I can attest to the book I’m Thinking of Ending Things being terrifying. There’s a movie coming out now called Longlegs that’s supposed to be the type of horror that crawls deep into your psyche and starts out with subtlety, but builds until you’re terrified and don’t know why. The book I’m Thinking of Ending Things scared me during the reading process and for days after, in that style of horror that creeps into your psyche and doesn’t let go.
Your taste in books is so immaculate 😩💖 Great recommendations! The way you beg for everyone to read Such Sharp Teeth is exactly how I feel about it and I’m Thinking of Ending Things, too. Two of my all-time favorite books by two of my all-time favorite authors ❤❤ I love a good, sad metaphor lol
LOVE Brother, i recommend it so often! I haven't read I'm Thinking of Ending Things, but watched the movie and was extremely confused and felt like i wasted my time. Lol. So many of these added to my list 😊 i enjoy a good horror or thriller with commentary!
@@hikakorc143 good to know! It makes me less hesitant to read it knowing the book is (unsurprisingly) better than the movie. I think I planned to watch the movie then read the book, and yeah, the movie kinda turned me off from wanting to read the book. LOL. But I will add it back to my TBR 😊
I LOVED "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" so so so much too! I will say I just finished "We Used To Live Here" by Marcus Kliewer last night and it needs to be on your TBR if it isn't all ready!! Very much the same trippy vibes. Also queer main character!
Pet Sematary is terrifying to me because of how manipulative it feels? So many would give the burial ground a try while grieving. (Louis kind of makes excuses, “maybe I waited to long for ___” etc)
Love your lists btw :) I am def going to check some of these out. I loved Brother a lot. It wasn't at all what I was expecting going into it. You're the only BookTuber I've been seeing praising Night Film in previous videos and that's one of my favorite horror books I've come across. I know this is off topic but I suggest watching Cigarette Burns by John Carpenter which Night Film is heavily inspired from, and then there's The King in Yellow (1895) which both were heavily inspired from.
Interested in reading Brother but I don’t think any of these sound scary at all lol. “IT” is my favorite horror book ever. Surprised it’s not on more horror tubers lists. Coming of age horror is the greatest thing ever and nobody does it better than King.
I couldn't agree with all of the books on here that I've read thus far! I haven't read Such Sharp Teeth yet but Black Sheep spoke to me on a familial trauma level. Not that we had the same experience but I just connected with Vesper on that "black sheep of the family" level. And the father-issues thing too. Anyways, sorry... rambling. Love your channel and taste in books!
I used to hate reading but I just finished house of leaves and now I'm a rrader. Just got the book S and then I want to read the book about ppl stuck at theme park after a hurricane or something like that
I really want to read such sharp teeth because I’m in a weird place with my identity as a woman, but I cannot handle anything about pregnancy and motherhood 😭😭😭😭😭
Hailey what's the name of the Karen slaughter book that u always recommend?? Is it called Pretty Girls??..... wait i didnt know the test was a horror book
@@Clifford777 yes! i gave it 5 stars at the time of reading but now that i have a new pov on extreme horror i’m not sure if i 100% stand by that. would need to reread to confirm 😅

Although I’m female, I usually don’t really like reading books about womanhood because most of them are super hamfisted with feminism and I’m not a feminist. But since you begged nicely and said that it was subtle, I guess I’ll put Such Sharp Teeth on my TBR. Among a few of these others. Most of these sound pretty interesting. I read Come Closer recently but I clearly missed a lot in that book. I might have taken it a bit too literally. I didn’t really see the commentary it was trying to make. Whatever it was trying to say about womanhood clearly didn’t fit with my experience of it. …Which is what usually happens when I read books that are supposed to be a commentary on womanhood. 😅
