Hey Avery, I don't have a sewing machine but I've done very basic shit by just cutting up some pants in the past. I remember one night at like 2AM I took some jeans that I don't wear and just cropped them with scissors, I now cuff them up once and have a frayed look on them. Think I'm gonna do more shit like that with jeans I buy from second hand shops. Why am I writing this
The timing was perfect on this upload! I've been doing some small and dumb lil diy's on some pants, Jeans and shoes and your videos have been what really inspired me to do so. I've been a big fan for a while and I've loved watching the Chanel grow, keep up the amazing work! Thanks for the inspiration!
This was one of the best videos you've made in a while. I know it's a bit of a meme by now, but the DIYs are why I originally loved/subbed to this channel.
I really really enjoy the content this channel. I didn't think I would be able to find someone with similar views on fashion due to it being a topic with such broad perceptions.
Another phenomenal video. I noticed that really nice ring you're wearing on your left hand - any chance you could make a video about rings or general men's jewelry?
Thanks man, that lil guy is a pair of rings I found buried deep in my house haha. They are silver horse rings that were left by the previous owner 20+ years ago. Crazy. I love jewelry but have the hardest time finding any online. Hopefully if I go to more shows and find other sources, I can put something together for ya!
fuc you I would say find a shop with a silk screen press! I remember trying out all of these methods at home when I "owned a shoe company" in 5th grade and all of the techniques came out cracking and peeling 😩😩😩
Yo Avery, my aunt gave me these insane ralph suede cargos from the 90s most likely. They're a size 36 though and I'm like a 30 haha. I noticed you had a similar issue with your 36s. Do you think there's any chance I could have them brought in?
Jack Merz I think it depends on how much excess fabric is at the backseam for a seamstress to work with. I bet someone could professionally bring them in 2 inches and then you belt it the rest. But it may look a lil scrunched! Still totally worth trying, that's an awesome find! If they do look a like wrapped up check out the latest Martine Rose show for some inspiration on how to work with it.
Great idea^ You could also add more fabric and use some crazy pattern, but too much and it'll look flared. If you havent yet cut out the excess then you can rip out the seam and retry!
might mess around and add a strip of wild fabric to the outside of each legs up to where the cargo pocket starts. i feel like if i added fabric to the inseam it would look whack. thanks for the tips bruv. cheers from philly.
Try doubling the thread and tying a knot at the end, then pull the next stitch through that knot creating a loop around the fabric. That way it won't come off
For the buttons, because you're using a less than ideal needle, just try tie your knot at the end multiple times on top of each other , basically creating a thicker knot. :)
hey guys kinda cool 5th grader science teacher here back with a new photoset on avery 5080 btw!!-$.--> www.avery5080.com/single-post/2017/04/17/C%C3%B4te-dAzur-Sent-via-my-iPhone

To make buttons holes you do need practice but its easy to learn. First you need a good machine that preferably has a button hole setting. Especially one that can handle heavy fabrics like your jacket. I'm not sure what machine you have but if it does have a setting for button holes then you are good to go to start practicing if you have the manual or can look up a video I'm sure there are plenty out there. And for the buttons try to use a smaller needle and force it through with pliers or some way like that (thats all I can think of at the moment) but also double your thread (fold the thread in half and stick the folded part of the thread through the eye of the needle). That way the stitching will be stronger and it will literally be four times faster.
It all depends on the material! I would need to test it out on mine because it was some plasticky slippery outer. I think acrylic may crack, but it's worth trying!
Here's my machine: bit.ly/2nXPAFS Usually, I just recommend looking through all of the highly rated ones on amazon between $110-145 and find one that suits your style!
Please make sure you read my other comment. I really think I gave great advise. I would really like to see those buttons on the jacket I know it will look clean!

Yes! When I moved here I stopped along the way. It was spectacular. Hope to come back some day!
For the buttons, because you're using a less than ideal needle, just try tie your knot at the end multiple times on top of each other , basically creating a thicker knot. :)
Great tip! That needle was less then ideal 😩 I'll have to pick some others up when I head back

What about acrylic paint instead of spray paint for the bag?
It all depends on the material! I would need to test it out on mine because it was some plasticky slippery outer. I think acrylic may crack, but it's worth trying!
