Bobby, use to apply decals for a living. Take a sewing needle and put a tiny pinhole in every bubble and take your smoothing tool and push wrinkles towards the hole. Problem solved. HINT: Use a very fine sewing needle! You will never notice the defects after that! Nice Dinghy Captain!
"The Darkside" is a much more fitting name. I love it. BTW, I've owned an appliance repair company for 25 years. I would be happy to offer any advice I can. The screws that mount the water valve are accessible from the rear of the washer. You can then push the tub to the side and pull the valve out the front. It has four wires going to it. One for hot, one for cold and a double neutral feed. And last you will need pliers for the clamp on the hose going to the fill port on the tub. The washer looks like it is 15-20 years old. If the factory valve is no longer available, there are universal valves you can use. Good luck!!! Please reply if you have any questions.
Hey Bobby! Always use a lubricant when applying decals! Don’t worry about it! Poke it in the middle of the bubble with a needle & squeegee all the air to the hole! Will b fine! 👌
The tub and pump unit on the washer part of that stack combo slides out of the lower case like it's on rails. I have this unit in a rental, and the design is unchanged for over 20 years. It is pretty clever. You can get to everything without pulling the whole stack out. I had mine apart to replace the spin basket clutch last year. Pretty sure I saw it on UA-cam somewhere. Not familiar with the fill solenoids, but bet there are direct plug-in replacements pretty cheap if you are willing to wait.
A couple more of Sidney's marguerites and your signage will look perfect. I use to keep a bottle of scotch under the car seat and somehow it got empty too! Thanks for sharing.
Bobby, you can totally save the bubbly lettering by carefully piercing each bubble with a sharp needle and working the trapped air toward the hole with a squeegee or roller. The bubbly surface will laydown totally flat and the hole will be imperceptible! Really works! No mater how much soapy water you use, you will always get at least a bubble or two, especially if the decal is large.
Syd is screaming hot❣And her personality is absolutely awsome! Her "always seeming to have fun in whatever" attitude is truly contagious! And that smile..... she could mix my drinks anytime! 🥂🍸🍻
If switching the wires does not work, try switching the solenoid itself, as it may be a mechanical issue and not an electronic issue. Great tip though. I didn't even think of switching the solenoid until I saw your comment.
@@mikemarkel9203 Why go through all that just unscrew the hot and put it where the cold goes in and put the cold water on the hot. No modifications needed.
@@allynonderdonk7577 Yeah, cause the reason he wasn't fixing it was because it was too hard to reach. It sounds like he is just going to replace the whole washer dryer unit as it is really old. For the time being hot water will wash the clothes just fine too!
Congrats on the new dinghy! It was tense watching you pile all of your gear on the paddle boards; wondering if it all would get soaked. This will make going to dinner much more enjoyable. You know better on the decals; I would bet the new one is already on the way. Beginning to tolerate the stinkpot, miss the sailing though. Cheers Bobby. Have watched from the very start.
Saw you today passing crown bay St.Thomas headed East on this windy day. We just left St. John and I saw the boat and told my wife that I watch you on UA-cam but didn’t recognize the new name. Just watching the updated video in St Thomas airport soo you got a new name 👍🏼👍🏼
Dark Side is a great name, but I'll miss the old one. My wife of 50 years' name was Christina Marie. Ready for the first dingy voyage... then TBC. Love it!
to be fair - it is really really bright, on The Dark Side. Yes, the cliff hanger ... I wonder how it will work with the boat crane. That is one 'uge, big, tiny (ironic?) dinghy!
Yes, Syd has a great attitude! I am sure it is not just the tequila and rum either. Looks like Syd and Taylor are good at rolling with it. Also, it is really, really bright on The Dark Side. Nice cliff hanger at the end. That dingy is a beast!
Hey guys - you may have found out by now, but vinyl shrinks. If you just leave it alone the vinyl over a few weeks will flatten out. You just have to be patient with it. I owned a global vintage race car graphics company for about 17 years. It happened all the time. Cheers!
Love the vids man, pro tip if need be use a pin to pop the bubbles on the new boat stickers, usually helps get any persistent ones. Cheers keep up the great content.
silly idea... Did it years ago, when I was young and broke. Reverse the Hot and Cold water lines going to Washer. Set on Hot and cold water enters. If you want to be really fancy, you can get a hose attachment that mixes hot and cold before the washer inlet.
Hey Bobby, I'm no expert on vinyl lettering or washing machine repairs, BUT I offer a couple of suggestions: 1 - for the side with the excess of "bubbles", try pricking the bubble ever so slightly with a straight pin or the point of a razor knife, then collapse the bubble. It might save you from feeling the need to replace all those letters.......AND 2 - if the hot water solenoid is working, consider swapping the input hoses so that the cold water feeds through the hot solenoid, since it's probably rare that you "need" to wash in hot/warm water...........BUT that would mean the machine has to have a "hot water rinse" option, which might not be the case. ANYWAYS, just a couple "workaround" ideas to consider!
Hey Bobby, try using a pin/needle to remove the bubbles on the boat's new name. Make a pin hole on the side of the bubbles and use the spatula to squeeze the air out! Works like a bomb. :)
For the washer, just select warm/warm for wash and rinse, but pipe the cold water supply line to the hot inlet side. If there is no heat booster internal to the washer, you'll get cold wash and rinse.
Bobby, take off the cold water line and attach it to where the hot goes in , wash only on Hot and you will be actually washing with cold. just tricking the machine. I have both hot and cold water inputs fed with cold water at my hair salon because the staff loves to wash towels in hot only lol
Cool I like the new dingy brother on the washer situation swap your hot and cold connectors in your closet so you can wash everything in cold tricking the washer into thinking it is hot water
Watching the dingy part of this video reminded me of a question a liability attorney ask me in a deposition. “Was the SAFETY device in use at the time of the accident”. Great vid!!!
As you well know Bobby, These Highfield crafts are top shelf. The one you lost was a race car. I suspect this one will also be. And how the HELL do you run out of tequila???🤔🤔🤔🤔 Owww wait, 3 HOT chics on the boat under the age of 30. Thats how. LoL.
Suggestion: we run downstream water filters (look like oil filters) on the output side of all our raw water pumps. So if garbage get sucked in or a impeller comes apart the filter will trap the pieces. We change the filter when we do our impeller service. $100 for housing and first filter, $20 for new water filter. Cheap insurance to avoid things like the piece you lost or smaller pieces clogging the cores on your heat exchanger.
This episode is so funny! I'm from St. Thomas and I know everywhere you guys have been. Its good to see home from so far away! That area you guys launched the dinghy at I am all to familiar with. I use to work down there at WAPA.
I was watching this video with my headphones on and when you started telling about the washing machine problem I started laughing out loud. My wife asked what’s so funny? I said Bobby is having the same problem with his washer that we are.all I do is when it comes to the cold water fill I turn it off and start the timer over again when it gets to the rinse fill the the second time I turn the timer off and turn the dial to final spin push the timer button on it will spin . Pain in the butt it will get you through till you can get the part. On my machine the hot and cold water solenoids are together in the same assembly, I just got the assembly it was $45
Ha! A few months ago I sold my Cherokee 180 and bought a Super Cub, and when I gave it a name I ordered custom Vinyl lettering from “DIY Lettering”!! Great website! Easy design tool, and quality Vinyl! Love the Dinghy! I always laugh when I see people get these really nice dinghies, because they are probably nicer than any boat I’ll ever convince my wife to let me get! Haha!!
Switch your hot and cold water hoses in the back of the washer. The 'cold' water on your boat in the caribbean is going to be fairly warm, so it would be better to have only cold water vs. only hot water.
Can you run the cold water line from boat to “Y “ connected to hot line from boat . Then hook both to hot water inlet on washer . They make “Y” connectors with adjustment valves
If you'd prefer to wash everything in cold water, you could always switch the supply lines so the cold water supply is attached to the hot water intake. At least you won't shrink everything.
Perry- Salvidors is a name of a margarita all in one large plastic bottle. It tastes amazing. Just salt your glass rim,add ice, shake the bottle up and poured in. Enjoy
@10:50. That is the problem I just fixed on the dishwasher too. Why is it the water inlet solenoid 90% of the time? Luckily not too expensive or complicated to fix though.
*Edit:* Sorry I forgot "KISS" Keep It Simple Stupid...first off check the Cold inlet hose is letting water through the hose and also check that the solenoid filter(where the hose goes) is not blocked. The filter can be removed with needle nosed pliers usually! Electrician here: Easy temporary quick fix for the washing machine, when it stops on the rinse cycle, just fill the basket up with buckets of water until the pressure switch activates( you might have to also close the lid a few times due to the lid switch). The problem is most likely the solenoid coil itself so just swap the 2 solenoid coils around and run it on a Cold wash only. Sometimes you can swap the coil itself but sometimes you can't depending on the manufacturer so you just swap both the electrical connections and the hot/cold hoses around. Note: I saw you with the panel open so I'm sure that you are competent to a certain extent. I'm in Australia with different laws to you and I would have kept my mouth shut but you Americans seemed to be able to do anything and everything just about! Just pull the power cord and double check that you did! Stay alive and stay safe Bobby!
Awesome share! If you take a razor and gently “pop” the air bubbles on the sticker and then press the air out of the TINY holes you made it will look awesome like the other side. Just saying. 🔥🤘🏻
Just switch the hot and cold fill hoses at the back of the washer on the water fill valve and then the hot will be cold. When you have the hoses off take a look at the 2 metal screens in the inlets and see if they are blocked by debris. If you don't ever use hot water then you don't need to replace the valve until you decide that you do need hot water. If you really want to get tricky you could put a y with 2 ball valves on the water inlet hoses and hook them both up to the hot solenoid on the water fill valve. Turn the hot off for cold only and vice versa.
Swap the water supply line on the washer from hot to cold.... Cap the hot water and wash & rinse in cold. Then you can use it until you can make the solenoid repair.
Captain Morgan's Private Stock is great too. It is more on the spicy vanilla side, though. A bit too sweat, unless mixed with ice (give it a minute to melt a bit, depending on ambient air temps) and a splash or dash of coca-cola - MONEY!

On the clothes washer, switch the water line so cold source goes to hot input. Cold water only is better than hot water only.
That’s not fair!!! Leaving us on a cliffhanger like that with your new paddle board!!! With an engine!! Beautiful dinghy. Safe travels with it.
The worst cliffhanger ever bobby! We want to see that dingy fly.
If you can reach the hoses and put the cold side on the hot side and you will have cold wash through the hot side.

So bummed! We were in St Thomas for the whole week, and of course St John on an ipanema. I looked around for you but never saw you. Megan's Bay was cool, Maho, lime out, and have you been up to "the mill" yet? Crazy taxi ride up the hill, but very cool bar. And with all due respect, that was NOT a margarita. Sydneys energy level is always on high!
Amazing vid as always! Happy travels!

Bobby ...reverse the waterlines hot to cold and cold to Hot and then just wash on hot all the time and it will be cold water. Don’t need hot water:-)
Nice recovery from five months ago impressive.
Just switch the hot and cold fill hoses at the back of the washer on the water fill valve and then the hot will be cold. When you have the hoses off take a look at the 2 metal screens in the inlets and see if they are blocked by debris. You can use a pin to pop the bubbles and make it easier to squeeze out the air.

Swap the water supply line on the washer from hot to cold.... Cap the hot water and wash & rinse in cold. Then you can use it until you can make the solenoid repair.
