Having grown up with the dutch version but as an anime fan now, this is wonderful to hear. As a kid i had no idea it was japanese animation, but it may have been one of my first experiences with it. Absolutely *love* this version of the opening song. Lot of a nostalgia too.

Loved this Cartoon when I was little. (Dutch Version) Funny thing is that then I didn't knew it was made by Japanese Animators. But this this very day I still watch Japanese cartoons from time to time. :D
Not just the lyrics but also the arrangement, Herman Van Veen and his longtime collaborator Erik Van der Wurff wrote a beautiful song and the Japanese improved it so much.
Herman van Veen's (Dutch) original will always be the most beautiful to me (but that's very personal since I grew up with it and he has such a unique voice).
Nagumo hayashibara megumi's version is better than the original. Bettet arrangement and vocals. Van Veen's lyrics are better however. Spetter spatter spater.
Dutch dub, even though the original, is really bad. On the other hand, the finnish dub has distinct, recognizable voices loaded with character. Even though it only had literally 12 actors, it's borderline unnoticeable. They're *that* good.
+Hattakiri Actually, it wasn't such a special thing. At that time, so often Japanese studios worked together with European (especially Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Denmark) makers because their ideas were so great and they just needed someone as skilled as the Japanese studios to bring their imaginations to the screen.
^^ I did know about Heidi & Vicky and some others - and yet y'made me learn somethin new :) Nevertheless, us fans are really lucky, ain't we! ^^
Alfred was a Dutch, German and Japanese co-production. The serie had three 'originals', the Japanese, and the two done by Herman van Veen. The most horrible remake is the UK one :)
I find the original used in the Dutch/German Intro much nicer than this. I really wish the japanese would have also used that version instead of changing it to this.
I still think it's a mastermove ahving Megumi Hayashibara (the singer) to voice Alfred. An actress with her talent makes perfection look weak, she's that good!
Japanese version rocks i still think the Dutch is a little better because i grew up with it and all.... but this version is great to thanks for sharing this much appreciated
