Gorgeous song. It just... Makes me think of sitting on my front porch, looking over the fields while the moon is shining down, and just relaxing into the music and forgetting all else which exists outside of myself and the melody.

they're so beautifully tuned and easy to learn

I'm so happy that Eivør's voice and style wasn't ruined with forcing her to be an opera singer with an over-abundance of falsetto. Although I would not doubt for a second if she has had professional development, her inflections and the nuanced folk style of her homeland is so beautiful and such a pleasure to listen to. Bravo - this is a marvelous performance. And the lyrics are so haunting! Eivør, your music and your talent truly does have it all.
you mean "vibrato," not "falsetto." Falsetto is a male voice singing above tenor range into the alto and soprano range of women.

I am wondering the same thing! I think it is the little metal table she's holding it on and the way she rocks the kalimba from side to side on it...just a guess, though :) Maybe it is open on the bottom and has a wavering effect when the opening is covered and uncovered, similar to what happens when we cover and uncover our mouth while singing a pitch.

Das was du dort hörst ist eine Sansula :) Das sind Metallzungen auf einem Rahmen mit einem Trommelfell. Das ist eine Weiterentwicklung der Kalimba (aus Afrika), bei der die Metallzungen auf einem hohlen Holzblock befestigt werden.
Vielen Dank für Deine Erklärung, die Kalimba ist mir ein Begriff, hatte aber diese Weiterentwicklung war mir unbekannt, habe auch keine Verbindung erkannt. Mir gefällt der Klang.
