The ARX-014S Silver Bullet Suppressor

- The ARX-014S Silver Bullet Suppressor is a remodeled version of a ARX-014 Silver Bullet stored in the Magallanica. The main reason for the remodeling was to enable it to use the RX-0 series' Beam Magnum. To accomplish this, its right arm is modified to be exchangeable, its backpack is changed to one that stores four replacement arms and an arm exchange system consisting of a crane and rail is installed on the rear waist armor. These measures allow the exchange of the right arm after each shot of the Beam Magnum, countering the malfunctions that occured to the arm due to use of the weapon.
Other notable modifications include its face being greatly different, the number of antennas are increased to a total of six, modified knees and new feet. All of the modifications are possible due to the high extensibility of the original Silver Bullet. The colors of the mobile suit have also been changed to a black color scheme. Besides the Beam Magnum, the Silver Bullet Suppressor's other armaments consisted of 60mm Vulcan Guns, Beam Sabers, Grenade Launchers and Beam Cannons. The "Suppressor" in its name is said to signify that "the mobile suit is to deter and restrain hostile organizations".

I love how everyone agrees that swapping out arms instead of just building arms that can handle the stress is incredibly stupid...but it's also really cool for some reason.
I think this is one of those times where the stupid factor outweighs the cool factor. Like I REALLY have to turn off my brain (a lot more than normal) for me to accept this suit.
The zeon remnants, Sleeves dont build mobile suits, but rather stole them (Sinanju, ...) or use mobile suits from post war (Torrington Base battle, ...) and modified them (Geara Doga, ReBawoo, ...). And at the end of Unicorn series, the Vist mansion was destroyed by the Neo Zeong, where the majority of the Silver Bullet suit was stored, so they dont have to build the Silver Bullet supressor from scratch, they rebuild those into Banagher’s mobile suits
To be fair, the reason they cannot make a sturdier arm like the Unicorn’s is that the setting of Narrative is not that far off from Unicorn, plus the fact that the both the Unicorn and the Banshee were dismantled and the schematics destroyed to avoid reverse engineering.
Probably easier to change out the arms of the silver suppressor then to design an entirely new arm for a single weapon. Besides the silver bullet already had detachable arms seen in Unicorn and the silver suppressor is just modified version of it.
does nobody consider that r&d might be an issue? not only were the suits put on lockdown but also their research. they would have to start from scratch to re-engineer a strong enough arm and I don't think that vist has that kind of resources/money or connections to any of the major manufacturers anymore after 0096. sure it's stupid and wasteful but if it's the only easy and cheap way to make the magnum operable it's probably worth it.
Everyone keeps saying some variation of “reinforce right arm” but that doesn’t take into account the fact that the force would just be transferred to the rest of the suit. The only reason the bullet’s shoulder or torso stays intact is because the arm breaks first, reinforcing the arm just moves the problem elsewhere. Unless they create a mechanism where the arm slides backwards after firing.
It's not like mobile suits are built with massive shock absorption capability.

Just use a different weapon instead of burning through arms and wasting time changing arm and waisting weight on the spare arms and the required equipment for them.
Well, Delta Plus tried to use it and it's main body got a bit malfunction and it's arm completely useless.
Like the Unicorn is the only ones able to use it due to it being Full body Psychoframe.

This has got to be the dumbest creation ever. The ARX-014s were used as test beds for the RX-0 technology so I am confused why the ARX-014 the suppressor needs arm to change. They know how much of a strain the beam magnum produces , it would made more sense of the right arm was abnormally large or was spare arm retro fitted
from an RX-0, anything but this monstrosity

He doesn't need to wear the other one because it has all the connector points for the Unicorn's psycommu NT-D system on it, also, which would probably make it substantially heavier than a normal suit. Makes sense, since he's Mineva Loa Zabi's consort now, and she's the reigning Princess of the Principality of Zeon - and he's part of Zinnerman's crew now, which I love.

The other that I could think of are char with 100 shiki, amuro with dijeh. And on the other alternate uc, Daryl with Perfect Gundam and Io with Perfect Zeong

Yes, Barnagher is the current pilot of the Silver Bullet. Unicorn is sealed for good so he can't no longer use it.
I thought it was awful. What a waste of resources.
It’s actually genius because the Silver Bullet already has detachable arms, so replacing them would be super easy, and extra arms would be very easy to acquire. The Silver Bullet is also a highly customizable machine, and has a history of being modified for testing purposes. As for why someone would want to use the Beam Magnum in the first place, the Beam Magnum grants super heavy firepower in a very small package and can be deployed very quickly. The Silver Bullet Suppressor is meant to be used as a heavy support unit, fighting from a distance, unlike the Unicorn, which is designed to fight at the forefront. Banagher’s crew is also operating in secret, and the Unicorn is way too high-profile for a machine. Carrying a weapon with equal firepower to the Beam Magnum would be way too bulky, slow to deploy, and would take up space that could be used for other things aboard the disguised cargo transport they were using.
It’s also important to take into account that the Mineva faction Banagher is working for doesn’t have the resources or knowledge to develop a new arm to handle the recoil of the Beam Magnum. The only normal-sized mobile suits that could handle the recoil of the Beam Magnum were the Unicorn units, and all development data for those units was deleted by the Vist foundation. Psychoframe technology is also banned, so acquiring psychoframe would be nearly impossible, not to mention expensive, and would also attract unwanted attention.
So with all of that in mind, it’s just way more simple, time efficient, and cost effective to create a system that just replaces the arm after each shot, than to dedicate time and resources to developing a new arm. The Silver Bullet Suppressor is only meant to be used in emergencies that call for the use of the Beam Magnum, so it wouldn’t be deployed very often anyways.

After the events of original Unicorn series, the Unicorn and Banshee unit both being sealed because it's technology is far too dangerous for mankind. Maybe the reason he used Silver Bullet is because his father's secretary also used the same suit, and the beam magnum ? It's the only weapon he's comfortable and used with.
And because of the recoil from the beam magnum, only the RX0 series's frame can withstand it. And because it's expensive to develop another frame just to use the magnum, they just opt for single use hands. It's just a normal silver bullet with extra hands/suppressor's
Plus the events of narrative is just few years after unicorn so making new frame is time consuming.

獅子の帰還では、バナージが世間から遠ざかってミネバ達と行動を共にしているのが描かれており、中尉に昇進した後のリディとのガンダムMK2での思いがけない邂逅 があってホッコリしました。コミックのガンダムNT4巻まで買って読んでるけど、そちらにもバナージが登場してくれると嬉しいですね。

確かデルタプラスがビームマグナム撃った時は機体の肩の辺りから損傷してたのに対して、シルヴァ・バレトは肘から下の取り替えで済む時点で他の機体よりスゴい！
おそらく腕部の一部を意図的に壊れやすくして衝撃を吸収しているのでしょうね。
もちろんビームマグナムを撃ち終わるまでの射撃に影響が出ない程度に
腕の取り替えはこのモビルスーツが大型モビルスーツだったからできたことです。
ビームマグナムはユニコーンじゃないと腕壊しちゃう…どうする…？

You can replace a new arm after each shot but you can't put 5 arms on 1 beam magnum to reduce the stress (without throwing the arms away). That's a great logic Bandai!

the quality of the animation of the gundam franchise really improve a lot as time pass by
It really does! It's just a shame that the writing and storytelling has taken such a huge nosedive.
Not that I exactly disagree with your point, but I feel that the animation quality of the Gundam franchise has always been pretty darn good. The lame duck in that regard is the OG Gundam, but even that I feel that the quality is decent for the most part, it is just let down by the volume of reused frames.
But as soon as you get to Zeta Gundam I feel that the quality of things is pretty bloody amazing.
Actually I really think Sunrise peaked with the Iron Blooded Orphans era in terms of animation. The stuff they've been putting out recently is either straight up garbage animation (most of the animation in Narrative is full of characters turning into blobs between key frames and very inconsistent character designs) or very cheaply done like some click and dragging around a still image kinda shit. They've fallen a long way from the illustrious SUNRISE that made stuff like Code Geass and almost single handedly drove the mecha anime genre.

ビームマグナムは、ユニコーンみたいにたくさんのサイコフレームで構成された機体じゃないと耐久性がなくてどっか故障するんやで。
あのデルタプラスでさえ1発打っただけで故障するんやから…
NTはサイコフレームの使用が禁止になってるから、腕部をとりかえる仕様にしかできなかったんやとおもう。

接合部にかかる負荷ヤバそう 負荷で壊れるかもしれないならその場で腕交換の方がわざわざ修理しなくていいからコスパもいいし戦場でもすぐに再使用できると思う

I just rewatched Heavy Object, and i thought everyone was talking about the Baby Magnum, welp, time to watch Narrative.
Don't. It's a rather shitty story TBH. Bunch of rejects in different forms. The existence of the RX-9 Narrative itself is unbelievable-- a so-called "prototype/testbed" for the Nu Gundam, when none of its technologies made it to Amuro's machine.

I would've loved for the unicorn gundam to stick around the series more instead of being sealed away.
Unicorns are unstable like wild animal. And they can bite they own master (pilot) if they lose control like Phenex. Plus, they are too powerful that maybe can effect universe.

ビームマグナムがナラティブ時点の技術力で、サイコフレームを使った腕じゃないと耐えられないから、ラプラス事変でサイコフレームの使用が基本的にタブー扱いになったから、デメリット無しに使用できる機体は事実上、こいつみたいな腕交換系の機体しか無いんだろうな。
マグナムの快感が忘れられないんだろうなあ
I was so hyped when I first heard the beam magnum’s sound effect.
I think the reason they desided for field-replacable arms is because the suppresor is a stop gap, a machine built to solve a task but not other more longterm task
I love how it needs extra arms because it can't handle the beam magnum's recoil.
Friendship ended with Unicorn, Now silver bullet suppressor is my best friend.

The Unicorn i sealed like a yokai. Even though the difference between it and the phenex is that theres no ego or soul inside moving it.

Imagine if they had just kept the Unicorn and repainted it in those colors. Give it equipment specifically designed to contain and disable pyschoframes. Basically SCP Foundation Universal Century version.
There is no such equipment.
Also having the Unicon is a threat by itself, the last thing Minerva and Banhahger wants is is to provoke an another war.

Yes I am well aware of the reason why the Unicorn and Banshee were surrendered to be sealed away. Again, just proposing a cool alternative outcome.

The zeon remnants, Sleeves dont build mobile suits, but rather stole them (Sinanju, ...) or use mobile suits from post war (Torrington Base battle, ...) and modified them (Geara Doga, ReBawoo, ...). And at the end of Unicorn series, the Vist mansion was destroyed by the Neo Zeong, where the majority of the Silver Bullet suit was stored, so they dont have to build the Silver Bullet supressor from scratch, they rebuild those into Banagher’s mobile suits

I'm pretty sure they're using the colony that was given to them by the founder of the Vist Foundation as a base. Which is where they also keep Unicorn locked up.

In Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative, the Magallanica was relocated to within the Republic of Zeon's territory following the Laplace Incident where it now serves as the residence of Mineva Lao Zabi and the headquarters of the Mineva Faction. It also serves as the resting place of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, having been sealed away within after the Laplace Incident instead of being dismantled as originally intended.

and stupid the delta fired the mag and its arm wasnt destroyed so the one shot and done with the arms was stupid reinforced arms that would last a clip of the beam mag being shot would make way more sense

オリジナル機がドーベン･ウルフなんだから腕の予備は割とあるだろうしそこまで違和感ないけどなぁ腕交換
でもマグナムの強さに耐えられる腕の製造ぐらいユニコーン開発したメガラニカで出来ると思わん？
いくらユニコーンのデータ破棄したとはいえ実機が2機あるんだし予備パーツぐらいあるだろうに
あと交換用の腕を製造する材料とか今のミネバ達はそんなホイホイ手に入れられないだろうしだったら多少金はかかっても新しい腕ぐらい作っても良くない？

メガラニカはあくまで組み立てと試験だけだから製造は無理じゃないかな？主要素材のサイコフレームもルオ商会が買い集めてたみたいだしわざわざかき集めてユニコーンの腕再現する手間を考えたらそっくりそのまま使えるドーベンウルフの腕を使い捨てにした方がコスト的にも隠密的にも良いと思う。

つまりマグナムをちゃんと使おうとすると腕だけじゃなくて機体そのものをガッツリ作る必要がある。というかビームてんこ盛り機体のシルヴァ・バレトでようやく腕がぶっ壊れる程度で済むビーム・マグナムがおかしい

ガンダム系列と言うよりは百式系列に近いと思うけどどちらにせよビームマグナムはユニコーンガンダムにしか使えない設計だからいくらユニバーサルデザインだとしてもMS側に何かしらの弊害があるんだと思う

super late to the party but also the silver bullet suppressor is based off the Dovenwolf and Gundam Mark V, much older designs by comparison to the Unicorn. This May account for the goofy arm swap mechanic. Cause the beam magnum was meant just for the unicorn.

耐えることが出来るように強化するんじゃなくて、そのままで交換式にしてるところがめっちゃ良い
コスト的に使い捨ての腕を何本も用意するより、使いこなせる腕1本の製作するほうがいいんですよね…
