Hi Everyone, This is Rocky, Joe's son, and I had the privilege of helping him make this video. It’s been four years since we lost him in that motorcycle accident, and every day has been a reminder of his incredible spirit. In his honor, I’ve started a T-shirt printing business and created a special T-shirt dedicated to him and all fallen motorcycle riders. You can purchase it here: movedapparel.etsy.com. I’m proud to say that 20% of all proceeds will be donated to BikerDown. BikerDown is one of the few true motorcycle-related organizations that truly understands our community. Unlike many fundraisers and events that focus on charities outside of biking, BikerDown is there for injured riders, providing support for recovery and financial strategies when it’s needed most. Thank you for supporting this cause and keeping the spirit of riders like my dad alive. Ride safe, everyone! Rocky
It may be hard to think about right now but having your fathers videos on youtube is a way to revisit him when you miss him which is awesome. I lost my mother around the same time and I cherish her texts and voicemails on my phone to this day and wish i had videos of her. Sorry about your loss brother.
Hello Everyone, My name is Rocky Ramirez, Joe’s son who filmed this video for him. My Dad was killed on his motorcycle last night on the 91 freeway near the Carmenita exit. Our family is all very distraught. I want you all to know he loved motorcycles, his family, God, and being a true bad ass. He was also very proud of the many views he had revived on this video. Thank you all for showing your support, watching the video, commenting, and learning something. Thank you all! -Rocky Ramirez
Man, I finished the video and just read this. I am very sorry for your loss Rocky. I bet he was proud of the views and it's nice to have something like this as proof to his demeanor and desire to help others. Please accept my condolences sir.
I am so very sorry to read about your father's passing,I was just going to thank him for this vid.It is to be my next upgrade and his vid was VERY helpful. God bless you all.
Hey Ronald, I appreciate you watching this. Unfortunately my Dad passed away from a motorcycle accident back in 2020 so I have no idea on the specs he used. Thanks for watching and be safe.
Hey Everyone, my name is Rocky. I am Joe's son who shot this video for him. I have a lot about video editing experience since then. If you would like your video professionally edited, please email me at rockyramirez30@gmail.com Thanks
Amazing video brother , thanks a ton for taking the time to walk through everything , I have a 99 1600 road star , had a shop replace the clutch years ago , cost me an arm and a leg , it's slipping again so I'm going to do it myself ,im fairly handy for a chic 😂 where did you order your parts from , I'm in Vancouver Canada .....again thanks 👍
on my 2005 Roadstar midnight Silverado, 10,000 miles on it, it sat for awhile. When I pull in the clutch and drop it into gear it jumps forward and then dies. How do I rectify this? Discs sticking? I took it for a ride and no slippage but I cannot ride now due it stalling when I put into gear. With engine off I put it in gear, pull clutch in and cannot push it Anyone with ideas please help
Irish Bill's, Again, wanted to keep the video as short as possible, most people didn't have a problem following the instructions, with well over 25,000 hits I guess it went well.
ну не удобно ему снимать и крутить болты! Приезжай к нему в гости, он будет менять тебе сцепление, а ты снимай и комментируй ;) Или у вас так не принято?
2008 road star silverado clutch won't release. when I pull the clutch in it feel like it should be working but it's. not releasing. What could be the problem
Aaron Turner. Again, Without being there to oversee the job application you did, it's very hard for me to know where the problem your having exist, as I mentioned to Bruce, I hope by now the problem has been rectified, and your rolling, sorry for the late response.
Supa Mario. The point in this upgrade is that Yamaha installs what they call a spring, which really is more of a diaphragm, it doesn't grab like Springs, and the clutch plates didn't need changing out as they only had just around 1,000 miles on them when I bought the bike, I added the Barnett Kit right after purchasing the bike, the bike came with a receipt of a new clutch from a Yamaha Dealer install. So one shouldn't assume. After adding the Barnett Spring Kit, the grab of the clutch was amazing compared to the Yamaha Spring/ Diaphram.
The diaphragm is just a stamped piece of flat steel. With time, the diaphragm flattens out, which lessens pressure on the clutch assembly. Thus, causing slippage. The coil spring conversion holds more pressure on the plates. Also, road star clutches last a LONG time. The plates wont always need replaced with the conversion
I just did the same thing to my 05 road star followed the video and now with clutch lever pulled in nothing. I tried adjusting the cable still nothing. any advice
Bruce Malady. Not being present to oversee the job you did installing the Kit, it's virtually impossible to see what happened as to why the clutch isn't engaging, I know these responses I'm delivering at this time is way late, so I hope by now you have figured out what went wrong, again my apologies for these late responses.
I just came back to check to see if some other questions on my video were asked, I did this job on a 2003 Yamaha Road Star 1600, your 2005 Road Star is a 1700, I was told that the 1600 clutch, and the 1700 are different, so perhaps yourself, and Aaron's bike that also had trouble both own 1700's? I hope you two guys are rolling again, so sorry if not.
My guess would be the direction/facing of that grooved "bolt" I watched the video and saw that that is what pulls the assembly outward when the lever is pulled. If you didn't have the grooves in the right direction, I could see where nothing would happen when lever pulled. Hope that was it....
Jeremy Hefner. I cannot say that it will help, or not. It sounds like your having a clutch issue, more than anything. Try not hitting those gears so hard, or go for a high performance clutch, and spring kit, yet your clutch lever will be much harder to pull in after installation.
cadipunk918. The Yamaha Road Star was introduced in 1999, all I can say is that every Road Star Model I know of All have a "5" speed gear box. Go Figure?
@@giovannicarosa8819 the testimonials I've read is that the clutch plates are still good, it's just the pressure plate that goes bad. I'm about to do the same.

Great video, could you tell me where you ordered the side case gasket I need to put the case back on, which website store?

Its sad this is one of the best vids on this. No music would be been better
I think the music is just in the beginning? Huh? Sorry, maybe not your Genre?
Remember to put new gasket back on other than that great video thanks for taking your time to do it.
Thank You, appreciate it.
Thanks for the vid. Does the washers be free from the purple or doesn’t it matter if they touch(slightly)

Anybody know what size the clutch hub nut is, What metric socket will fit?
Good video. Can you tell us how you liked the Barnet part?
The Barnet clutch Spring Plate turned out awesome, so much grab, especially when compared to what Yamaha calls a Spring, which is more of a Diaphragm.

Did you replace the oil drive gear?
That wiring that comes out of the cover, mine has a small hole under the wires and it's spitting oil out when it runs
Would have been a great video if you actually showed yourself _doing_ the steps.
Agreed
A how to video should show how to do the procedure.
AGoodBuzz, Sorry it wasn't a great video for you, yet I was trying to present a video that was to the point, and not to long, time wise.

I thought the video was perfect and to the point. Why the hell would i need to see you unscrew a bolt. You can't please everyone...

Jeff Shaw. Not sure what your comment here means?
How long did this take you from start to finish?
Roughly 3 hours, just removing the old gasket from the primary cover alone took an hour.
I’m just wondering why you didn’t replace your actual clutch and steels? I mean you went that far to not replace it seems silly!!
You need to please read the top comment of this video. My Dad was killed on his motorcycle 7/26/20. Please refrain from questions.
