shows 947 & 2718; so it's pretty on-par with the Motorola Stylus version. Both stylus phones have Adreno GPUs, which are the best on the market.
The Motorola is very appealing for the stylus, SD Card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, and especially the plastic back! I'm serious. Glass backs are bad. One drop and they shatter, just like my S10+'s... and that immediately disqualifies you for most trade-in programs, even if the screen is not cracked. -- The S23's 200 MP camera is appealing... but for $1,000 more? No.
Better battery life on g stylus.

I own a S23 and recently picked up the Stylus 5G 2023.
Yes the S23 wins in hardware, build quality, and their ecosystem but I honestly think the vast majority of people would be completely content with what the Stylus 5G offers.
The real win for Samsung is their software support.
Not sure if you have a different version of the Moto. I got the Moto just for fun cause cost me $80 with Boost. The version I have only has 4GB of RAM. It lags when I play games sometimes. The phone aggressively closes apps on me when I try to watch youtube and do something else. The experience can be frustrating coming from a flagship. My main phone is the Note 20U. The software of the Moto isn't great. Even with similar specs on a Redmi 10c, the Redmi runs better. For what I paid for it I can't complain but it's not worth the asking price of the $400 retail.
I used to love the Samsung S line series phones before they where priced like Iphones. Now some of their mid tier A line series phones are basically the price of what the S line phones used to be. Great for people that have the extra money but I am sticking with Motorola from now on. More value for my money and I don't feel so bad if I end up not liking the phone for some reason. I can easily sell it or keep it as my secondary/back up phone. I have owned a few and have had no issues with them.
Might get one as a spare or for GPS usage. That LCD is good news for heavy nav app usage
I've had Samsungs I always fry the computer. Motorolas are bulletproof. even after a lot of pics and videos downloaded in the device. Some of my Samsungs have Frozen so bad I can't even close them besides a force shut down. The Motorola had some hiccups but nothing to worry about. I'm going with Motorola. I've owed the iphone 7,8,10. Samsungs s8, s10, and the a s or a series. Can't remember. Trust me. Motorolas are built different
They're a little older, but I dual weild a similar line of phones, being the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (2019) and Motorola G Stylus 5G (2022). This combo is amazing, and is great for a weird person like me who carries two phones with me daily 😅.
I have the Motorola stylus 5 g and really like it ...I want an affordable phone I can replace every two years and dont need a cutting edge quality camera
An excellent video! I am guessing that these two phones and the TCL Stylus 5G phone are the only three phones in the smartphone market that offer a stylus? The stylus feature is very handy for those of us who have fat fingers.

You covered a lot of really good stuff, and did it engagingly; but honestly it was hard to remember back to the beginning of the video, as you covered so much... it was kind of hard to : It would be cool if you did a side by side chart in the video, to keep track: For example... If you are really into photography as a hobby S21, more casual, Stylus is plenty.
If you really care about screen brightness: S21... Headphone jack: Stylus... Expandability: Stylus... Etc Etc
ALSO: It would be FANTASTIC if you would talk about all the 5G bands each supports; and associate them with the carrier that uses them in that chart. You could have a T-Mo, Att, Verizon comparison... But overall great vid, snappy and engaging.

I go with Moto G Stylus 5G 2023. I got it for FREE with 1 month service $40 on Metro by T-Mobile. So it's total only $40. Your better hurry up before it sold out 😛

I have boost. S21. And the Motorola was actually on sale for just $10 for boost customers i got it to just have a backup but i may actually switch them out.

You did not mention Signal reception strength when you are in a house. I have had problems with some Walmart cell phones. My signal strength was poor !

1st thing I notice it's a 101 degrees outside lol
Let me start by saying the last four phones i had were s20 fe s21 ultra and s22 ultra my backup phone was a moto g stylus 5g. This year i went with a moto g stylus 2023 5g with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of atorage and i could'nt be happier. Why? Because i bought it for $154 including a $25 activation fee (ughh) and taxes. This year i cracked my s22 ultra sceeen from waist highin a case no less. To fix it cost much more the moto new. Do i miss the s22 ultra ? No and I'll tell you why. It got extremely hot when watching UA-cam livestreams or gaming. The snap 8 gen 1 is faster than the 6 gen 1 on the stylus but rhe moto doesnr gwt near as hot. The expandable storage $1399 or $1499 for 512gb or 1tb really????? A headphone jack. The charging brick is included in my package while it is only 10w its better than no brick at all. I can replace the phone 2 times and still not pay as much as i still owe on my s22 ultra 1tb!!!
Dude. I use a Lg g7, for 5 years. most people that just phone for calling and texting, can be satisfied with any phone from 2018-2021 tbh. We are spoiled as hell. All the flagships right now, literally can play borderlands 2, dark souls 2, resident evil 4, Pokemon, most switch games. The average person would probably be satisfied by a g power 2023 or Stylus lol. The average person doesn't even game, other than games that iphone 5-6 can run lol
I have a samsung a14 5g and im upgrading to motorola stylus 5g 2023 and it worth it
The only advantage that I can see on the G Stylus is the headphone jack.
I'd say having the ability to expand the storage past 256gb is another advantage. Though with the Moto being $399 MSRP and the Samsung being $1199, I'd expect the Samsung to spank the Moto in every possible way. The fact that the Moto has any big advantages at all is embarrassing. Flagships seriously need to bring back the headphone jack and card slot.

I just got the 5g stylus. I like it. Still finding new things out about it. I probably paid to much but got a year service free at $40 a month and 0 percent financing.

Samsung should learn from Motorola e. g. stylus position, price etc.
I don't like Samsung's round edges. It messes up the usability of the very edges of things like viewing websites.
I find all the size differences nit picking.
Rounded corners is probably physically more resistant to dropping on the corner.
The missing wireless charging you fix by adding a magnetic USB connection, to prevent the USB port from wearing out.
6GB is already way more than enough. 12GB is just for bragging rights and feel good factor - n o t h i n g else.
Speed wise, the Moto is more than fast enough. Compare it to earlier devices, and the Moto is completely fine.
With the Samsung, you can't use the stylus and fingers at the same time. You need to wait half a second when switching back to finger, which is annoying when using they keyboard where you might want to combine fingers and the stylus.
As for cost, the Motorola is literally like 1/6th the cost. It's and incredible difference.
The software support is the win .. for sure for Samsung .. I have the moto g power I love it but there's hardly any software updates . I'm so sad about that I wish they'd step it up
They focus more on their phones itself and not the software which can be disappointing if you have any bugs in your phone.

Does Moto phone even get more than 1 year of updates? Lol. Because Samsung gets 5 years of updates lol
It only gets one OS update I believe.
@@B_Machine No it gets 2. So, it starts with Android 13 and it ends with Android 15. It still will get two years of security patches after that. And by then the battery will start failing and you would need to replace it anyways. They are slow about rolling out the Android updates. Mine just recently got Android 13. It was a Moto G 5G that started with Android 11, so this latest update will be the last OS update for that phone.
Thats why their phones are so cheap refurbished the g power 2023, and stylus 5g, are literally 100 usd on ebay lol.
@@koreybI just got the android 14 update. 3 weeks after I got the phone. I was told only 1 update.
I'm already biased and tyoically value Sony and Motorola over Samsung when it comes to smartphones. Is unfortunate LG left the market.

i have the moto g stylus 4g and my mums bf has the 5g and we both agree that they SUCK i'm saving up money for a new phone but i've had this phone for about a year and the customization is basically non-existent and the camera sucks. they both lag like a mf and you can barely do anything with it before it freezes and you have to wait forever for it to stop. whenever you connect to wifi it lags so BAD i have NEVER had a phone as bad as this. even my samsung galaxy j7 crown was better than this thing and i had that since 7th grade 😐

Yeah 🤣 the 5g 23 version has a Snapdragon 6 gen 1 bro so there's no way your phone will lag unless you literally have more than 10 apps open in the background! I can literally play PUBG on HDR extreme without actual lagging from the hardware! Every time it lags it's from the a bad signal
the 5G 2023 is way better than the 4g.. by like 60% in cpu performance.. its even better than a pixel 5 cpu...
I got the 5g version and used over 7-10 gb of storage and still no problems, you probably got the 4g versions or have the weak variant
