About the eri glitch you thought you had, it wasn't a glitch, the card requires you to discard at least 1 item card, but you can't use it if your opponent had less then 2 cards in their hand.
I’ve never actually seen this deck but heard a ton about it, it looks so painful to play against LOL

No Giovanni charisma?
Giovanni is ok but the energy lines are so thin you're often not attaching energy, plus you dont really need to accelerate energy given magnezone only needs one to attack, Giovanni only returns energy into your opponents hand versus discarding using crushing hammer
