The build worked like a charm. I was hit with a crit after using Skill Swap, then I just used Reflect before I was knocked out and reset with Contrary. Then I used Superpower 8 times and won. Thanks again!
Very clever! Thought I succeeded on my first attempt with a Stellar type. With Contrary, Tera Blast keeps boosting the attack every single time, and it's super effective. The only downside is that Dark type moves are neutral rather than resisted (when Tera'd) but I succeeded nonetheless.

I solod it with Kommo-O on first try. Iron defense/body press/taunt/breaking swipe Taunt to stop bulk ups, breaking swipe to lower their attack while powering up tera orb, iron defense to set up, body press to damage. Max hp/max def with Lefties and tera fighting
If you really want to have more fun give Malamar the move Swagger, and watch Incineroar’s Attack stats drop two stages each time and get confused on top of it.
You can also run Dachsbun with well baked ability, tera fighting, 252 hp and def with 4 going into attk, moveset I used was body press, charm, misty terrain and protect.
Once more, your brilliant builds strike back hard against a tough battle! This one admittedly gave me difficulty in the beginning because of the needs for chance working in our favor. It took me about five resets for the plan to follow this setup! Incineroar is one of my favorite Fire type starters next to Delphox, so I'm happy this worked better than I expected! Now I have all the Alola starters from the 7 star battles!
Just ran Clefable with fighting tera with the psych up plan. Just moonlight and protect juggled until his stats were ripe for copying. Then Metronome item boosted Drain punch until it screams uncle!
I was using the dondozo Clefable with moonblast, draining kiss, calm mind and cosmic power. Item was shell bell, although covert cloak isn't bad either to prevent burn. You need at least 2 cosmic power up and boost to plus 5, ideally plus 6 spatk. Draining kiss until your stats were reset, then teo cosmic power, drain kiss for recovery, boost with calm mind and heal with draining kiss. You need two cosmic power to have a net positive with shell bell recovery and plus 4/5 moonblast
I used Tera Stellar Rapid-Strike Urshifu (Fighting/Water) as I used DaniSoloRaids’ (Fellow PokéTuber) suggestion with Impish Nature, Max EVs in HP & Defense with Drain Punch, Bulk Up, Focus Energy and Taunt, holding Metronome (her original suggestion was Razor Claw) as the way I took it on was Taunting Incineroar every few turns, while setting up with Bulk Up, after it nullifies all stats at 90% Time Remaining in the Raid (it’ll only do it once, early on) Max Out Attack & Defense with Bulk Up, and use Drain Punch, Terastallize, as it came in clutch, even while grocery shopping with my younger sister, as surprisingly, it worked, by being that unconventional of a Pokémon Raid Trainer.
Just used Primarina Support build, you have to hope people bring better counters, but I just through up heals and chilling water and nobody died, almost died once but was able to recover. And keep the party alive for the down.
Thank you for the build! I knew I save my contrary inkay for a reason 😅 I actually had to do this twice, the first time I got taunted. The second time I got burned and actually died twice because I had a darkest lariat crit me. I ended up setting up reflect as I came back and terastalized, just in case. But even without hyper training and pp max AND being burned and knocked out twice, I was still able to get it. If I end up doing it again I'll probably set up reflect after immediately dying the first time just to be safe and save time.
Great build as usual. Had to go a bit off script as the Incineroar simply refused to KO my Malamar. I was able to use Terra Blast to build Terra charge until the inevitable KO, then immediately went Terra Fighting after recovering and finished the Incineroar raid easily.
this build worked like a charm, and it's really quick to run through the raid with! I just have one question: Why was the reflect needed? Maybe I'm missing something here, but I never end up using it, not even when I'm re-doing the raid... multiple times.
Thank you for posting this! It worked extremely well. I did have to reset a few times because of taunt, but once RNG worked in my favor it was very easy.
You can put your device into airplane mode so it can not internet connect or force coonect. Then farm away when you can. I do this when they do these spam pop up events and I work weekends so I can not get to them until the middle of the week when I have my days off. That way you won't miss it and have plenty of time to farm it.
You don't need to put it into airplane mode, just don't connect it to the internet. Been using this tactic for years to keep events long past their natural expiry date.

For Level 2 Dark Raid food effect to unlock 2 more reward slots: [4 Herbed Sausages] [2 Fired Fillet] [4 Pepper] I Managed to win with the same Dondozo setup (the Dondozo from the event) I used against event Dragonite Chilling Water Body Press Protect Curse (gained by Dondozo have a free "move" space, while holding Mirror Herb, throw Dondozo out and a Pokémon with Curse during a picnic, then just cancel picnic and take the Mirror Herb off, no DLC needed) Max EV on HP and Def Hold: Metronome Ability: Unaware (Hidden Ability) 3 Chilling Water Protect on Ability Reset Terastallize into "Fighting Type" and the move "Curse" Use total of 6 Curses Use Cheer Heal when low HP Body Press it into oblivion. (10PP is enough) NPC Helper: Gardevoir (Life Dew) or Arboliva (Grass Terrain) If Incineroar does NOT Crit AND Cheer Heal Gives back more than 100 HP each time, then the Healer NPCs are not needed. With this build setup I didn't have to watch my Pokémon faint during the raid as that always feels like a fail and so I hard reset the game. EDIT: Fixed some misspellings of Dondozo and added Terastallize Fighting Type and the part of not having to watch my Pokémon faint during the raid.
Dondozo was super easy.. body press and curse did just fine.. fighting tera.. just hit it with liquidation 3x until it cleared me and the tera curse bodypress until it was dead. Shell bell.. EZPZ
So gonna be running up with a Koraidon with Bulk-up, Sunny day, Drain Punch and Collison course, Tera Fighting. Need to be max Atk/Def with 4 HP as this gives the most bulk. Only thing thats gonna be scary is if Incen gets to +6 as in Sun, you need +4 def to not get One shot by Flare Blitz, obviously not gonna fully happen. Item is either gonna be mental herb to shake the taunt off, or Clear Am to negate the Intimidate, will edit when completed
In Violet I didn’t get any HM but when I caught it in my scarlet version I got 5 HM!!! Plus an ability capsule! I had exactly the same build for each battle too!
Stellar terra on this Malamar is a much better option for 2 reasons: - Incase you get into the odd situation where you run out of super powers, your stellar terra will both boost your attack & still be super effective. - When you stellar terra Malamar, the AI will make the Incin use Darkest Lariat 90% of the time due to it being its highest damage output. So you don't have to worry about getting burned nearly as much
This build is brilliant! It maximizes the Contrary ability potential and shows off what a brilliant strategy can do. I just have to try it. Thank you so much for a brilliant and fun build. It's nice to branch out to Pokémon that don't get a lot of use or credit but have good potential too

Anyone else disappointed that Primarina and Incineroar just have their secondary types as their Tera type? These have been treated as 3rd types(or 2nd for the monotypes) with the exception of the Hisui starters. Primarina I kinda get because the closest for a 3rd type I could think of is ice and that was used on Empoleon not long ago. But Incineroar could’ve obviously been fighting Tera. It’s overdone but in this case it makes sense, it’s a wrestler.
Definitely gonna use this Malamar build. Need to hit that skill swap contrary to incineroar then get fainted or it's redo the raid if i get hit with taunt. Update: Worked nicely just now. Got it on the first try on both SV carts.
I screwed it up and forgot to change my tera type. Didn't realize till I terastallized and was dark type instead of fighting. I still won the raid though. The build is just that good lol.
If I don't get a shiny Gimmighoul by the 13th, I'm doing Incineroar on it's second time round. I need to do Incineroar as it's one of the remaining 7* starters I need so...
4 and a half hours of trying other pokemon was me taunted and critical hit constantly. Winning attempt with malamar still got crit 4 times. Why is the crit rate so high in raids. I swear its 50% chance to get crit.
I keep getting ohko by any attack that isn't snarl. Consistently. My malamar is as maxed out as possible. How did yours survive so easily and mine gets swept? Gotta switch strat. 😮💨 How can RNGs be so different from on save to another?
It’s hard with Dachsbun. He refuses to hit with Fire moves, will spam Bulk Up and attack with Iron Head. If you’re lucky you can try Psych Up to copy his Atk + Def increases after he resets everyone’s stats at the 90% time remaining (that is if you don’t get taunted).
When you die the first time you should have intimidate so I think this is a good idea actually, but unfortunately neither inkay nor malamar learn or can learn memento.

I actually used this same exact build. Had it for a while and this was the perfect raid for it.
I defeated incenroar with hatterene
Basically the same, I gave it Tera Blast to use once Malamar's stats are maxed.

If you really want to have more fun give Malamar the move Swagger, and watch Incineroar’s Attack stats drop two stages each time and get confused on top of it.

I'm gonna try Unaware Clefable since it will ignore Incineroar's Bulk Up boosts. Moveset of Reflect, Psych Up, Play Rough, and Protect.

I have a special attacker one as well it works but the raid was kinda glitchy for me

Why does Psych Up fail when Incineroar has 6+ stages Atk and Def and I have 0, I thought that was the strat people do ?

this is truly the best strat. i just beat it and i forgot to change my tera type from dark to fighting and still won with full health

Assuming you don’t get taunted at the start, this strat is rock solid and you’ll clear it in half the time

you can also do this with Unaware Clefable with psych up granted its alot slower but done right you really don't have to fear damage

Don't run this in online raids. Sun will boost incineror's flare blitz and kill the other team members.

Big Note: Make sure you don't have any Pokémon that use Intimidate on your side of the field. They'll make Incineroar's attacks hit much harder.

So I’ve tried 10 times with Malabar in the last 2 days
So far incineroar has taunted me 9 out 10 times
right???? rng gives youtubers special privilege but when it comes to us, we get the worst rng. it's like everything is rigged.

Side note: Don't get Gardivior as an ally, if the objective is death, it will use life dew and screw it all up

This was solid as long as I don't get hit by Taunt, and Gardevoir isn't one of my partners. Gardevoir kept healing everyone when i'm trying to faint.

I have restarted this raid 12 times, all 12 times he used taunt on my Malamar. 😑
I just used Quagsire again. Same as last time. It worked for Dragonite, and it worked for Incineroar.

As long you don't have teammates with intimidate you should be okay I used a stellar type malamar worked out too
This strat is good, but it's annoying with CPUs, especially when the game is insistent on giving you Bellibolt
