After reading Dave's "the storyteller" I've checked out a bunch of scream songs, good stuff! I had to see what he was like back in his scream days, doesn't disappoint
EDIT: 4 months later, and their albums "still screaming" and "fumble" are always in the rotation for gym playlists. Total bangers. Would've loved to mosh to these songs in person. At least im fortunate enough to have moshed at the foo fighters' concerts 😅 Anyway, can't wait for studio666 to come out.

Just listened to David Grohl interview on Howard Stern. The first time he auditioned for Scream, he was still ih High School. They offereed him the job on the spot. He turned down the job.

Dave's autobio brought me here. Love to uncover the roots of some of my favorite artists. Dave's book is outstanding, a must-read (or hear, it's out on Audible now, narrated by him).
I couldn't agree more, it really is a thing of beauty. I finished listening to the audiobook yesterday, I suspect I'll be starting it again before a week is out.

Secondly, it's about Kurt. Listen, I've never been one to subscribe to the theory of it being about Kurt just out of the title/lyrics alone. That is until recording engineer Bradley Cook talked about the recording process of the song, it's meaning which was explained to him to maybe better understand the concept of the song and help engineer it better and later confirmed by Dave himself.

I didn't say in Pete's memory--in his HONOUR! Dave Grohl himself SAYS he wrote it for Pete--his muse of sorts. I recall an interview with Dave and Howard Stern with Stern going on about what an incredible tribute My Hero was to Kurt...later Dave would comment about wanting to correct Stern but thinking better of it...he didn't want to ruin the moment.

Found this after reading Dave Grohl's Storyteller. Kind of missed some of this. I was married and in school when this came out.
Reading it at the moment. Great stories and so well written. I'm up to his Scream days and thought I'd check them out. They certainly give everything in their performances.
Pete and his brother Franz went on to form Wool,who where bloody brilliant.
Then Pete went and sang with Goatsnake.

Was it the bassist or the guitarist (I forgot) who took the band's van and left them basically screwed. I guess it worked out for the better cause that's how Dave met Krist Novoselic.

Awesome underrated band, I read Dave's excellent book. On tour they lived in a van on makeshift plywood beds subsisting on convenience store junk food. These guys deserved better then that.
saw them live yesterday, such an amazing performance, tighter then ever before... don't hesitate to come to see them!
Dave Grohl what a legend. Born to be a rock 'n' roll star. You are an inspiration to young up and coming musicians. Just goes to show with a lot of hard work and determination you can achieve your dream. Dave's certainly done that!

Brings back memories. Saw Scream in 1989 at VFW in Phoenix. Headlining band was Bad Religion, Scream, opening band was Operation Ivy. Sad that back then the crowd never heard of Scream, but the other two bands were already popular on the West Coast.
