I'm a full-time metalhead, but Eivor is one of my guilty pleasures haha. Her voice is so primal, and I always say that if mother earth could sing, she would sound like Eivor 😁
One song of hers that you cannot overlook is Trodlabundin. There are many different live versions of it on UA-cam where she sings the song a bit differently each time. The "must watch"(in my opinion) version though is her live performance at Stegen Farm in Norway, on the coast of Aurlandsfjord.
This is a folk song she wrote in her native Faroese language, and she utilizes a Greenlandic-style throat-singing and Sámi-style joiking(similar in a sense to native American chanting) throughout the song.
Here is the correct link to the video 😁

As you continue your musical journey you may discover as I have the very small musical cocoon we’ve lived. Maybe this is just those of us in the US where musical talent was controlled by the musical industry and radio. For all the faults that justifiable have been levied against social media, the exposure to the musical talent around the world is a true blessing.

Great reaction to an underrated artist. Her music explores many different genres and tones, from traditional folk to electronic "dance" music, so don't expect to get a good idea of what she does from just one song. Now that you've explored so many great artist from Scandinavia, you might be ready for by far the most unique of all of them Heilung ua-cam.com/video/QRg_8NNPTD8/v-deo.html They make 90% of their own instruments using techniques from early history (earliest tools for instruments like animal horns, bones, animal skin drums, shells, etc.) mixed with modern looping, throat singing, and the secret weapon of singer Maria Franz. Another one you might like is Wardruna with Aurora (whom you've already checked out) performing together which is in a fairly similar primitive music vein ua-cam.com/video/FnkTuHP9q3o/v-deo.html That link will get you the best audio quality and probably what your viewers would prefer, but there is another video you might like better, recorded with an ancient music choir nestled in the cliffs of Kirkhelleren på Sanna, Træna, Helgeland, Nordland, Norway ua-cam.com/video/FnkTuHP9q3o/v-deo.html

Speaking (maybe just for myself) it’s wonderful to finally see and hear someone who takes your breath away with their vocal talent and stage presence as much as Floor Jansen can. Both very different singers in sound and style but still somehow plugged into that same something that’s so much higher and deeper than just ourselves.
I used to have an absolute favorite female vocalist. Now I have two absolute favorites.

One of my favourite performances in the last decade at least, but it’s more than Eivor who by herself is amazing but the videographer, the sound people (handling all that reverb & delay flawlessly), the active lighting and of course the band, it was a complete artistic package of the highest order.
Great to see it appreciated too! So much great music around the globe is right.
Personally I’ve always felt its a love song, mainly because of the “your eyes” line. I’ve also wondered how to interpret the crescendo at the end. She wasn’t caught?
I’d highly recommend her cover of Kate Bush’s “Hounds Of Love” - another complete work of art.

the jodel-like part is called kulning, an ancient vocal technique used for example during sheep herding, to call animals over a wide distance.
another fantastic vocalist is anna von hausswolff from sweden with a very wide range and variation.
she also did songs for the royal swedish ballet and her voice is able to display everything from anger to the most angelic sounds, she runs her own record lable called pomperipossa-records. her music is often tagged as post metal and her influences are for sure to be find in this music.
here are some song reccomendations to give a cross section of her work:
    "stranger" live
"the mysterious vanishing of electra" music video
"they hoped for a name" and "how many more of these?" for the royal swedish ballet
"sova" and "funeral for my future children" live with her band
that girl is amazing and a genre of her own, incomparable

Aurora, Lisa Gerrard, Kate Bush, Lara Fabian, Bjork, a troll shaman and Viking priestess all in one... Her mother tongue Faroese is the closest language to Old Norse. She learned throat singing from the great Tanya Tagak, probably as the Norse & Inuit did ages ago in Greenland.

i really like aurora, too. but to be honest, eivor outshines her easily and effortless. don't get me wrong, aurora is really lovely, especially in all stripped down live versions.
but while so many reaction channel feature aurora, they miss out the true queen of norwegian music, susanne sundfor. she was already big when aurora was a teenager. i had a snippet from the nrk p3 radio award in 2014 where susanne received the award and you could see a teenage aurora standing next to her, admiring.
her song - one of many many more - "when the lord" might be a good intro to her art. this songs crawls into your brain.

She makes music for people, search the internet and you’ll find a concert in her mom’s front room, a vid of her in a train repair workshop with only the workers who just kept working, a vid on a Norwegian farm… I like that she tours extensively in mainly small clubs, churches and unusual venues but she performs with Symphonic Orchestras mainly the Danish National Symphony Orchestra where we saw her last weekend, humble magnificent lady

Eivør is not Danish, she is Faroese. The Faroe Islands are a colony of Denmark, but the Faroese do not like to be called Danes. The Faroe Islands are a self-governing community of 18 islands lying totally alone in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and the Faroe Islands have the oldest parliament in Europe which politically governs the islands without Denmark's interference. The population of the Faroe Islands are descendants of Vikings and Celts. So Eivør has Viking and Celtic blood. It is normal for Faroese that they can understand and speak Danish, Swedish, Norwegian Icelandic and English. But Faroese, which is the Faroese's own language, is the Faroese's main language. To say a Faroese is a Dane is an insult to a Faroese. So you don't say that Eivør is a Danish singer. Eivør is a Faroese singer from the Faroe Islands :-) Thanks for a positive reaction :- )

I don't buy the religious business at all. For me it's enough to feel her delving into themes of love, longing, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. It speaks to the universal experience of yearning for a deep connection with another person and the fear of losing oneself in the process.

She got amazing voice control. She is a trained opera singer, which come forward in many of different styles of songs, from the more traditinal towards pop/rock like

    Americans....
I wish you could remember that people from Europe, and especially from the Nordic countries, hardly ever think of any supernatural beings! Out societies are great majority secular, almost to a degree to which it would be insulting for someone to just olaster their religiousity all over song lyrics.
My American husband cinfirms this on a daily basis, it's the US that is abnormally fixated on a couple of ideas around wealth that requires power, so the insertion of an ultimate authority figure serves to concentrate wealth rather than care for fellow human beings.
At least you also demonstrated thorough understanding of the craftsmanship and skill tha Eivør encapsulates, and I lived the look on your face as that ethereal voice just teansports the audience into their own fantasies!

I am Cuban and German :) born and raised in Germany all my life until I moved to the US :) I think we can find people who look for the supernatural and spiritual all around the world.
